All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of Nightwish and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!!!!!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!!!!!!😀👍👍👍👍👍🤘
This was the first Nightwish video I had ever seen. I came upon Nightwish totally by accident (the best accident I ever had happen to me) searching You Tube for the Phantom Of The Opera because we were were about to head to Las Vegas and we had tickets for the Phantom stage show out there.
When thats your 1st look at Tarja...its impressive as heck. Tarja was fired directly after this show...the show closer was Wish I Had An Angel. This whole 2005 End of an Era concert was *intense* ...the guys all know what's coming after the concert, having no idea what was next! Over The Hills and Far Away is a Gary Moore song. The Nightwish version w Floor, original video, is filled with personal behind the scenes photos...you're going to love it!

Tarja's vibrato at the end matching the beat of Jukka's drums is insane, she's so good!! And Marko!! Her voice was super velvety, dark and smooth back then... Walking in the Air and Deep Silent Complete and Fantasmic 3 are really good. Also Wishmaster and Nemo. Thank you for checking her out!
No one like Tarja! 💛 Her and Nightwish put some really iconic and magical music into this world! Deep Silent Complete (From Wishes to Eternity concert) is very beautiful :)
Yep, this is Tarja. lol She is the most operatic of the 3. From the 2005 Helsinki concert, same show as the High Hopes video you watched. DVD was entitled End of An Era because this is her last Nightwish show. It was on the Century Child album (2002) Andrew Lloyd Weber loved it too. I believe he called it his favorite or one of his favorite versions. Over the Hills and Far Away was a cover of a Gary Moore song. For more Tarja: Wishmaster, Planet Hell, or The Siren from this same show.
I started with this version of the band then the two excellent 'Anette' albums and now Floor. I just enjoy the talents of all members past and present.
The Nightwish world is vast! 3 magnificent lead singers, great reaction as always 😉🤟 Have a blast at Tarja and Floor dueting "Over the Hills...", a proper fanboy fantasy!
The competition in that duet is not who can outsing the other. Its who can be more humble and self effacing. Each LADY asking the mixing desk to lower HER own mic to make the other louder in return. In fact the audio suffers due to this but its great to see such love and generosity.
They fired Tarja right after this show... And Tarja was even sick here. She is a beast as are most of the band members. Tarja was basically the reason why we have Symphonic Metal. Tuomas and Emppu were putting the band together and they didn't have this in mind... They needed a vocalist and they knew Tarja from their school days. She had gone into opera singing training and agreed to come sing with Tuomas and Emppu. Things changed very rapidly after this and with her awesome vocals on board they had to kick up the music to match and this is why we have a genre of music known as Symphonic Metal. There were other female vocalists on metal bands back then, but no Opera singers. And this is what set Nightwish apart from the rest from day 1. And Tuomas gradually gains the courage to go all out with his grandiose ideas as they put more and more albums out. And the incident when they fired Tarja kicked it up again to another level from sound perspective. Annette came in to do the vocals after Tarja, but she couldn't do many of the Tarja tracks. Tarja and Floor are friends and are absolute powerhouses with their vocals. Annette was more of a pop singer and couldn't do the opera stuff, so she is kind of the odd woman out of the trio. As incredible as Floor is, there are still some old Tarja songs, where she can't quite hit it like Tarja did, but Floor is way more versatile than either of the others combined. Fantastic singers all! Even though they are sopranos all, there are massive differences between them... And Tuomas, oh Tuomas, he has gained the nick name of "Metal Mozart" and he is a master of his craft on composing these songs and has masterfully used all the tools at his disposal with all the changing bass players, singers, drummers etc. Tuomas makes this engine purr like it does. And he can't get enough credit for it... It has been a little touch and go for the entire band, but still going strong 25+ years later. The entire band is unbelievable.
We would have symphonic metal without Tarja, as Nightwish wasn't the only band there which started doing that. But if one would say "operatic metal" then yeah, she was the inspiration for classical trained vocalists in the genre.
