Another tip: You can claim Revival Coppers each day if you get your copper amount low enough. This is particularly useful at master rank (who can always get below 18k coppers by buying green gifts for 15k), but also works pretty well on expert.

Yea it really sucks how oppressive this game is towards f2p players. Mahjong Hime is a lot better but it barely has any players anymore.
