I have a shutter equipped with a terrapin x bearing (delta cut). This setup is amazing in my opinion. I love the play.

The shutter is my favorite yoyo and my first metal. Good video Brandon. I don't know if you remember me but I've just gotten back into yo young and I got a lot better. I hope to do one of the online contests soon.

I have a shutter and I would recommend it to ANYBODY from a beginner of three weeks of yo-yoing "like me" or an expert like Brandon. Oh and by the way if you like grinds get the matte finish thats what I have. :)
My suggestion would be reviewing the One Drop Vanguard after the YYF Horizon.

Does having a different bearing from a flat bearing help with string tricks?
Yes absolutely, mainly with spin time and horizontal tricks.
+OverlordAD YT It just needs the standard maintenance that any other unresponsive yoyo needs. If you need more specifics, it uses 19mm slim size response pads (which are the same thing as brake pads), uses C size bearings and doesn't use any spacers.

The wide angle shutter basically is better for almost everything

i just bought an iyoyo brand yoyo and ive never dabbled with them, i haven't gotten it in the mail yet, but could you maybe do a review over one or two of them? most ofthe yoyos you use for reviews are yoyofactory and yoyorecreation and on the occasion sOMETHING or G2 and i figured an iyoyo could slide in there right? ;)

I prefer the shutter and the big dipper. The horizon is still good and it is extremely good for finger spins. But I felt that the shutter could hold it's own in every aspect a little better than the horizon.

No actually, Ive never personally encountered that problem, but all my Shutters are in pretty good condition...
Have you heard of this problem with any yoyo in general? Im not trying to criticize the shutter or anything.

Have you ever tried the Hidra yoyo? I'm torn between that one and the shutter.

I ended up getting both the Shutter and the Hidra and I like them both pretty equally. I love the Hidra for its grinds, and the Shutter is really sturdy and doesn't tilt very easily.

Any string, the string preference depends on you not the yoyo.

I did too, hate I waited so long to get it.
So I got a shutter a couple months back and it came with the spec bearing which rubbed on the side giving no sleep time. I switched it out for a yyf 10 ball I had and it works great but I want to know what bearing you would recommend for this yoyo specifically? I know in another video you said you like crucial groove bearings and for the price I thought about getting one of those. Thoughts? And thanks your videos are awesome!
+Mckenon Abreu For a Shutter, I just run them with Centre Trac's. They're not my favourite bearing but the Shutter isn't my competition Yoyo so I'm not too fussed.
Can you tell us what's the best cheap metal you that's unresponsive plastic is ok but I like most is spin time pls do it
The Replay Pro and skyva are super good plastic yoyos that has some long spin times, they are both about 15 to 20 dollars, but if you are looking for a good metal yoyo get a magic yoyo n12
didn't Hiroyuki win 3 years in a row with a Speeder? that was about $40 iirc, also Jensen with a North Star. Not to mention that Andre Boulay and Johnnie DelValle , albeit from a time when all yoyos were cheaper and plastic, both won with relatively cheap yoyos.
Other than that though nice review, I think the shutter is a great yoyo for that price though and Gentry definitely deserves any hype he gets dude is pretty crazy.
+ImMarkiee With regards to Jensen you do have a point, his Worlds win was pretty revolutionary for its time, in regards to Hiroyuki Suzuki though. The Speeder for it's time was a very premium end Yoyo. Yoyo's with Plastic and Metal were seen to be the premium and $40 for a Yoyo back then was seen as quite expensive.

It's not ideal, but it's the main way to play these days so it should work out fine for you.
