My PC that's a few years old with 16GB of RAM and other moderate specs won't run it after running the MS PC Health check thing. If I have to spring for a new machine, I'll be going to back to Mac after a decade or so of Windows. I've never had a desktop computer with a webcam either, that just clinches that deal.

They should start calling their OS "Walls". "Windows" was an OS that allowed you interactive access to multiple things and was more or less transparent with what it did to your machine.
"Walls" hides things from you, holds a bunch of cosmetic garbage and extraneous stuff you couldn't care less about, and you have to find a way around it or break through it to get to some of the stuff you want.

Microsoft is one of the biggest corporate donors to the state. As such, the government loves them snooping and spying on citizens. And under the current fascistic/cronyist system, the state will actively bypass all sorts of constitutional government limitations (which they can't impose directly) by using "private" business MicroSoft as a middleman to do it by proxy. This is why we need the complete separation of corporate interests and the state. Most people shout "fascism" without realizing that collusion between corporations and the government is the very definition of economic fascism. The Biden admin is one of the worst offenders of this type of behaviour.

    • @donny484

The purpose of the TPM is to ensure the integrity of the system boot sequence has not been tampered with. Each time you boot your computer a hash gets generated and the TPM compares that hash to known “good” hashes. If the TPM notices that the hash is bad, it means a part of the boot sequence has been compromised.

Almost every single Linux distro is open source (along with many programs that run on it), which means you can freely look at, change, and distribute the source code of the operating system. With Windows, that is not possible. This allows Linux users to fully customize every aspect of the operating system, from the width of the scroll bars, to the underlying architecture of the OS. Just switching to older versions of w10 or even w8.1 and debloating them perform so much better than the current version of w10, and w11 is only going to get worse with this.
