Got this for Christmas 1983. It was a 1984 release but came out Christmas 1983. I was 9 years old and my excitement is something I can still feel today.
I remember exactly the day I got this as a birthday gift back in the 80s. Putting all the pieces together is something I will never forget, especially the smell of brand new rubber and plastic, so cool.
My childhood ship !!!! Remember when i was 10-11 i wished Santa to give it to me but mom said it was too big to cary it so i gathered all the money i could get from the christmas carols and bought it myself from the local bookshop ! Stll remember the joy i had , missed these days .
Just cleaned my old storeroom from my childhood, and this ship was in there + a ton of other old toys from this age, it was so fun to see it all again, it really sparked alot of good memories.
Nice I believe this is the 1978 edition. That ship was my dream toy when inwas a kid. Never got it. Insted i get the fisher ship Suzanne kotter back in 1983. I was sad back then but have plenty joy with the suzanne. Have it stil complete. Without the original box. Also plenty other ships from Playmobil.
this ship, its structure is identical to set 70411... basically to save time, they used the same base.. only the sails (white to red ), the minifigures (more modern) and some accessories change.
It's not always so much time as it is money. It costs way more to make a new ship than it does to redecorate an old one, hence why the first 3 large pirate ships all use the same base

I know what you mean about the smell. I also remember the day I put mine in the pool and the sails shrank! :D

I dream with that sometimes. I wake up a bit sad that I did not find a bunch of playmobils to sort and complete :D

The Suzanne is another highly desired ship these days. I am glad you now enjoy it!
My neighbor was so lucky to had it
My favorite toy during the 80s
All I had left from mine was the ship, no masts or anything, just the characters at the end.
I remeber seeing this in the sao paolo airport toy store and being obsessed
I remember seeing it in toy stores and doing the same thing.

The three towers is the coat of arms of Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg so now it is something real.
