- How many times have you heard a car reviewer say of a Porsche 911 'this would make the perfect car to go away for the weekend' ? Well in the video I put the theory into practice.
This week is Mrs Petrol Peds birthday and we went away for a short break in the Cotswolds, with the pups, and thanks to Porsche GB we had the latest 911 992 Carrera 4S Cabriolet as our transport. Question is, we would all git in it ?!
We travelled to the beautiful Farncombe Estate to stay at the stunning Foxhill Manor. By far our favourite hotel.

If I was Porsche GB I’d be very happy with this review as it shows how many of the people who will buy this car will use it instead of the usual how fast does it go.

Hi Pete, I think a way to boost your subscibers would be to have Mrs Petrol Ped do some reviews with you. I know she doesn't like being on camera but I think it would widen the appeal of your channel as she loves driving and had her own great view on the Porsche yesterday. Also ypu can tell that you are soul mates aswell as being husband and wife as the chemistry between you is great and makes me laugh. Anyway just a thought, have a great weekend 😁😁

It’s reminding me that at this time last year I was enjoying a couple of hours on the Porsche track at Silverstone in 911 Carrera 4S. I agree with Mrs P that it really sticks to the road while giving the confidence to push a little harder. Hope you both enjoyed a much needed change after a couple of difficult months.

To date, I have seen at least a dozen videos on the 992 from around the world. I find that the reviews made in England were among the most serious, competent and engaging but this video in particular really thrilled me. This is what we, my wife and I do (without dogs !!!), weekends around Italy and Europe on our 958. Sure, a lot of space being an SUV, but if I still had some doubt about versatility, possibility of daily use and trips with luggage with this fabulous 992 this video has really convinced me. I don't think I really need a car as massive and spacious as the 958 (my wife also has a small car that drives around town) so I think my next Porsche will definitely be one of these jewels. Glad you enjoyed a little bit of my area of the country. I live about 30 miles from where you stayed & have relatives who live in Moreton -In-Marsh, not too far away from there either. Like you said, great driving roads there too.

Happy birthday Mrs P!! Yes, although I currently drive a Lamborghini Astra Estate, the 911 range is what usually floats my boat! And this one is really lovely. PLUS you have a pretty girl and two cute pups riding with you!!!!! Then the chef comes to you to ask what you'd like, while you and said pretty girl are lounging in a swing chair made for two! Not to mention the subtitles naming her Mrs petrol bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hehehe! Truly a weekend made in heaven! Enjoy! 😁❤️

Nice one. Lovely car. Years ago we were parked up at Nuits St Georges services on the A31 in France and this elderly couple parked next to us in a well used 993 Carrera, after they go out, the bloke tipped the passenger seat and out of the back got this red setter, happy as Larry. Ever since then I've tried to sell the Mrs that getting a 911 would be a sensible, family choice but sadly had no luck... I'm hoping to have more luck with a Taycan.

This is the type of review we need to see more often. Let's face it most reviews are made about how fast you can go and hold fast it can go around the corner etc but those reviews are just eaten up by people that are just dreaming about the car. What we really need to see is more practical reviews plus performance included for those who are actually going to buy this car and who are considering all aspects of Life while driving a Porsche. Great job

I use to watch on my own but now my wife mandates she watch it with me. We adore the Petrol pooches, such characters. (Incidentally what breed are they?) Just watched the Q&A with Mrs PP too, priceless. We're expats in CA USA, no kids, love our dogs and a garage of nice toys, for which we are truly grateful, so we kinda relate to you both. (Hope you dont mind me saying so)

Aw memories right there. I studied in Cheltenham - whenever my dad came up to visit, we’d try and find a nice country pub to go to with a few cracking driving roads for his 87 911 to stretch its legs! He’d love blitzing it back home the country way. We did broadway once, stunning place! Yup, they do love to lift their skirts and show a little more than a bit of ankle! Nice to see Mrs Ped - think some hints there to look at a deal on a 911 there!
911 very practical - was amazed how much we got in ours for a weekend trip to Le Mans. Shame we sold it - my dads ears still prick up when he hears the air cooled singer sewing machine engine note!

