Virginia Soybean Harvest Has Begun - It’s DUSTY!

- Howdy! Today, we're starting soybean harvest in Virginia! We harvested about 200 acres of corn and now we're switching to soybeans because they have gotten soooo dry! We're going to eventually switch back to corn later in the season.
My name is Elijah and I'm 15, 4th Generation Farmer. We farm 2000 acres of corn and soybeans in central Virginia. I run the Grain Cart with a John Deere 8235R and Corn Planter with a John Deere 7530. I mow during the summers with a John Deere Z960M Zero Turn.

Have you guys ever had a need to do a more rapid harvest and brought in outside machines to get it done?
One time we had a problem with the combine it blew a head gasket I believe. And someone came in a finished for us.

Yes and yes. It can be really slow. But it’s a nice break from the fast paced corn

Hi Elijah, What does the farm store more of, corn or soybeans and which is dustier to harvest? Bob and Spidey, LOL. Grounding chains are important. What do you film with, an iPhone or GoPro, both, neither or? Beautiful sunset. 104 degrees or 94 degrees - both are hot. Thankfully you have an air conditioned cab.
About equal amounts of both. Soybeans are definitely more dusty to work with. I film with an iPhone 13 and a couple older GoPros.
@@OneFieldAttaTime You are very good at editing. You pick out some of the absolute best clips. I've spoken with individuals who spend an hour editing for each minute of final video.
