It only needs suspension if you're actually going to ride it. I suspect this only gets parked outside bear caves so that 60 year old carpet distribution sales managers can use it to attract other bears who like tassels.
@@monkeyCmonkeyDoo ooh, completely uncalled for misogyny. What a great way to entice young women into a pastime that suffers from being a major sausage fest.
A lot of hateful comments. I bought this bike as my first Harley and I love it. Yes, it is very expensive and I am spending on it. However it's really fun to ride and I love the looks. I can keep up with kawa z900s and mt09s. Will add taller suspension and change the tyres, so that it will corner even better, but will still have that looks. In non racetrack environments it actually outperforms the Pan Am, because it's lighter and the torque is better. Once you swap the battery to lithium ion and the exhaust to a light racy one, the weight will go down to 215 kgs. For comparison the z1000sx (my previous bike) was 234kg 140hp and 110nm. The Sportster S now weighs 215kgs has 121hp and 125nm. Yes the FTR S comes out of the factory with much better lean angle and taller suspension but the ergonomics made me want to ride it like a hooligan and the 'dad' instincts kicked in so I chose this. No regrets. This is a major step in the right direction for HD. Not for everyone, for sure and it does have issues, mainly with the short suspension travel
it weights almost exactly 500lbs and with 110whp it will still be quite quick...to put it into perspective, it weights about 40lbs less than a Ducati Diavel 1260 and according to the Cycleworld Dyno, makes more torque/power all the way until 7000rpm.
@@RaceWithTime lol comparison to a Diavel. Ducati Website stats state 157 hp 95 ftp lb. of torque, obviously that is at the crank. It is not just quickness, such can be changed with sprocket changes. Looking for top speed or just get to 120 mph quickly. Still 500 lbs. is a lot of weight nowadays. I prefer 450 lbs. or less preferably. As that lower weight has a lot of benefits beyond fast or quick. Everything is not about straight line speed from one stop light to another. One reason why so many Harley riders go to aftermarket frames, is a big weight reduction. To each their own. But trying to pass of a new Harley as something that is it is not. Is just kinda lame. There are numerous brands that have sub 450 lb. down to almost 400 lbs. with the same hp. My 23 year old Ducati ST2 (sport tour) not stock, does almost the same hp as this Harley. Weighs with panniers and all the shit, about 500 lbs. Bet it handles better. Besides my other bikes & all the other bikes I have had over 54 years. I would not call the new Harley Sportster S quick or fast. Perhaps that would be quick and or fast when comparing to a 800 lb. Harley!
@@SinOjOs-Transport I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue. You made a claim about its power and weight which by its nature is a claim about straight line performance and I responded with a comparison to another known very fast vehicle, the Diavel (that’s powered by a similar sized V2). I understand the Duc makes more peak power but my point was that through most of the rpm range the Harley will accelerate as well or better because it makes more power until about 7k rpm’s and is lighter weight. Also for a cruiser, 500lbs is pretty light. As I said even the Diavel/XDiavel is 40lbs heavier. This bike isn’t trying to be a Street Triple, it’s a power cruiser and it’s the lightest one in that class. It’s fine if you don’t think this is a quick bike, but then that also means you don’t think 600cc sport bikes are quick, or the Diavel, or an MT-09 or a bunch of other stuff that accelerates similar. Also unless you managed to add 40hp to your ST2 you aren’t making anywhere near Sportster S power
It weighs 228kg wet. With a lithium battery and aftermarket exhaust it is down to 215kg. I usually outrun sportier bikes with this (mt09, z900) because of the torque and this is a sports cruiser. What needs to be improved is shocks/ suspension travel and it needs a slimmer front tyre

Cruise control and traction and abs is great even leaning it’s got plenty of tech and got mine for cheaper than I paid for an 883 to start on lol. You are the reason Harley is stuck building antiquated, overweight and underpowered bikes. This, despite the single disc brake and silly seating position, at least is relevant to the modern world.
Give it another year of production perhaps, let all the Gremlins that infected this new Engine to be purged out, give the Bike better suspension, stock mid-Foot pegs, and it should be a Bike people keep instead of trade in, in a year. but then again, Harley doesn’t care if you trade it in because they make money that way. 🤷🏻♂️

Nice midrange torque. But I still would choose any other competitor (FTR, Speed twin, z900rs) than this Harley.
And only one brake disc at the front?
I would have bought a Bronx. I ended up buying a Speed Twin.
My speed twin made 96whp/89lb-ft on the dyno with mods. Not too far off from this Sportster and a much better riding experience in general!
If you squint they look the same 😂😂😂 you were never gonna buy one
Why detune the engine VS the Pan America 1250?
They would have made a monster...
To sell you the squealing beagle hop up kit
because that would be too much power for all the women that buy Sportsters.
Better torque curve. It's not just about peak numbers. This is a better street tune.