Tarja was trained in chamber music. And her versatility is a hell of a lot more than what nightwish allowed. There is a movie version of Phantom with Emmy Rossum and Gerald Butler. But it pales before the power of Marko and Tarja both of whom are classically trained. Go check out Tarja's 15 year career as a solo star when she sings what she wants to sing and then you will understand. Don't pigeon hole her for a concert filmed October 21, 2005 in Hartwell Arena , Helsinki Finland. And earlier. She had 1/5th vote of what gets chosen. Her career so far will be shown best by Living the dream her best of collection Dec 02 2005. And the term for what the ladies up front were going through is a Targasm.
This was the video that introduced me to Nightwish about 7 yrs ago. I had been searching for different videos of "The Phantom of the Opera" and this popped up. I clicked on it and my focus of music changed forever. Tarja was awesome and I was stunned and wanted more.. I started puling up more - and then - came Floor!!!!! Haven't been the same since. :-)
Suggestions? All of this concert End of an Era and Wishes to Eternity concert. As well as her entire solo career. There is a version of Over the Hills with both Tarja and Floor. It's a cover, but not Zeppelin. You really need to hear Tarja's cover of Supremacy (hellfest) and Crimson Deep(beauty and the beats) and Victim of Ritual(Woodstock) Oh and her duet of Paradise with Within Temptation.
Andrew Lyord Weber said in a interview. This is his favorite off stage cover of this song. This is so bittersweet to watch. Knowing what happened at the end of this show. She got handed "the letter".
yep. This was the first song I ever heard/saw from Nightwish. Ghost Love Score, with Floor, was my second. Third was Amaranth, with Anette. All in one hour. To say I was confused was an understatement.
Nightwish's 3 singers: 1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005 2. Annette: 2006 to 2012 3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+ everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out. so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does back when with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish (many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here) ---------- if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones: (just make sure the song performances are before 2006, else it's not tarja who is singing) (NOT ranked, just listed) 1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down) 2. Phantom of the Opera (her duet with Marco, really good, both of them together, this song was actually used in the Phantom of the Opera remake movie in 2004) 3. Wishmaster 4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well) 5. End of All Hope 6. Dead Boy's Poem 7. Nemo (watch the official music video and also her live performance of it) 8. Kinslayer 9. she is my sin 10. wish I had an angel 11. slaying the dreamer 12. the siren 13. dead to the world 14. 10th man down 15. walking in the air 16. ghost love score 17. dark chest of wonders and many more too ------ this is about the 'phantom of the opera' with tarja nightwish, but it applies to tarja for all other NW songs too: Tarja has her own stage performance/presence, but the focus is on the entire band (much more respectful), unlike with floor, where the focus is almost entirely on her, and also, Phantom of the Opera isn't about that much showmanship, so you're not seeing more of Tarja's performance/presence (love how the camera work and Tarja worked together, with her ducking down, seeing Marcus as he delivered his singing, and then Tarja stands back up, seeing her face back in the camera as Marco's part ends and hers begins again, Tarja is really such a team player, as she could have had all the focus upon herself, like Floor gets, but instead she chooses to give the entire band the respect and focus that they too deserve, it's not all about Tarja, like it is with Floor, despite how good Tarja is and thus how she could be the entire focus with nightwish, as is Floor with nightwish) there's other songs, where Tarja was way way way more stage performance/presence/showmanship, including hair windmills, rocking an invisible guitar along with empuu rocking his guitar, along with her doing her squatting too as she sings and taps her foot/leg to it, as she's swinging those hips too, along with her getting the crowd involved as well too, and etc stuff, you got to watch way more songs, to really see her amazing stage presence/performance and showmanship, as Phantom of the Opera is likely the one song with the least of that stuff, due to the nature of the song itself, being about their singing (contrasting and then cacophonous harmonous duet, nothing can compete with Tarja and Marco voices duet'ing), though Marco and Tarja had a bit of showmanship and fun snuck into it, with Marco pointing to his face and Tarja's facial expression reactions, while both song their parts
Over the Hills an Far Away is a Gary Moore song and Nightwish cover is amazing, there is also a live version with Tarja and Floor at Tarja's solo show, they are good friends.
