Hi Todd Thanks for the extra plug. I now have six on their way by the end of the year to have a look see. As to the flooding it has been bad in places but not so much in others. I think you and Neenee have definitely put Lao on the map as a good place to retire, so I think you will get a deal on her house soon.

One fiddy a month is peanuts! We are currently paying $550 (AUD) a week in Brisbane. The footage of that truck being swept along by the floodwaters was extreme.

Todd, looking forward to your trip in December! Better to postpone so you and Neenee stay safe! Here in the U.S. Hurricane Ian is hitting the southeastern coast right now. I am in a rural area in the West where there is drought. Water and irrigation for 40 million people is fed by the Colorado River. 2 of the lakes fed by this river are now at 31% and 25%. Dinosaur footprints, sunken boats and a few unfortunate victims of the mafia have surfaced. My husband and I spent 8 days evacuated because of wildfires. The times they are a-changin -Dylan

The lao People have been through a lot. However, they are resilient people. Todd, I would buy a lot from Chris if it were me. In the case of Neenee, I will check around with our circle of friends

Howdy Todd,, screaming deal on the house,,especially the lease option. This has been an insane year,,,world wide,,as far as rains,,and floods,,from Lao to Alaska,,Pakistan,,India,,Arizona,,even Montana. Just a crazy year! Had my 1 month surgery check up yesterday. They said things are going great,,healing well, good breathing,,which is something I really worked on ,,,.calm even heartbeat like I've never had in my life.. Still hoping to go camping this fall,, bit worried about breathing wood smoke with my kinda tender lungs.. I was on the heart lung machine for 6 hours or so,,while things are good,,relatively speaking,,I dont want to push too much. Hope something of your travel plans work out. We built a home on my girlfriend's mother's farm just north of Pakse back in 2010. Her mom takes care of the house and her brothers and sisters farm the land.
Great view across the river and now that I retired we plan on making the trip over the big pond.
I haven't heard of major flooding south. Sorry for folks that have suffered from this.
My question is what are the employment prospects for a retired operating engineer that has a Chief operating engineer license. Not that it would be valid there but I have operated six powerplants in the last 24 years. Coal and natural gas.
