Today we are having a go at creating our own clear melt and pour soap base from scratch. This is a very different process than the one we use to create our usual cold process soaps and we have followed the video guide by Soaping 101 for today's video. If you wish to learn more about creating your own melt and pour base from scratch, then we recommend the following video from Soaping 101:
    • How to Make Clear Melt...
By carefully selecting our ingredients, we have managed to ensure that our own melt and pour base is palm oil free. If being palm free is important to you too, then be careful when selecting which stearic acid and Propylene glycol to purchase as both of these can be derived from palm in some cases.
As this is our first ever attempt, I want to make it clear that this is not a tutorial. This video is designed to take you behind the scenes of our business and show you what steps we take when we first think about introducing new product lines.
We will be showing part two of this experiment next Friday. Part two will show you how our melt and pour soap turns out and will also show us remelting it and adding in some colours and fragrances to create some new soaps.

We will be uploading new soap making videos every Friday and new behind the scenes/business focused videos every Tuesday!

As the perpetrator of a recent failed soap experiment myself I can't deny it's good to see even the professionals struggle sometimes! 😂 Crossing my fingers yours sorts itself out for part two.

Eagerly awaiting next week's video!!!! The struggle is real!!! Every time I order cocoa butter online, they end up out of stock, been driving me cray since June!!! My homemade soaping escapades have been at a standstill because of this. Hopefully I can soap soon, until then, I have my Soap Queen to learn new tricks from!!!

Thank you for taking the trouble to introduce us to the mysteries of M&P making. I think I'll give it a miss and stick to CP! 😄😄

Soap and Clay has a couple of videos out for doing your own melt & pour bases - not clear as yet but you might want to check her out if you haven't done so already - also as I'm watching yours Ariane Arsenault from Canada is doing a melt and pour demo - as always you keep it real and it's very much appreciated :)

Been debating on trying this for awhile. Melt and pour has gotten so expensive here and I figured why not give it a try. Waiting on my glycerin to come. Lol. Curious to see how yours turns out. Thanks for sharing!!

Do you cook the soap for 3-8 hours? How long do you leave in the crockpot?

What calculator do you use to formulate the recipe for melt and pour soap base?