If you haven't seen the cover of that song by a group called The Iron Cross, you should absolutely check it out. It's a bunch of teenagers from Romania, and they crush it. They blew my mind. I'm not saying it's as good as Nightwish's cover by any means, but for a bunch of kids it's freaking amazing. Hope you'll check it out.
Those audience girls were with Goth fashion, and Tarja was the role model and idol especially for them. Although Tarja in general was and probably still is the top celebrity in Finnish music scene, at least in metal. She was on top pf her popularity back then.
The last show with Tarja. "The End of an Era" dvd in 2005. Tuomas handed her the letter right after this show. The end of the first era of Nightwish which led to "The Poet and the Pendulum". "Over the Hills and far Away" is a song from Gary Moore. R.I.P. For you Wolfman 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Marko is so good at stealing the shows that I occasionally watch The Poet And The Pendulum (Wembley 2016) to hear how Marko wipes the floor in the last part with just his backing vocals.
@@fredverkerk838 You have two things to listen to in the Mother and Father part: Marko's bass and backing vocals, so what the heck is catching your attention?
if you're interested in hearing more of Tarja in her time at Nightwish, you could try "The Siren", "Slaying the Dreamer" and "Ever Dream" from this same concert: I would personally suggest you dive in the Wishes to Eternity concert and react to "Beauty of the Beast" and "Beauty and the Beast" (yes, they're different songs) from NW's earlier albums. If you ever want to hear Tarja's rendition of GLS, avoid the End of an Era version: she was visibly sick and vocally spent there. Go instead for the 2004 Montreal version or the 2005 Lowlands version, where she's in her full power. Thanks for the excellent reaction and gracefulness.
@@outlaw71 it's probably my favourite version of the song until now. I love that you get to hear her chest voice utilised so well, in a style the band hadn't much ventured into before.
This is 2005 at Tarja's final concert. She was fired immediately after this show. (That is why they named the DVD "End on an Era") "Walking in the Air" , Nemo, "Dead Boys Poem" and "Ever Dream" by Tarja are very good. You can do the studio video's on those because these are the originals. Tarja is the reason the songs were composed the way they were composed.
I have been waiting for this one. This is amazing. And Tarja was very sick with the flu here. She wasn't sure if she would be able to perform. And she goes out and do this fantastic show. And afterwards she was handed the infamous letter that she was finished with Nightwish. A lot of things at the same time. Another reaction I would like to see is from this same consert. "Over the hills and far away". A cover of Gary Moore version of that song from the 80's (Not the Led Zeppelin one) Hahahahahaha If you want a really early performance I suggest "Walking in th air" from Wishes to eternity DVD (its here on TH-cam also) That's even befor Marko joined. The bassplayer at that time was Sami Väänskä
@@SueSueandthewolfman I think you'll love Tommy Johansson's cover too, he is singing BOTH parts. I would love to hear Tommy and Marko duett on this one
Tarja is on the first five albums, annette is on albums 6-7, floor is on 8-9. The original drummer is on the first seven albums (the best) Floor inherited an all time catalogue.
Just awesome...NW heavy version ! They also act the roles so well. In the end of this very concert they published the famous letter for her. This concert is one of the most grand by them....check it through...you agree. Tarja era was 1996...2005 and they made 5 albums and actually created the whole concept from a school band to be the pioneer and leader of this genre in the world. I found them in 1998 and naturally fixed this to be the one and only lineup of the band.
They published the letter overnight on the website. But told Tarja not to open her copy until the next morning. They blindsided her. Was not the first time. Lack of communication is ultimately led to the split.
@@SueSueandthewolfman I hope you'll enjoy Tarja just as I have. Or even more 😁 Get hold of whatever you can from the End of an Era concert in Helsinki (the one you just watched). I'm sure by now you know it was her last with Nightwish (and that it ended rather sadly and ugly).
@@MisterHowzat yeah we heard about the bar blood between them. I do hope they have resolved that, I don’t want to go through life with unresolved issues! 🐺 Wolfman
It may be difficult for some people to differentiate the styles of Tarja's voice, but she does some beautiful belting in this same show. and she grew a lot in these 17 years. she composes, she plays the piano in concerts, she is more versatile with her voice and with her songs because she also mixes electronic music in her new project ft. EDM pioneer Torsten Stenzel, with guitar greats like Trevor Rabin, Al Di Meola, Mike Oldfield, SONS OF APOLLO's Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal, LIVING COLOR's Vernon Reid and Marty Friedman. I am grateful that Tarja is always looking for new things but she doesn't advertise so this is not very well known.