I was appalled at seeing the top go down so nicely but the windows automatically go back up! In my youth I became a purist that never motored my convertibles in that configuration, though when alone a tonneau over the passenger side to keep me warm on a cool autumn day was appreciated. All that said, windows up for your situation seems acceptable and a good compromise, probably one I will have to make it I am ever to be allowed to have another open car again. Lovely car otherwise, and hope you folks have had a grand time on a well deserved getaway. Happy Birthday Mrs. Ped.
Funny, I have owned a soft top for over 15 years and never driven one with roof down and windows down. Always have the windows up. You get put the Porsche’s windows down 👍
Love the Cotswolds! Been to Broadway once and as was said, it’s proper chocolate box. Great review by Mrs PP, she knows a good car when she drives one. That hotel is beautiful. Hope she had a great birthday weekend.

Fox Hill Manor where my grandfather worked as a chief stockman many, many years ago. He was also employed at Guiting Grange & lived in a Tythe Cottage where my dad & his five brothers were raised. Such a wonderful part of the Cotswolds & great place to stretch the Porsche’s legs & stop off for a beverage at one of the local pubs.

I live in Broadway and it was super cool to see all the familiar routes I've took the Boxster down. Even the bumpy little track into Snowhill..! Kudos as it's the first 911 Cab that doesn't look like a fat arsed hunchback... Nice car, nice vid...

Loved this video. Perfect blend of Porsche , personal, pup and pooch with the added bonus of Mrs P including the peasant comment which made us laugh. The Porsche is gorgeous and I think you need to pop one under the Xmas tree this year for Mrs P 😊 . Even a lotto win wouldn’t move me from Mini (I would just have more than one) but I do love to see all these beautiful cars.

Great video! Loved seeing how you put this through its paces, including loading it up with bags and dogs! Question: saw your Carrera 2S video as well. Which would you prefer as a daily driver? In the market, live in California, and deciding between this and the 2S (both Cabriolets). Thanks
Tough question. 4S has more traction and would be better all year round but 2S is lighter and feels more delicate 👌
@@PetrolPed thank you! Think I'll go with 2S. We really don't have "weather" in northern california, and I get the impression that the 2S feels more nimble as well (makes sense if it's lighter)

Hi, did you have the sports exhaust on at any time during the filmed bits? As it sounds very muted ... was wondering especially with the roof down ... I used to own a 991.1 C4S and I think it would have been a lot louder

A great video Pete, your wife (and pups!) are good sports! ;) Can't beat the Cotswolds, my wife and I have also literally just come back from The Fish hotel earlier last week, also for my wife's birthday! We stayed in the Farmhouse :) Alas, we did not use my RS to travel there, we had too much 'stuff' so ended up in her Nissan X-trail. Not quite as much fun as the RS, but comfy nonetheless...

Great Vid, as always Pete. Great venue! While I await my Taycan, I have but myself a 911 targa 4, and as you say it is a great daily. That is what I am using for. The targa, has more space. Mine is a 991.1 and getting up to 37mpg on a run and down to 24 when having fun. Average is 31mpg. Sound awesome, looks awesome. You should definitely get one!

I only get 23 mpg (uk gallon) with the sport mode off and 20 with sport mode driving only on country roads where I do push it hard. 991.1S cab. I suppose steady highway it could do 30 but never tried it.
That’s made me really appreciate having one of those as it’s all to easy to regard it as “normal”, it’s a 991 but still a fab car.
Top tip Peter, you don’t have to buy a new one at ££££££, and Mrs PP looks so good in one.

I felt relaxed as you both looked, and a bit jealous too!!! You are so fortunate as not only a lovely brand new Porsche to drive about in, but also a lovely part of the world to stay in. The pups are relaxed too as they are familiar with their surroundings. So now we come to the practicality of the 911, you are of course joking, don`t get me wrong lovely car but you would need to be a stick insect legswise to be in the back seats, similar to a review I saw years ago of the Audi TT with its baby seats in the back too. Never-the-less its a sports car and they pretty much are not for going away with lots of luggage, if you can afford it, you buy what you need, and then discard it after you have used it, is that not correct Pete? The Taycan however that`s a very different story Roger Bailey already did a review and it seems quite nice!!!!!!!!!
