- Beautiful version of this song. This song was a hit for Bobby Darin in 1960 and has been recorded by others such as Benny Goodman and Mantovani. The melody came from the French song, "La Mer" by Charles Trenet. Lyrics by Jack Lawrence. Released on the 1952 album, "Latin Rhythm Songs".
Brilliant, 💞💯🎼🎶🎶🌹
❤️💯 Beautiful to dream so elegant. Thank You very much.

You never stop learning do you? I always thought that Bobby Darin made the original.
the original is La Mer written in 1946 and sung by Charles Trenet.
@rogharm It must have been thrilling for her to meet all those great stars of yesteryear.
@rogharm You're welcome, I wish others would discover this posting! It's great, isn't it? Yes, Darin recorded the song in 1959 and it was a top hit in 1960.
You're welcome!
Tom Smith's post on another thread brought me here :---)
I really hope they will upload Melton singing "Beyond the Sea" on the Sullivan show. There is very little footage of him on the internet.
@rogharm Your comments are still here, they haven't gone anywhere. I can see them all.
