"My cynical producer thinks they (Lee fans) look like Terry Pratchett readers" Very astute observation and I know what he means. Educated looking to the point of being slightly nerdy. Somewhat melancholy because they secretly hope to be proved wrong about some of the things they fundamentally know to be right. Such as there being no such thing as magic, dragons and anthropomorphic personifications.
I dont doubt that, I'm just disappointed that the kind of drivel broadcast day to day is so mind numbingly shite and financially rewarded whereas someone who is unique like Stewart isnt so rewarded, when he has worked so hard and come out with such unique, clever and witty material.
Haha I was chuckling all the way through the Michael Macintyre bit. If he had said that on stage you would absolutely think he was being deeply sarcastic.
10 years later and he doesn't need to explain who Paul Sinha is anymore, but he's still much less known as a stand-up and more as 'that guy from The Chase'.
I have seen Stewart lee a few times on utube, I think I was inebriated at the time. I couldn't properly remember his name when I came to want to watch and listen to him again. So I decided to search google images as I would recognized his face. Did you know his picture does not come up until the 50th or so image, but he beats laurel and hardy and james corden? So there must be something there.
Is that white wine he is drinking? I dont know why but I always feel sorry for Stewart that he hasnt done alot better and made a fortune out of his work. I love his comedy and I cant understand anyone who doesnt
Advice taken.I now reside in a padded cell, making clocks out of feathers - (sadly no sand) - and am listening to a rare tape by Kevin Ayers ... Variations on a theme by Beethoven. I'm much improved thanks to you but I feel I'm ahead on points - after all ... you've not felt the urge to correct my grammar.Keep up the good work and smile on.
Terry Pratchett readers: emotionally undeveloped nerds. I don't think that's really Lee's audience now, though when i used to watch him on TMWRNJ (always stunned that it was on TV) i was exactly that!
Michael McIntyre could speak in a stream of indecipherable syllables and people would still laugh. Because the content of the jokes hardly even matters. Meh mah meh muh mee? Muhmahmeh. Muhmahmeh! [laughter] MUH MAH MEH! (hysterical laughter). Meh muh meh meh mah mo??? Mo! Meh mo! [sustained hysterical laughter and applause] p.s. You forgot to mention Simon Munnery, Stew.
+Steve27775 Fuck me! You should try sitting through an Eddie Izzard act first before complaining about shit comedians! You might find that they aren't as shit as you originally thought!
Primary school? I went straight from kinder to uni! Too old now so I battle fascists, racists and others,on Futube. My weapons are sarcasism, humour & scatology.I like S.Lee and was defending him - you suggested therapy.I sited you & found Kev,clocks & the classics - hence my post. There is no rare tape - I preferred R.Wyatt.Sorry for your loss.Given up on therapists - I now speak directly to gOD.A smile on ya face yet? & stop bashing OZ in the Ashes - we are not amused. Some errors in your last post
You can always rely on Stewart Lee to give answers worth listening to whenever he's questioned.

I think respect from his fans, critics and other comics is more important to him. Fair play to him
