5 Side Hustles I Used to Build Wealth
That’s right, you boss babes. Today we’re talking about side hustles. Now to be clear, I’m not big on hustle culture-but I do love a good side hustle. I mean, who doesn’t love extra money? In this video, I’m gonna share the side hustles I personally did that helped me raise my income so I could get out of debt and start building wealth faster.

George Kamel is a personal finance expert and co-host of The Ramsey Show. Following Ramsey’s proven money plan, George went from negative net worth to a millionaire in under 10 years. His goal is to help people spend less, save more, and avoid money traps so they can live a life with more margin, options and freedom.
This channel will simplify complex money topics, bust money myths with actual facts, and debunk the stupid financial advice you're seeing in your social media feed. All with a healthy dose of pop culture, humor, and snark.
1. Driving for Lyft and Uber
2. Music- Live gigs, and licenseing
3. Buliding Websites
4. MC live events
5. Marketing Consulting
You smart.
Mahalo nui 👍🏽
Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?
Just ''buy the dip'' man. In the long term it will payoff. High interest rates usually mean lower stock prices, however investors should be cautious of the bull run, its best you connect with a well-qualified adviser to meet your growth goals and avoid blunder
The truth is that this is really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It requires a certain level of diligence, no doubt, which is something ordinary investors lack, and so a financial advisor often comes in very handy. My friend just pulled in more than $84k last month alone from his investment with his advisor. That is how people are able to make such huge profits in the market
ANGELA LYNN SCHILLING' is her name. She is regarded as a genius in her area and works for Empower Financial Services. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
ETF's.. maaaan. WTF?
I cannot with this intro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I've never been been so genuinely entertained while receiving financial advice. Great job team Kamel!
That intro HYPED ME UP
😂this is why I love Kamel! Smart and funny. Humor is everything
Can’t what ?
That was epic
THE TABLE PUSH-UPS 🤣🤣🤣
My friend brings in $500K per year mowing lawns. Yep. Lawns. He started with just himself and grew it to 4 crews. He also plowed snow in winter.
Favorite side hussle - Overtime! I know it is not available to everyone... but why not build experience in your field, maybe help get a better raise and potential promotion for working hard and helping out your employer, pay can add to your 401k, etc. And if you are a trained professional making descent pay, chances are your hourly rate may be better at your day job than a lot of other side hussles. Just my opinion. :)
Time and 1/2 and they're thrilled you're willing to fill the gap!
When you mentioned the horse, I was like, why?? You'll just sell it!! 😂😂 I'm telling you, my jaw was unhinged when you told that girl a while nack to sell her horse! Glad she forgave you at the meet & greet!❤ Lots of love to you George!
Great job. Love it. This got me thinking I need to find some side hustles.
My favorite side hustle is dog sitting! I love dogs, and it’s fun to me. I’m super glad I do this
Top tier video as always! 🎉 I'd love to hear more about your music licensing and performing. That's a beautiful tele on your wall.
I fell in love with your dry humor I had to subscribe🤣
Great job George Kamel with a K!!! You and your team are knocking out these videos- I love them and share them with folks on their debt free journey. Keep on Truck'n!
Yep I have nothing better to do outside of my 9-5 and a few extra curricular’s so I am also going to put on my big girl britches! 😂 Trying to figure out where I would make the most ROI. The other video I saw recently has interesting ideas like the guy who pressure washes trash cans. You did approach this differently, appreciate it!
I did some dog sitting during the year and a half I worked from home. When I was laid off, I continued dog sitting and was able to support myself through that. Now that I’m working again, I still dog sit on the weekends or when it fits with my schedule. I’ve made pretty decent money doing so, and it works because I like dogs and can’t have my own right now.
P.S. That intro was completely ridiculous 😂
Did you set up a business for the dog sitting? How did you get the word out that you were dog sitting?
😂 Love your videos! You’re so entertaining and informative! ☺️ Your cut scenes crack me up. Lol.
