The feeling of helplessness knowing that wall is coming, haunts me every day. I was passenger in a bad one ( convertible mini Cooper) just turned 18, almost ruined my life. The pain reminds me, daily that I am alive. But feeling of joy walking out of that accident knowing I survived was a different feeling.. my boy was knocked out, but Alive and injury free. After watching the video six times I think I got it. At the top end when letting off the rear got loose, BIG TIME. Whether it was ice, wheel spin or wind. That thing wanted to dance and there was no stopping it. The rear end was sliding before you even started fighting the steering wheel. That was fucking gnarly. Glad to see you’re alrighty brother. As someone who doesn’t hit high speeds like you do, honest question: is it normal to shift with your right hand using the stick, instead of the paddles? I would think you’d want both hands on the wheel but maybe I’m tripping.
If you’re gonna be going that fast track or no track keep both hands on the steering wheel! Especially if ur in an automatic there’s no need to have one me hand on the wheel and the other shifting in an automatic. You miss vital steering inputs at that speed if you don’t have both hands on the wheel.
Always walk the track at a track rental because they are less on top of their game at a track rental because there are less employees on duty. A lot of crashes happen at track rentals because of this
The track at the end wasn't dry... you can hear the rpms jump from the wheel spin as he was still giving it gas... sucks that the prep at the end wasn't looked into but glad you made it alive specially at 170

So what happened is you stayed on the gas after the traps where the track is not prepped there for the rear tyres broke traction putting you sideways and loosing control. You can cleary hear the engine rev up after the traps which indicates you where on the gas and it broke traction. Dangerous track as they had not prepped surface past the finish line.
You aren't going to spin the tyres at that speed even after getting onto the part of the track that isn't prepped, something broke or got under the tyre to cause it to lose grip.

Sounded like a line was rubbing, you can hear it rubbing on the driveshaft or something and as soon as it stops making noise is when he goes sideways. I’m assuming that’s when a line popped/cut in half and sprayed down the rear wheels causing them to spin and go sideways. You can even hear the car spin heavy(rpms going to redline) right before it goes sideways. If that was me I would’ve let off hearing my driveshaft rub on something. Unless he already knew what was causing that rubbing/sound.
It’s his tires rubbing on his fenders. If you look at his fitment you can only imagine when accelerating that hard. My car had insane beefy wheel setup so my tires rubbed and it sounds just like that.

At least he was able to walk away, not in a body bag. That's why you do this on track. On the street, he would've probably not made it out of this accident going this fast, hit a tree or flip or another vehicle.

I doubt there's large bumps in a drag strip. I think it's easy to say driver error but it's also just extremely likely a tire went flat.

Sounded like a line was rubbing, you can hear it rubbing on the driveshaft or something and as soon as it stops making noise is when he goes sideways. I’m assuming that’s when a line popped/cut in half and sprayed down the rear wheels causing them to spin and go sideways. You can even hear the car spin heavy(rpms going to redline) right before it goes sideways. If that was me I would’ve let off hearing my driveshaft rub on something. Unless he already knew what was causing that rubbing/sound.
It’s his tires rubbing on his fenders. If you look at his fitment you can only imagine when accelerating that hard. My car had insane beefy wheel setup so my tires rubbed and it sounds just like that.

Luckily most the energy dissipated when it rolled straight down the track after glancing into wall and he didn't start flipping, otherwise he wouldn't be here. Racing at those speeds without proper saftey (roll cage etc) is just a numbers game as to when you die.

At least he was able to walk away, not in a body bag. That's why you do this on track. On the street, he would've probably not made it out of this accident going this fast, hit a tree or flip or another vehicle.

Mfing air bags are lethal man. Blockin every window so you cant see while the cars still going 100mph+. And preventing all doors from being opened once you stop to escape.

I'd know, went through the windshield at about the same speed with a faulty 5-point SPARCO harness after flipping end over end about 9 times. Died instantly or DOA until life support and brain surgery .... I'm surprised the glass is all intact... Cold wet track will do that, got to let the sun eat that moisture up ...
