Mid 2024 New GPU Tier List - AMD, Nvidia, & Intel
If your looking for the best GPU to buy in 2024 it can be very difficult. There is an abundance of testing and vs videos, but comparing every single current gen GPU is a task many would not want to take on. Well I did. I spent countless hours comparing GPUs at current prices in mid 2024 to find out what GPUs are the best, and which ones you may want to avoid.

Both the 4080 super and 7900xtx need to swap places with the 4090.
A person can build a heck of a good gaming rig with either the 4080S or xtx for the price of the 4090.
☝this.
Exactly, 4090 is probably the worst GPU ever for its price.
You know some people need performance for actual productivity and aren't worried about building 4 dUh mUnEe

You really think much is going to change by then? Prices will still be high, if not even worse since amd is doing anything high end next gen so nvidia will just price stuff at whatever they want. So I think things are only going to get worse.

You just made the classic mistake of forgetting to add the Gtx 1080 Ti into S tier.
Don't worry that happens sometimes.
Right?
I dont really see how that card is relevant, I have 1080 still and it served me well but don't buy a 4 generations old card that can't even do dlss. If you're that broke then you should probably buy an alchemist card

7900xtx isn't gonna run new games at 4k with all the bells and whistles, even a year from now. I'm gonna upgrade from a 2060 super to a 5090 when it releases... 3 generations is a pretty solid jump and about 5 years.
5:04 people keep forgetting that you don't just get dlss, you also get dlaa which is superior to TAA and helps visual quality substantially at 1080p. Some games have TAA implementations that are bad enough that dlss quality is able to provide a similar image or even better compared to the TAA. Source: hardware undboxed.
Curious, in your opinion, would you say that DLAA is worth the resources when gaming at 4k? Or is the sweet spot at 1080p or even 1440p?
Bro beside the top down gpus the current generation ones aim into atleast 1440p😂
No one buys today a gpu for 500 bucks to play 1080p for the sake of dlaa😅😂
@@dozilla77 at 4k dlss quality or balanced is fine and dlaa doesn't provide much benefit. It's more at 1440p and especially 1080p where dlaa is useful for improving image quality over TAA.

What does RTX 4090 offer over RX 7900 XTX?
20 % more performance on average for nearly DOUBLE the price.
Why is RX 7900 XTX placed at a lower tier than RTX 4090?
After all, RX 7900 XTX is the second most powerful card.

4060 gets too much hate. It's not being sold for £300 anymore. In my country it's £20 - £30 more than the 7600 which i think is worth paying for dlss
Dlss on 4060...is.... cringe😂
£20-£40 for 2 more pixels is perfect
Think the 7900xtx should be in the S tier.
I actually disagree. I mean at that price, the 4080 super or even the 4090 becomes viable
Not really, it's not that much cheaper than a 4080S in most cases, plus the extra features and advantages of the 4080S generally make up for the extra price.
if the 4090's not in s tier then that shouldnt be.
4080 super and 4090 are S tier, the xtx is A tier (it really is a good value, but def not S tier). Think the video creator just did that to generate comments pointing out his obvious error.
@@squirrelsinjacket1804 the 4090 is not s tier ur paying for a premium you can make a Xtx or 4080s build for that price
I've seen multiple used 3080s in my area going for sub $400 lately, with some as cheap as $300 which is insane value IMO.
Why 7600 lose performance when not having pcie 4.0 when other cards lose so little performance?
The 6800 was very cost competitive in 2023. There are too many cards to include them all.