This was a clever video, George. I knew the horse story.
Very informative and so entertaining too! Truck yeah!! Question.... I think I would also be good at creating Squarespace websites. How do you find people who would pay you to do this?
Love this channel. George is a beast.
Thanks for the practical and thought-out information. You guys are awesome 😄
Hilarious and educative!. Thanks George.
Thanks George. Much appreciated.
I have an unrelated question for you (and Mr. Ramsey) to consider. When saving for a house down payment, when you plan to buy the house within two years, I think it makes no sense to put the savings into mutual funds, because they are too risky in the short run. Better to go with a high-interest CD or savings account...
...but what about instead putting it into a REIT, backed by diversified _residential_ housing in _your_ _target_ _region?_ If housing prices rise, your deposit grows enough to match the growth in the deposit needed. If housing prices fall, you lose some money on your deposit, but your target just got smaller by the same percent.
I could see this making a lot of sense if you had a five-year horizon say, and were worried about the S&P500 movements not lining up with the movements in the housing market, but what about a two-year horizon?
Fell free to tell me this is nuts and why.
Oh, and my dog does know my name, and the name of my wife, and of each of the children, and of the cat, and of the two pet rabbits, and of the neighbors either side, and of her half-dozen best dog buddies.
Here for the Horse and Kamel show 😎
My favorite TH-camr
best intro yet
The Horse reference made me like the video.
eBay all day. Average 85-120k in sales a year as a side job. This was the first year I decided to take out my debt with it, paid off my car and finishing off my wife’s student loans before end of year, Then the 6 month emergency fund.
Thats awesome buddy! How competitive is it to sell stuff on ebay?
That intro though 😂😂😂😂
Hilarious 🤣
"At least my mother said so!" Lol😅😅😅
Thank you!
At what point do you need to be set up as a business? What's the threshold of income that you say okay I need a name, license, etc? Wondering how far I can get just offering consulting without having a business setup.
Another one! 🔥
I looked at a few side hustle options and then I realized it's just easier and more lucrative for me to just work OT at my regular job 😂
pretty much.
Same! I am a full-time college instructor. I can easily pick up extra money by teaching extra classes for my college and adjuncting for other colleges.
If you have a Masters degree, check out your local community college and see if you can adjunct for them.
lol right
I see those gains George... I see those gains.
My side hustle is being present for my kids. Any spare time I have left after work, time with family, chores around the home, and volunteering, is spent relaxing. If I feel like working, I do my day job so when it comes time to ask for more money, I don't have to do much convincing.
Where on the internet should I go to try to sell music for royalties? I've got 20 years worth of instrumental music just sitting on a hard drive that I"m not using but I have no idea where to put it to make money.
I play music as well. What site did you use for licensing your music
Let’s go!!
You are funny. I subscribed.
It's towards the end of the video....but don't forget to pay sour taxes on that sweet legal tender. If there's one trend I've seen watching these financial videos on TH-cam it's that few seem put aside for taxes as the money comes in.
I was wondering if the music thing would be on this list... the problem is not only do you need to have the skill set, but you need a lot of other expensive equipment such as a good computer, audio interface, microphones, etc. Either that or you're going to spend $3-400 per song to record, mix, and master.
Great video George. I umpired A TON of youth baseball games (start time 6pm) to make extra money working a 9-5. Curious if you have advice for editing my own TH-cam videos as a fun hobby that could eventually be monetized?
My brother made money as a hockey umpire and loved doing it. Good ide.
LOL George is hilarious
One thing I have learned on the taxes is that you don't have to submit quarterly. If you feel that you can't save money that long you can submit to the IRS twice a month for your estimated taxes. I found this much easier to budget this way then trying to estimate how much I should be saving every 4 months.
Thanks for that information!