Tarja singing Everdream at this same End of an Era Show is amazing. Also, definitely check out Fantasmic from early Nightwish days with Tuomas out from behind his keyboard headbanding with Tarja- a special fan favourite moment from Nightwish th-cam.com/video/7NGE3ZAubeY/w-d-xo.html
Wouldn't you just want tot watch the whole opera with Nightwish...I would. This whole concert is amazing, and I really hope you would check out Creek Mary's Blood from this same concert. It was in 2005.
At your reaction time stamp of 2:06, you can see Tuomas give Tarja one of those "looks" - always wondered what was going on in "The Metal Maestro's head at this point in time knowing that the termination letter, signed by every member of the band, was going to be given to Tarja right after this concert - also keep in mind that this was the time frame which caused Tuomas wrote The Poet & The Pendulum and we know what that was about!
I bet he was thinking "what a cowardly act to fire someone by letter who he has known for years and classed as a friend knowing it would ruin that friendship forever"
Very rare for Nightwish to perform a non Tuomas composition, but that Marko/Tarja rendition absolutely smashes any show performance. If I had to listen to only one Nightwish front girl it would be Floor, but appreciation of Nightwish NEEDS proper consideration of Tarja and Anette. I love your reactions and am so pleased you are including pre Floor work, more please.
This is only version for me I want to listen. Marko is amazing and Tarja's vocals are great too. I would like to make few recommention... Another great Finnish band called Poets Of The Fall. Not metal but more like pop/rock. I love them and I think you could like them too 👍😊 And Amorphis, Finnish metal band. They have actually toured with Nightwish sometimes. Also Marko helped their singer with some vocals atleast one of their album. Their singer Tomi Joutsen went to record to Marko's home studio and Marko gave some coaching as he is metal legend in Finland 😁
If you love the sound of female front fingers for metal bands, Please do the latest release from Within Temptation, released one month ago.... DON'T PRAY FOR ME ... It is an epic music video production but it is so new they obviously don't have any live versions out there yet.
If you want to hear Floor sing this then her appearence on the Show Beste Zangers will have to suffice, she Performs it with Theatre singer Henk Poort, someone she really looks up to. I really reccomend hearing/seeing it at least once.
Now you have heard all 3 singers you can see the big difference in their styles. Tarja, with her very operatic singing style was a massive part of what made Nightwish into the massive band they are. Those 5 albums with her on vocals are when the band grew to arena headlining levels over here in Europe. Those albums include most of the 'classic' songs such as Ghost Love Score, Nemo, Sleeping Sun, Romantacide, Ever Dream, Wish I Had An Angel, Dark Chest Of Wonders, Wishmaster etc etc. Then they had that big break up with Tarja, hired a much more pop style singer in Annette (which was a strange decision and got quite a bit of backlash from fans of the classic nightwish style of operatic vocals with metal music). They did 2 albums with Annette with did feature great songs like Storytime, Poet And The Pendulum, Amaranth, 7 Days to The Wolves etc. Then had a big fall out with her and hired Floor. The 2 albums they have made with Floor have been a little disappointing imo (compared to earlier albums) but still have some v good songs like Greatest Show On Earth, Yours is and Empty Hope and Noise, but overall I think their earlier albums had better songs. Floor is fantastic though and does a brilliant job of singing all those older songs really well. Some even better than the original (Poet being a massive example of this).
@@rnowak85 that's really great if that is the Nightwish album you enjoy the most. Personally the recent albums don't give me the same goosebumps that Wishmaster, Century Child and Once did, but that's just personal experience. I can totally imagine that some people like the newer albums more. I have friends who love the Anette albums more than any others, and that's cool as well. It's all subjective and about what grabs you personally at the end of the day. That's the great thing about music - you can't control what gives you goosebumps.
