I know zero about metal fabrication and car stuff, and this was super entertaining to watch - I ended up googling how the different welding and plasma cutting tools work along the way. gotta love the internet lol
Nice job on the tank ! The funny thing here, automotive engineers and designers spend months if not years on computer screens designing racing suspensions layouts. Our man Davin here looks at it and says " Aaaah, I think I'll move the shocks a bit here or there, at this approx angle so it don't hit this or that. We'll see if it works." No frills, hands on engineering. Gotta love that ! 👍 🤣🤣🤣
Ah man, I haven't seen the sheer and brake in a long time. I hated trying to work with those tools with someone else when I started out. Every time without fail, they always screwed me up then turned around to tell management it was my fault. I finally got to where I was having to chase people off with a belt sander just to have the run of the field by myself and I got a lot more work done that way and it was very accurate. I was the new guy. Since I'm getting back into sheet metal work I might as well see what I can do to find my own. For the meantime, you just had to remind me that I need to clean my shop at the end of the video.
I actually thought the tank was angled like that so that the gas would pool up under the pick-up more. Please note I have no idea how the bladder is made so it could have a thing for that.
Many, many moons ago, I worked on a 55 Chevy dirt tracker in South Carolina. When we were rebuilding it for the next season, we cut the roll bar on the left side of the car and twisted the frame and inch or so counterclockwise looking to the front and re-welded it with a collar we had made up. So, actually, the car was turning left as it was sitting still. Our driver/owner said it handled like it was on rails. Just a thought.
Haaa only the best tools for the job. 5:31 you even have the gloves marked ''L'' so you know in what hands they belong LOL Jokes aside, I've been following you for a while and best show on Hagerty. Yeah I know, going back in my garage and do something...
"NO FACE DIAPERS!!" Good job folks. Tom Cotter could take a lesson from you guys. I'm an old tin bender. Pretty simple project you got there. I like it!
Davin, I couldn't find last week's video again but, I also watch Uncle Tony's Garage and he is a Mopar guru. Suggested to him to get in touch with you about the heads differences, he actually read and responded, he watches Your Channel and would love to confab with you. I think it would be great if you both were in a video for the dirt track racer.(But What do I know? )
It's amazing, I hear/read 'fuel cell' now and I think hydrogen fuel cell. Gonna have to return to calling them tanks soon if they ever manage to get hydrogen cars into mass production.
Having the tank angled like that it would still fuel the system when the car does wheelies and droops. These are purpose built cars. That means everything is there for a reason. With that in mind, should the rear axle be in an angle, to help it turn left?
If the car is going to used in road racing there should be dual fuel pick ups since there are left and right turns. Also hop the age of the bladder was checked to comply with regulations and safety.
Building my old HOWE dirt car into a street legal car . im doing a franklin quickchange that use a chrysler mono leaf spring with sliders and coil overs on mine even using brake floaters tring to keep period correct
I enjoyed your video, i am actually tired of worrying about stock and stuff.... It's driving me nuts these days I think crypto investment is far better than stocks
Wow, did anybody else think Davin looked kind of ragged/sickly in the first shop? Even the head fur looked sort of mountain man-ish. Wonder if he's ok?
Looks great! Now I'm concerned that there won't be enough room to pull the quick change cover to change the gears. Unless the axle drops enough when you jack it up?

Great job again ,I worked in a mach shop, luv working on break,an sheers, allways fun thinking about what u can make.
It's great to see Davin's skill set and knowledge.
Watching these videos definitely gets me motivated to get out in my shop and work on my Duster.
I really like the fabrication aspect of this Redline Rebuild. Thanks
You have great fabrication skills Davin👍
Thanks for sharing, Stay Safe👍

To those that are observant, it's obvious that you don't do too much welding. Your gloves were brand new. You did do a nice job on the fuel tank box.
Duh it's a TV show
Can people not distinguish staged from natural reality?
The correct tools and knowledge equals success. 😎👍🇨🇦

I had the same thought.
When yall get this finished, you need to race vice grip garage in Dereks 777!

Great video. Thanks
T shirt weather in upper Mich. WOW!
Off to work on a lawn mower
Proposed drinking game: drink every time Davin says “....relative to....”
That's all I hear sometimes!🤣
He looks like he might have played that the night before, dude looks spent in this video. Hope he's ok.

Nice pizza cutter you made! 9:25
Nice work cutting the large hole in the top. I think you've done that before.
If I had that hole punch I wouldn’t get anything done.
😆

It is snowing and cold. No it is not beautiful outside where I live. But that is okay, it keeps the soft people away.

Whats 2 stop ya gas from sloshing 2 the side? So u can knock out a gas tank but not a battery box??? 😏

40 MPH winds and dust storms in Casa Grande AZ. can't get anything done right now. 😢
F'ing genius
I thought "fuel cell" was a battery 😂, well i know something today
Davin, you could de as one piece as well :)
Plus the top of course...
Yeah but I am waiting on parts, for the bike build. And god is it taking forever, for all the parts to come in. Especially the connectors.
could the tilt of the original tank be because of anti - starvation in the pickup?
Man your eyes are beautiful.
🎩
😁
👕👍Great!
👖
Snowball in spring?
Where are with the 440 and the finished product?
I would have used rivets to secure the pieces together
Why ?? 🤔
@@marcryvon So they could rub holes in the fuel cell lol. Don't you know anything?
are we going to see the chevy truck again
Just curious why a steel box is needed to mount the fuel cell?
i agree. Aren't race cars about being light. Most production cars use a pair of straps and you can see the imprints on the cell case for them.
Is there a specific reason that the lid could not have been under the filler flange?
Bad idea James.
The box is there only to protect the plastic tank in a crash. It must not be part of the sealed tank itself.
👍👍👌👍👌😶

Crypto is the future 💯
I wanted to trade crypto but got confused by the fluctuations in price
Any update on snowballs car
Whatever happened to this car? Is it still in the works?