How can you actually throw the best graphics card out right now in A?
Some feedback: with the SUPER card I could not see anymore which card is which. Should have placed super on the card image. Furthermore would have been nice to add some last gen amd cards since they are still being produced. Lastly I’m confused by the 7700xt, did it drop so much in price? The 7900GRE is often on sale for like €520 here, totally S tier in my book! Also the 4070ti super 16GB is pretty high up there as the first 16GB card imo.
Fully agreed. 7900GRE and 4070tiS the best picks from each company this gen.
4090 has terrible value, why A tier
He has no idea what he's talking about. He put the A580 in A tier while it's a worse value than a used or discounted A750, and put the A770 in C tier when it's the best value there is for 16GB of memory. And that's just the bad takes on the Intel side.
He put it there because its the best GPU but I agree for the price tag it is awful value . Value wise it is legit D tier .
@@ryanspencer6778 I own a Arc A770 LE personally for the price when I got it being 375$ it's been quite nice always having extra vram the drivers sucked at the start but as time goes on I'd say it should be in A tier
FKN Love my 7900 XTX and all the new UE5 games run stellar. Highly recommend it unless ur playing one of the 3 "rtx rt" games and need native 4k with path tracing. Anyway, there are a shht ton more games that run better on it than an rtx 4080 and some better than a x2 cost 4090
Is it better than the 4080?
@@CashbagGamingIt's equal to it as it trades blows. Id recommend it if you don't use Ray tracing
@@CashbagGaming it is yes
4080 is better as ray tracing is 10 times better on the nvidia cards.
@@MAR-jq7co more like 15%, but there are still way more raster games compared to ray tracing ones, and a lot of games have shitty ray tracing where you can barely notice it.
Got the 4070ti super a few weeks ago. Overclocks to 4080 stock level performance for so much less. Its actually an amazing card, but could be even better if it was $100 less.
Agree with 7700 placement, the price to power/ability is fantastic, i have reccomended it to my clients past 3 months when the price was 360-390.
i got a 4080 for 500 is the higher then a tier??
Due to possibility to overclock, RX7900gre probably deserve to be on a S-tier.
Also I don't agree that RX4090 deserves to be in A-tier. Buying this overpriced card today without urgent need is a throwing half of the money to the trash bin just because RTX5080/5090 will come and cut it's price less than in a year.
I would have put the 4090 in either B tier or C tier due to the 5090 coming out. Also the 4090 is overpriced and when the 5090 launches the value of the 4090 will drop like milk. Today it’s $1,800. Tomorrow it will be under $1,000.
I've had my new desktop rig for a couple weeks now, and I must say that I have no regrets saving the extra money by going with a 4070S over the 4080S or even the 4070 Ti. Very power-efficient card compared to the more powerful variants, and I don't really plan on buying a ton of new games in the future and plan on going through my old wishlist instead. That being said, I think I'll be very happy with my 4070S until it's time to replace everything or upgrade to 4K gaming for AAA titles.
You should say "gaming solutions".
As there now will be supper powerful(up to higer mid class GPU ability) integrated graphics now.
i would put the 7800 xt at S, i see it around 450 alot and for that price its amazing
also the new pricing for the 4070 ti is hot garbage but if u can find it used, its a great deal. i see some sellers on ebay accept offers for like 550 for it which is not bad considering its faster than a 4070 super but for 50 bucks less
Agree, I would also put GRE there, 7700XT to drop to A
Just bought a 7900xt, Still running a 1060 (3gb) so I see no reason why the 7900xt get me through a decade of Gaming and video/photo editing too. I was going to go for the GRE but I figured I could actually benefit from the extra 4gb of vram, and also visually speaking, there just isn't any interesting AIB designs for the GRE
In my country the rx 7600 is about 30€ cheaper than the rtx 4060 so I do believe that it is worth spending that extra money to get dlss frame gen and better efficiency, as here in Europe electricity is kinda pricey…
How can a 7700 XT be that high? Needs to be below 349 to make any sense at all.
maybe pricing in the US is different, but there is little reason to go 7700xt over 7800xt imo. significantly faster and more future proof with 16gb for just a bit extra $ on top
4090 is D tier for it’s ridiculous price tag. Should have never been more than 1200usd and that’s pushing it. 70%+ profit margins are robbery.
Do you understand how high end pricing works? Ever look up the price of a Ferrari? Do you have 20x more care than a civic? No
What would you rather have a card that does 275-300W also a lot smaller for a cheaper price that competes with the same fps performance as a 4090 that does 400-450W+?. Also 4090 will still be more expensive given the price it wont magically get cheaper that fast! The biggest difference that the 4090 will have is probably just vram!
I'm still on a 1080 itching to upgrade but with new releases so close i just can't justify buying a card now. I got a weird system with a 7800x3d and 96gb gucci hynix ram since i just couldn't wait any longer and i carried forward my 1080 lol. Still looks nice vertical mounted in a y70 goat card
I wait next 5 years for 9000 series to come out so i can buy 4080 super for 100$ cheaper than its costs now. I am very smart😎👍
🤣🤣🤣 Dude, you're so funny, but there's no need waiting that long 'Coz the 4080 super will drop in price by only $100 within the 5years, Nvidia is too greedy, they'll drop the price $20 per year🤣🤣
A man can still... dream😂
of course in Canada the price for the 7700xt hasn't moved all. Still the original price.
I think you're being unduly harsh on the A770 because you're not considering its non-gaming uses.