In Denmark, they deduct the taxes before you get paid no matter what you do for work lol
I have a better solution. I set the money aside in an online savings account that currently generates 4.5% APR. That way it grows in a place that isn’t easily accessible (it would take a couple days to transfer to my bank), and when tax season rolls around, I can pay my self employment taxes and get a refund from myself (which I’ll probably take about 25% of and roll the rest over into my investment accounts).
Couldn't from side hustles he is talking about

Reselling is the best side hustle ever, especially if you don't own a car, want to set your own schedule and work from home. I started selling my own stuff and only made $300/mo. the first few months. Fast forward a year, I now make 10 times that. I know successful full-time resellers who make over $10K/mo.
Agreed. My husband and I resell as a side hustle and it's pretty lucrative.
What do you resell? Just cars?
.
Anyone else remember that KOA song Truck Love? Yeah...
I think the holy grail of side hustles are the ones that you can stack. Say, you can edit videos. Combine that with selling templates and assets, etc.
"That's right boss babes" 😂😂😂
I will shout from the rooftops… BUY a house. Avoid renting like the plague, put that “rent money” towards something that is actually yours and build equity. My husband and I bought our first home in 2016 at the ages of 20 and 22. It was the only reason we were able to sell and buy our farmhouse this past year 🎉🎉🎉
Been working on a book for the last four years. Hopefully that will go somewhere after I finish it. Not because I wanna be rich, but would be cool to be an author. Seen so many tic tok videos of people writing books and publishing, but I don’t wanna write another clone like they are all doing. My pride getting the best of me.
Hey George - just curious what website you uploaded your music to for licensing opportunities? Been offering my music to these types of services for years with minimal success. Some of them will try a bit harder than others to push your music, overall it's hard to tell which services are legit.
MusicBed was the best for me. But they are now extremely selective and only accept certain artists.
According to George I’m a boss babe 😌
I do doordash and uber eats after 5 pm to earn some extra money.
That bread 😂 George you are just enough borderline too much 😊
Cannot even relate to working these tech side hustle jobs - just go to a brick and mortar and do the hours - more comfortable with this - my age is definitely showing!
Painting :)
I wonder what website he used for music licensing 🤔🤔🤔
Ive been doing Pet Sitting since 2015 and money was good up until the pandemic hit and more and more pet sitters started coming out in my city so a lot of competition, so pet sitting has been super slow these last 2 years, it sucks.
Start at 3:15 if you're in a hurry
We rent out 2 cars on Turo for about $600-$700 each per month. My husband also does IT support after hours for another $800/ month. So easily taking in around $2k extra per month.
Selling Expressos is a great side hustle
So this is my first time doing Uber and DoorDash part time. Are you allowed to write off your Milage regardless if you take the Standard Deduction or does it count as itemized?
You can’t deduct both car expenses and mileage at the same time. IRS standard deduction rate for mileage is estimated as the average cost to use your car for work purposes. You can either deduct the standard mileage rate ($0.655 cents per mile in 2023) or you can itemize and deduct all of your car expenses. Consult a tax pro for more info.
Motivational
This 5 Side Hustles I Used To Build Wealth via the George Kamel youtube channel contains some very helpful ideas to implement. I also enjoyed some of the ways the youtube author describes how much money he made from some of the ideas he shared. I admit that the first inspiring idea alone grants me some inspiration towards setting a new years resolution towards both the saving up and eventual purchase of a car.
Yo I cannot with that intro lol
Weve never charged but weve helped on a farm and assisted seniors. Both very necessary. That gardener down the street may need help with weeding or picking or preserving. I was helping a cataract person with eyedrops 4 x a day. If they have no volunteers in their life they might be happy to pay.
What are good & trusted websites for music licensing?
What mortgage companies are good to go with when you have no credit because you use cash?
Churchill Mortgage is who we recommend
My wife and I pull in 8K a month flipping furniture as a side hustle. That’s net profit. We’re about to pay for credit card debt $18,500 in about 2 1/2 months time. It only took us 2 1/2 months to make this work with my salary and this side hustle.
