I was at a friend’s wedding about 5 months ago and everyone was having a blast during the reception. This song came on and I remember looking around at everyone enjoying themselves and thinking “This is what The Cars wanted out of their music.”
@Dwane Martin Moyer No he did not. I recall him saying once he did not like that he was the star in all the Cars' music videos and tried to emphasize they're The Cars, not the Ric Ocasek Show. Hell, Ric was even the star in the music video for "Drive," a song for which Ben Orr was the lead singer! Although the fact remains that Ric wrote all of the Cars' hits (with exception of "Moving in Stereo," which he co-wrote with keyboardist Gregg Hawkes).
80's hits different. My papa said this band was really great back then till up to now, their songs never fades❤ My father always play this song almost every morning 5am the whole neighborhood get up early because of the sounds that really great to hear.😂😅
We are so blessed to see our Bostonian friends able to change to the times !! Ric's concepts are Iconic and Ben's capture of love really made them so ICONIC !!! FOREVER LOVED.
Many were, i was young and surrrrrrounded by them back them often. Without cell phones on us back then most people were innocent in many ways and connected to the moments around them more .
Another piece of my youth drifts away. I played this music on Saturday nights cruising in my 68 Camaro, which is also gone now. Rest in peace, and may your voice be heard all over the world forever. You and Ben Orr are what made The Cars the coolest sound back in the mid 80's. Easton's guitar riff is proof of that in this energetic tune.

I really liked listening to The Cars back in the day. Fine group of musicians with a unique style. The word underrated gets tossed around quite a bit in music, but seriously their lead guitarist could shred with the best of'em in my opinion.
On their reunion tour in 2011, Easton was playing right in front of me the whole time. His extended bridge during You're All I've Got Tonight will probably be embedded in my head for the rest of my life! One of the best guitar performances I've ever seen.
Especially how I'm feeling right now, I hate reading these types of comments. Watching one of these 80's music vids ppl are always talking about time machines and going back and wanting that more than anything. I want to cry at this very moment. Dreams and wishes my friend.
Talk about a group who is well-put-together and whose tunes NEVER GET OLD!!!!! This group picks me up! High modern energy music. And they have evolved! Thank you CARS!!
The largest group of high quality, upbeat, music ever created. You can almost feel the happy. Rick Ocasek, and Ben Orr were geniuses. Still crisp today. The 80s Beatles.
I'm one of biggest Cars fans there is. I will never forget when I heard "My Friends Girl" for the first time. I was in my car and it came on the radio, I imediatly headed to the music store and bought the album. and over the years I have purchased every album they have ever made. including the solo works and even the Anthology. I know every song and all the lyrics, they were a very important part of my life. it's a shame that Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocasek are gone. Elliott Easton is still at it the last I knew he had a group called "The Empty Heart's" that was pretty cool, he's an extremely underated guitarist. Elizabeth Acevedo Very well said. He was a musical genius!
Me Toooo
@Dwane Martin Moyer No he did not. I recall him saying once he did not like that he was the star in all the Cars' music videos and tried to emphasize they're The Cars, not the Ric Ocasek Show. Hell, Ric was even the star in the music video for "Drive," a song for which Ben Orr was the lead singer! Although the fact remains that Ric wrote all of the Cars' hits (with exception of "Moving in Stereo," which he co-wrote with keyboardist Gregg Hawkes).
And Benjamin Orr.

2021 anyone? I love The Cars 💖 My dad raised me on them.
Your dad raised you right. The Cars were awesome.
Soooo underrated in my opinion!
🖤🙋♀️
Was it doggy
I’m here and also raised on the cars and many other 80s classics.
80's hits different. My papa said this band was really great back then till up to now, their songs never fades❤ My father always play this song almost every morning 5am the whole neighborhood get up early because of the sounds that really great to hear.😂😅
You father sounds like a great man..
The 80s was the best ever...
Yes.
We are so blessed to see our Bostonian friends able to change to the times !! Ric's concepts are Iconic and Ben's capture of love really made them so ICONIC !!! FOREVER LOVED.
My God, 80s chicks looked so wholesome. Great song too BTW
Many were, i was young and surrrrrrounded by them back them often.
Without cell phones on us back then most people were innocent in many ways and connected to the moments around them more .
You can't have 80s music without The Cars! One of my favorite 80s bands!
I can see why they put it on the re-release of Heartbeat City, it sounds like the production of it and style.
Hermano querido cada dia que pasa te extraño mas y mas y esta musica tan tuya me hace sentir que estas aca al lado mio lo mejor de los.80 for ever titannmmn hermano te amooooo
Elliot Easton can do more in 18 seconds than most guitar players in a lifetime.
Vrdd 😆😆😆
Vrdd😆😆😆
he's amazing
This is my favorite solo of his.
@@forgotmyname4971: Same...it's absolutely genius!
I love the cars.
This one hurts, rest in peace Ric. Thank you for all the great tunes over the years!
RIP Ric. Your music will live forever.
I really liked listening to The Cars back in the day. Fine group of musicians with a unique style.
The word underrated gets tossed around quite a bit in music, but seriously their lead guitarist could shred with the best of'em in my opinion.
Absolutely. Slash says he’s his Idol.
Elliott Easton was definitely underrated. When it comes to The Cars it's easy to look at Rick or Ben but the reality is they were all good.
On their reunion tour in 2011, Easton was playing right in front of me the whole time. His extended bridge during You're All I've Got Tonight will probably be embedded in my head for the rest of my life! One of the best guitar performances I've ever seen.
Suddenly the women of the 80s look so classy
lmao!
A 1980s time machine please. PLEASE.
Especially how I'm feeling right now, I hate reading these types of comments. Watching one of these 80's music vids ppl are always talking about time machines and going back and wanting that more than anything. I want to cry at this very moment. Dreams and wishes my friend.
"PURO PINCHE CAR'S", FROM CORCORAN, CALIFORNIA!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💯👑
The Cars are absurdly underrated that guitar by Elliott Easton ♥️♥️
I enjoy Ric Ocasek's music. Love to hear him sing!!
Remember when this song came out i was in my 20's to
And still listening to this music in July of 2024
Talk about a group who is well-put-together and whose tunes NEVER GET OLD!!!!! This group picks me up! High modern energy music. And they have evolved! Thank you CARS!!
Such great fun music. The Cars were part of my soundtrack in life. Thank you for the memories.
Exactly - they helped me through a Divorce !
The largest group of high quality, upbeat, music ever created. You can almost feel the happy. Rick Ocasek, and Ben Orr were geniuses. Still crisp today. The 80s Beatles.
One of my favorite lead guitar solo's ever.
Yes!! It is a absolute a great guitar solo.
One of their best songs. Ocasek was a master of power pop and melodies!!
The Cars will always be one of my all time favorite groups ever.
Back in the 80’s,Me and my then boyfriend used to cruise around in his brothers gold Camaro blasting the Cars on the radio . Great times❤️R.I.P. Ric💔
That's cool!!! 😎 Rick will be miss. 🎸 🚗 🎶 🎧
A performance for all time. The group the Cars are, in my opinion, forever great performers.