Agree with the A580 being at top of A tier, arguably the only brand new graphics card out right now that solidly competes with the used market for its price, almost certainly the only one in the budget tier that does
If i have the 4070 super and the TI is only 20 euros more should i go for the TI? Is it a better card mostly for cs2?
4070ti is only 5-10% faster. What coolers and brands are they? If it’s the same brand and cooler I would pay €20 extra. But if it’s like a shitty cooler on the 4070ti I would pick the 4070S.
@@santeenl both msi 2x OC, no idea about cooler but its about 200 euro less than the 3x version which is sus. Might change for the ti super. Also checked a benchmark video in cs2 the 1% low is around 150 less than it should for the super
The 4090 is hard to rank because its price is in a tier of its own, but so its its performance. You can easily compare something like a 4080 Super and 7900xtx by looking at rasterization, ray tracing, ect. There is no peer for the 4090. It is a luxury item.
I think cards like 7800XT and 4070 Ti Super are "5 years cards" so they should be S tier...
Slower cards will be replace earlier because they will not be able to keep up in newer games.
Faster cards also will be replace eralier because people who bought them are those who wants top performance ones.
And because 16GB VRam sounds like future proof solution they will be serving for longest time.
If content creation is taken into consideration, Arc cards are not less than 'A' tier. AMD only does gaming better, and I think they shouldn't only rely on the gaming market as NVIDIA is dominating because they provide good performance in every sector.
Amd gpus runs better than rtx in davinci resolve...arcS are good if followed by intel cpus for video and content creation.
I build my new PC on 4070ti in march. And i find ur list very weird 😉😁 but im ok with that🤗
Finna snag an 4070 to super once the 50s series drop
7700xt in S tier is outrageous lol. Its value is so bad compared with previous gen 6750xt and 6700xt. Should be in C tier tbh maybe B
Agreed
Its 2024 tier list...
@@AsmodeusExx I didn't say 6700xt/6750xt should have been on the list, I said 7700xt is bad value
7700 XT S tier wat, that card only existed to make the 7800 XT look better but now it has come down in price and canibalized it completely. It will only be worth looking at, at real 350- street prices as a 6750 XT replacement
The RX 6750XT is going for around $300 right now. It easily beats out the 4060 and comes close to the unpopular 4060TI. I would have considered that GPU and put that into S tier.
Also the 7700XT while it is a good value at $400. The 7800XT is only $80 more and gives you 16GB VRaM and 17% better performance.
So if anything the 7800XT is the best value right now at $480.
I got a rx 7800 xt from newegg for $429.99. At that price I suppose you would have put it on the S tier.
How I'd rank them:
S Tier: RX 7800 XT (for 450$ or less), RX 7700 XT (for 380$ or less), A770 16GB
A Tier: RX 7900 XTX(for 900$ or less), RX 7900 XT(for 800$ or less), RTX 4080 Super(for 900$ or less), A580, 4070 Super
B Tier: A750, 7600 XT, 7600, 4070 Ti Super
C: A 770 8GB, 4060, 4060 Ti 16GB
D: 4060 Ti, 4070 Ti, 4080
Sounds nice
I agree with your list with a few changes: RTX 4060 and 4060 ti are d tier and the 4090 is b tier only because of price.
Amd fans should rejoice because the only s tier is the 7700 XT. Now of the 8800 XT comes in at 549.99 its a solid a tier card but if at $499 it is an s tier.
I would place 7900XTX in S Tier because in my country has a very good price, and with OC can almost reach the performance of 4090. For the 4080 is a bit unfair to place it in D :))) Is a great card that deserves atleast C Tier.
No way the 7700XT is ahead of the 7800XT or the GRE. It's price to performance is worse than either of those.
The most popular discrete AMD graphics card on the steam hardware survey is the RX 580… which is ancient. Almost nobody uses these AMD graphics cards.
7800XT here!
Hahaha xD If you ignore the Intel Arc cards, I think this is a great video!
Why are you starting with Intel cards? xD I would never get them so early, NEVER ^^ Maybe after gaining a lot of experience with drivers and after 2-3 generations, hopefully. But now, for gaming? I can't buy it, as anyone who wants to play games because a lot of games don't work properly :(
If you were assessing these cards at MSRP I'd maybe agree more but the 4090 costs 2000 in reality and the 4080 1000 so saying the 4090 is B and 4080s is D is silly.
right now the 6800 is like s++ or something because cheaper than 7700xt and faster
6950XT is the Sigma. Always use FrameGen Mod when possible.
the RX 6000 & the RTX 30xx series not being here is a crime
most of the new gen cards aren’t worth it unless you’re buying 4k gaming cards (7900 GRE/4070S and above)
any nvidia card below the 4070 ti sucks (aside from 3060 12gb cheaper than $250)
7700xt gets beat by the 6800
7800xt gets beat by the 6900xt
7600xt/7600 gets beat by the 6750xt
If Nvidia just used normal PCIE connections, they would have saved on cost and all their cards would have gone up half a tier (for me at least)
The 12VHPWR is such a stupid connection
I'd put the 7900-GRE over the 7800XT and 4070-Super. I LOVE DLSS on my RTX-2080 (gave it a breath of life), but I think the extra VRAM (vs 4070-Ti) and shader-count(vs 7870XT) give it extra life, and FSR is getting better. Also, the 7900GRE is the cheapest dedicated GPU you can use for Privately run AI. Having a ball essentially running an unrestricted version of ChatGPT. Also, AMD unlocked the memory overclocking, so with tuning you can get sorta kinda 7900-XT performance. Can the 4070-Super get to 4070-TI-Super performance? (that's a genuine question, and a cool video idea..."Can a 7900GRE Overclock and perform closer to a 7900XT, more so than a 4070-Super overclock and perform like a 4070-Ti-Super?"
How can you use the 7900 gre for AI?
4090 should be on it's own island called God Tier above everything else and out of frame. It's just not comparable to the peasants below it. Looking at the actual list of normal GPUs that are in Beer League, the only change I'd make is moving the 7900 XTX up to A Tier near the end.