I do Uber full time and make a minimum of $500 a week in just 25-30 hours. You only made $1000 a year? Or was that monthly?
I think it’s awkward how you don’t include TH-cam. Your number one side hustle.
not a side hustle if its a full time job lol
@@JakobRoseMorrisonlol you don’t just jump on TH-cam and call it a full time job. Making full time job money. It doesn’t work that way. It’s something you build over time. I think it’s shady he didn’t include it at least once in his list.
I see you have a channel of your own. You don’t make any money from it yet. But I do. Its starts off as a side hustle. He’s teaching you the little wins but left out the one thing that makes him successful. I found a couple of other online TH-cam money guys that are more open and most importantly Real about it. No need for me to stay here
Good luck
@@JakobRoseMorrison when you have multiple sources of income. You start to see EVERYTHING you do for work as a “side hustle” no matter how many hours spent. Nothing is really full time. If you consider 40 hours a week full time for something, Then you got a little bit more living to do.
Maybe not his but Ramseys?
11:24 and 11:27 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I almost spit out my food. I was like Huh 🥴🤷🏾♀️ then 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have started doing a few survey sites which allow me to earn amazon gift cards. That way I can buy some needed household things for free, like cleaning supplies, and other household items. It's not a lot of money, but the extra money sure comes in handy though with inflation being what it is now.
Truck ya!
If you have a Masters degree, check out your local university or community college and become an adjunct instructor. Nice side hustle. You do not have to be a certified teacher. They are often looking for experts practing in a field or discipline that are willing to teach.
❤❤❤
I would pay to watch George do a “I Tried Snake Milking” video. Do it for the fans, George. 🙏🏻
how
How about if you don't have any talents or skills?
George, you forgot - you made $5 from me when I bought your CD.
Sir Elton
Hey dude I’m a 13 year old kid so I can’t do some of these so do you know if there are any kid friendly beside huddles that make more than like 20 bucks a year. Also do you have a tutorial on how to make a website on square space I’m alright with ict and coding so I was wondering if you have a tutorial or could make one on making websites on square space. Thanks for your time.
If you have stuff to sell, you can start an eBay easily and start a small business that way, buying and selling things. Babysitting, cleaning, mowing lawns can bring in cash. At your age the more you can invest into funds that are likely to keep growing over the next 20 years. 10,000 at 13 can make you a millionaire by 30 with the right investment choices
@@NatS8445 thank you
Do you have a skill? At 14, I was teaching piano and music history. My son delivered papers and sale fliers, then by 14 was being paid for computer skills. Are you suburban? Mowing lawns and shoveling driveways and walks in winter.
Horse history - he doesn't even know your name 🤣🤣🤣
I had to pause for a moment to envision Mom Kamel assuring her son that he's ".... decent...." at guitar.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Mr T Cartoon that's what's up
That snippet brought back memories too...I'm a Gen Xer and remember that cartoon.😀
Ha
Good morning 🌞 🌄
First!
Steve O went to clown college and has more money than you
Right now Uber is the best option due to it's flexibility
You’re weird as hell. But it’s very alluring.
He’s not weird.. it’s called creative.. bro…..
George Bon Jovi😏
Don't forget your triceps
3:30
Don’t forget: If you sell off your too expensive car and replace it with a cheap “beater car”, you won’t be able to drive for Uber or Lyft. They have specific model year requirements. And it will increase your auto insurance costs.
all great ideas .. but it's easier for people to be lazy and make excuses, which is what they will do when they watch this video
Kamel love your energy always, but perhaps too many drops.
George, not gonna lie. You're much better at finances than singing. 😂
George talks trash, but he is a big fan of the video game Rocket Knight Adventures for Sega Genesis.
Try looking up side hustles for homeless people who don’t have cars and don’t know how to drive. Try again, George. The only truth you did say “These don’t work for everyone.”
homeless people probably don’t need more side hustles they just need to get a normal regular job if possible.