@@rosswhite5975 Totally agree. Art and music is all about what speaks to you. The fun part is sharing what we love and why with people who have a different perspective. That is how we learn and grow. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
This was her last show with night wish as she was fired after the show was completed. If you watch the entire show you can see the other band members looking at each other and at her.
Love this...i like Tarja the most because the music with her in mind was the best work...now they are kinda boring. Since Marco is gone anyway. She had some problems with her transistions at the time and her accent was sometimes a bit weird but the dark, velvet voice made their music so special. Floor is a great vocalist and great front woman but some songs with her are to light and poppy. Campfire music. Liked her early stuff more.
Great reaction guys. Very popular first listen for Tarja era Nightwish but for me not the best song to showcase Tarja's voice. Great song and her vocals are good but Marko totally steals the show. Songs like Sleeping Sun (love the second music video with the medieval battle scene, th-cam.com/video/PDPMUz8Oy8M/w-d-xo.html), The Siren, Nemo, Planet Hell, and Everdream are better showcases for her gorgeous dark operatic voice. I especially love Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan from the same End of an Era concert. One of the few Nightwish songs in Finnish. Just an amazing performance that really hits emotionally and shows Tarja's artistry and skill.
Be sure to check out new interview video with Marko put up recently. He discusses his new direction, his leaving Nightwish, and his issues with Depression and ADHD.
A little off topic, hope you guys are still considering Sons of Winter and Stars by Wintersun, Kai works even harder on the drums than Time, and you see more of back up singing Yukka.
Timo Metsänoja did put it together without anything to add to. There are old Songs, when hearing them today, just have to be performed for me by Tarja. None of the Concerts Setlist of the last Decades really include Them. When seeing how the Finnish Teens nearly Fade away when she starts singing, thats the Key for me. At This Time, there was nothing else in the Metal World, not even to mention pop, that could compare with NW for me. Soundstages of extraordinary Quality and Versataility. And after this Concert we learned, that they are also only Humans, Twens, not really aware what they will unleash with their Actions, I only blame partly Marko as the most Adult, and in my eyes for full the back then in Charge Management of the Band, not settle Things with Tarjas Husband in hard Contracts, and foremost to let the Dispute go viral, going on with two hate Songs on the next Album(Master Passion Greed, Bye Bye Beautifull), it all got the Feeling like they stringed their Puppets for, well Money, as with any other Artitst who was dump or unexpirienced enough to be guided in this Ways. And the switch to more poppy, easy to dig Music, they finally lost an Fan in me- and i think aside with many others. till 2013Wacken There, they got me Back:). Stay Healthy NWA Bavaria North
Tuomas and Emppu were starting the band, then old friend Tarja came in and transformed it into metal, and four or five albums later when Marko came in, perfection and divinity happened.
You guys have to react to her solo stuff. Hi Guys You should watch a band called Steve n the Seagulls they sing Sleeping Sun and Until my last breath with Tarja. I was more impressed with Marco. If you read this there's a video of Marko singing the duet All you ask of me from the Phantom. Have you heard Nicole Scherzinger sing a Phantom of the Opera Song. Nicole was the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls. Tommy does the Far Away song also
🇬🇧 Norfolk popping in with you guys for Tarja last concert the guys do look sad 😞 knowing what was to come. Tuomas with his jack sparrow doll on the keyboard All the best with your health wolfy
It is the Led Zeppelin and later Gray Moore's song from the album "Wild Frontier" from 86 or 87 taken from ny memory. I thougth the warm voice would be a perfect match for Tarjas head voice in that it seems the same varm tone. But unfortunatly for me I guess Tuomas wanted to use Tarjas voice in a less headvoice way and also had to change the guitar to a much colder tone than the original that made this song and Gary Moores guitars so specia. I love heavymetal and cold tones but not for this song. This it's just speculations from my side and I have to admit that I was a bit dissapointed by the Nightwish version, cause I loved the idea of Tarja singin it in her normal tone. Othe persons like it so maybe you also like the Nightwish version. I also guess that it is "Gary Moore" and the "Wild Frontier" album that have inspired Tuomas to keltic tones in some songs. I really like your reactions cause you are listening to the music and also letting me enjoy the music and then hearing your opinions and you also seems to be really nice persons.
