  • What a Great Tarmac Weekend at HARS! From bright blue skies to heavy downpours, our historic aircraft put on an amazing show climaxed with the younger generation earning the captain's seat in one of our Museum's earliest aircraft, an ex-RAAF Lockheed Neptune from 1962. With 'Tracker Mania' our weekend theme, we videoed exciting views of our former RAN Grumman Tracker 844's engine startup, wing extension, taxi & take-off from a Vietnam-era Kiowa helicopter which then conveniently swung around for a complete view of world-class museum. Our classic ex-RAAF 'Dakota' (C47/DC3) then roared through its uniquely-sounding take-off and gentle landing.
And then the next day, totally opposite skies gave us a very different view of just-back Lockheed Neptune long-range surveillance aircraft firing up with commercial pilot Mark Durden finally in the left, or Captain's Seat, and his first runway challenge. All to hearty congratulations from HARS President and Chief Pilot Bob De La Hunty whose purchase of the Neptune back in 1988 was an early milestone in the Museum we are today.
Tarmac Days are a regular feature at the HARS Aviation Museum, 100 kms south of Sydney, on the second Friday and then Saturday & Sunday each month when something's always going on. Customers wander freely among our vast collection of historic commercial and military aircraft with our knowledgeable tour guides always on hand. Come see us soon.