Please do Nightwish - Sleeping Sun (Official video With Tarja singing) 🙏 I know i'm not alone, give this comment a like if you also Love this song and especially with Tarja singing 🙏👍
Welcome to the first era of Nightwish! 😄 This whole concert is amazing. Here is the link: th-cam.com/play/PLexzLA11Cst2704XTYLt7QPK0LLexdG4P.html Nightwish has a very large catalogue. The group's first work was recorded by its founders: Tuomas (keyboardist), Emppu (guitar player) and Tarja (the woman vocalist). It's an acoustic demo from 1996. Usually people suggest the live performances, which are really wonderful, but if you stick to them, you'll never know many wonderful songs. I will list the band's studio discography, specifying the corresponding vocalists (after Tarja came Anette and then Floor, the current one): 1 - Original demo (1996) - Tarja 2 - Angels fall first (1997) - Tarja - this would be the band's second demo, but it became their first album. 3 - Oceanborn (1998) - Tarja 4 - Wishmaster (2000) - Tarja 5 - Over the Hills and far away (2001) - Tarja - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings 6 - Century Child (2002) - Tarja 7 - Once (2004) - Tarja 8 - Dark Passion Play (2007) - Anette 9 - Made in Hong Kong (2009) - Anette - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings 10 - Imaginaerum (2011) - Anette 11 - Endless forms most beautiful (2015) - Floor 12 - Human. :II: Nature. (2020) - Floor I would like to suggest the song "Underneath". It's from Tarja's solo career. It's really a beautiful song. It's a ballad. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/UcjL9W9sPYc/w-d-xo.html Thank you!
Tarja is a great operatic focussed singer, Marco kills it. Tarjas vibrato is not my preference for more than 2 songs. Nevertheless she has a lot of fans, which i can understand.
Tarja will always be my favorite , I like Floor too, also Anette (Amaranth is one of my favorite nightwish songs) , but I got to know Nightwish with tarja at the end of the 90s. That´s the sound of nightwish I like most and that´s why my favorite nightwish songs will always be the old songs with tarja.
@@luanaxoxo2905 i always prefer Floor, not just because of vocals. That’s personal taste. I got a „shower“ whenever i listen to Floor what nobody else can deliver to me. Good to have the different styles. Everybody gets what he/she prefers.

Her voice was super velvety, dark and smooth back then... Walking in the Air and Deep Silent Complete and Fantasmic 3 are really good. Also Wishmaster and Nemo. Thank you for checking her out!
This is so epic... every time.
The original Over the hills and far away recording and music video is with Tarja, but they also have a tour video with Floor.
No one like Tarja! 💛 Her and Nightwish put some really iconic and magical music into this world! Deep Silent Complete (From Wishes to Eternity concert) is very beautiful :)
I love this version thanks
Yep, this is Tarja. lol She is the most operatic of the 3.
From the 2005 Helsinki concert, same show as the High Hopes video you watched. DVD was entitled End of An Era because this is her last Nightwish show. It was on the Century Child album (2002)
Andrew Lloyd Weber loved it too.
3 magnificent lead singers, great reaction as always 😉🤟
Have a blast at Tarja and Floor dueting "Over the Hills...", a proper fanboy fantasy!
😁🇫🇮❤️🎶🤘👍
Yeah Floor, Tarja and Marko really are unicorns. 😉😜(But that may not be what you meant)
@@vogel2280 😄😉🤟
@@Aurinkohirvi best critic- I totally agree- tarja was the pioneer
Look back in the early 90th even befor Nightwish exists,
you will find out that symphonic metal already existed! Also with female singers.
Thanks for the info.
You really need to hear Tarja's cover of Supremacy (hellfest) and Crimson Deep(beauty and the beats) and Victim of Ritual(Woodstock)
Oh and her duet of Paradise with Within Temptation.
Was working at this gig. Emotional rollercoaster 🔥😢🤘❤️🇫🇮
Learnig every Day. Great reaction Mr. Fluffy Hair
Nightwish's 3 singers:
1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005
2. Annette: 2006 to 2012
3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+
everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does back when with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish
(many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here)
----------
if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones:
(just make sure the song performances are before 2006, else it's not tarja who is singing)
(NOT ranked, just listed)
1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down)
2. Phantom of the Opera (her duet with Marco, really good, both of them together, this song was actually used in the Phantom of the Opera remake movie in 2004)
3. Wishmaster
4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well)
5. End of All Hope
6. Dead Boy's Poem
7. Nemo (watch the official music video and also her live performance of it)
8. Kinslayer
9. she is my sin
10. wish I had an angel
11. slaying the dreamer
12. the siren
13. dead to the world
14. 10th man down
15. walking in the air
16. ghost love score
17. dark chest of wonders
and many more too

this is about the 'phantom of the opera' with tarja nightwish, but it applies to tarja for all other NW songs too:
Tarja has her own stage performance/presence, but the focus is on the entire band (much more respectful), unlike with floor, where the focus is almost entirely on her, and also, Phantom of the Opera isn't about that much showmanship, so you're not seeing more of Tarja's performance/presence (love how the camera work and Tarja worked together, with her ducking down, seeing Marcus as he delivered his singing, and then Tarja stands back up, seeing her face back in the camera as Marco's part ends and hers begins again, Tarja is really such a team player, as she could have had all the focus upon herself, like Floor gets, but instead she chooses to give the entire band the respect and focus that they too deserve, it's not all about Tarja, like it is with Floor, despite how good Tarja is and thus how she could be the entire focus with nightwish, as is Floor with nightwish)
there's other songs, where Tarja was way way way more stage performance/presence/showmanship, including hair windmills, rocking an invisible guitar along with empuu rocking his guitar, along with her doing her squatting too as she sings and taps her foot/leg to it, as she's swinging those hips too, along with her getting the crowd involved as well too, and etc stuff, you got to watch way more songs, to really see her amazing stage presence/performance and showmanship, as Phantom of the Opera is likely the one song with the least of that stuff, due to the nature of the song itself, being about their singing (contrasting and then cacophonous harmonous duet, nothing can compete with Tarja and Marco voices duet'ing), though Marco and Tarja had a bit of showmanship and fun snuck into it, with Marco pointing to his face and Tarja's facial expression reactions, while both song their parts
Over the Hills an Far Away is a Gary Moore song and Nightwish cover is amazing, there is also a live version with Tarja and Floor at Tarja's solo show, they are good friends.
Some say that the Nightwish version was so good that Gary Moore did a cover of the song in 1986.
@@joshuaburba1048 I'd recommend checking some Nightwish covers by Beatrice Florea - that's one seriously promising next generation singer.
@@MikkoRantalainen I have. She's one of the singers on their cover of Over the Hills and Far Away that I just said people should check out.
Those audience girls were with Goth fashion, and Tarja was the role model and idol especially for them.
Although Tarja in general was and probably still is the top celebrity in Finnish music scene, at least in metal. She was on top pf her popularity back then.
Tarja!!! No one like her. She made Nightwish. But, The present Nightwish is awesome also. Tarja!!!!!
Another vote for The Siren, one of my fave songs to hear Tarja singing, such an amazing song 😍 (plus..more Marko!)
Good one guys. I gotta admit I’m a Floor tragic, but if you claim to love Nightwish you must appreciate the musicality of all iterations of the band.
It's a pretty cool version of The Phantom of the Opera; and I like that Marco is allowed to show that he is also a talented singer 🙂
This is from the 2005 Show in Helsinki, Tarjas final Show with the Band, She was Fired straight after.
I definitely recommend the live version of Over the Hills and Faraway (a cover) from this same concert.
The High Hopes cover is also worth checking out.
Marko steels the show for me in this performance..his singing is crazy 🥰
Marko is so good at stealing the shows that I occasionally watch The Poet And The Pendulum (Wembley 2016) to hear how Marko wipes the floor in the last part with just his backing vocals.

Love you guys !! Great reaction !!
if you're interested in hearing more of Tarja in her time at Nightwish, you could try "The Siren", "Slaying the Dreamer" and "Ever Dream" from this same concert: I would personally suggest you dive in the Wishes to Eternity concert and react to "Beauty of the Beast" and "Beauty and the Beast" (yes, they're different songs) from NW's earlier albums.
The siren from that same show is fantastic.
@@outlaw71 it's probably my favourite version of the song until now. I love that you get to hear her chest voice utilised so well, in a style the band hadn't much ventured into before.
@@setsukasakurazuka414 ...and there is also this great keyboard solo by Tuomas (very rare) I think The Wolfman would find that really interesting 😃
@@outlaw71 so true! Tuomas was having a definite blast on the keyboard solo xDD. And Marko, flawless as usual.
This is 2005 at Tarja's final concert. She was fired immediately after this show. (That is why they named the DVD "End on an Era")
"Walking in the Air" , Nemo, "Dead Boys Poem" and "Ever Dream" by Tarja are very good.
A cover of Gary Moore version of that song from the 80's (Not the Led Zeppelin one) Hahahahahaha
If you want a really early performance I suggest "Walking in th air" from Wishes to eternity DVD (its here on TH-cam also) That's even befor Marko joined. The bassplayer at that time was Sami Väänskä
i love history!
Glad it is history!❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Over the Hills performed by Nightwish is a cover of a Gary Moore (RIP) song, one of the guitar greats.

Tarja is on the first five albums, annette is on albums 6-7, floor is on 8-9. The original drummer is on the first seven albums (the best) Floor inherited an all time catalogue.
Those girls were crying when the concert was over also.
Is a good show, the dvd has interesting documentary with it.
Check Sacrament of wildenes, Siren, wissmaster with Nightwish (officiel video)+live with Tarja🤘😊
This is the first time you're seeing Tarja?!? Wow.
Well, this is a good one for the first time. Welcome!

The rest of the band had already decided to part ways with Tarja before this concert, but she didn't know. She got the letter after this concert.
2005 her last show , fired right after this show
Tarja singing Everdream at this same End of an Era Show is amazing.

@@booradley8895 was not my number 1 choice to let someone go either

Tarja x Marko

Both are amazing versions
RickRack-going on the list
I support Within Temptation but I think you should start with their older stuff. Angels, music video or live at Black Symphony
They could also react to Paradise with Tarja. Kill two birds with one stone.
@@charliethetraveller Ice Queen is already on the 'to do' list. Gave them the link to Black Symphony version.
For me Human Nature is there best album they have released. So much depth and complexity both musically and lyrically.

Floor es good singer, but I prefer the old nightwish. 😎🤘🏻
Great reaction!!
Now react to the song planet hell from the same show.
Who is that shredding the axe so beautiful in the final?! Yeah, that's right!!

Nightwish has a very large catalogue. I will list the band's studio discography, specifying the corresponding vocalists (after Tarja came Anette and then Floor, the current one):
1 - Original demo (1996) - Tarja
2 - Angels fall first (1997) - Tarja - this would be the band's second demo, but it became their first album.
3 - Oceanborn (1998) - Tarja
4 - Wishmaster (2000) - Tarja
5 - Over the Hills and far away (2001) - Tarja - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings

I would like to suggest the song "Underneath". It's from Tarja's solo career. It's really a beautiful song. It's a ballad. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/UcjL9W9sPYc/w-d-xo.html Thank you!
I see it, in the comments, many Tarja and Marko fans are here in the comments. Floor and Henk?
Tarja is a great operatic focussed singer, Marco kills it. Tarjas vibrato is not my preference for more than 2 songs. Nevertheless she has a lot of fans, which i can understand.
tarjas nemo and sleeping sun? shes not as allround singer as floor but she shines in a few songs that suits here.
Everybody gets what he/she prefers.
they haven't done a Zepplin song but they have done Pink Floyd-High Hopes
To see and hear a fun side of Tuomas with Tarja please react to their song "Fantasmic" live from the From Wishes to Eternity" dvd. For another awesome Marko/Tarja song try "Planet Hell" from the End of an Era dvd, For a beautiful Tarja song try "Deep Silent Complete" again from the From Wishes to Eternity dvd