Which kind of childhood trauma people suffer writing " no rx 6xxx series or rtx 3xxx series?" It is a 2024 tier list wtf
If the RX 7900 GRE dropped to $450-500, that would be the true value king monster for current gen GPUs. It looks to be definitely heading that way. Curious if it will happen near November when we have Black Friday deals.
As for the top end, RTX 4090 is just a complete slap in the face. $1700 for that GPU is so overpriced. I rather buy a gaming PC with a complete setup with a RX 7900 XTX for the same price that would be a beast of a PC compared to just the 4090 alone. The performance difference maybe 30% but value wise, the RTX 4090 is just sad. The 4090 just seems like a dedicated 4k Ray Tracing GPU specifically designed for that, except for games like Alan Wake 2 where it has a heart attack. Ray Tracing just isn't a good option nowadays for most games. Too much performance loss.
no game worth playing requires anything stronger then a NVS 510
Hey I have 3 choices pls help, I'm on 27in 1440P 170Hz
200$ 6700XT used (from a friend)
500$ 7800XT sapphire Pure open box full warranty
660$ 7900GRE sapphire Pure NEW stock
(I'm living in 3rd world country, everything costs more)
7800 xt then
@@Acrophyllia hmmm is it that good then
@@blackknight50277621 7800xt would crush any game in 1440p. Unless you go ray tracing. I would have recommended the 7900gre but seeing the price you listed. 7800xt would have better value to you
@@blackknight50277621 7800xt is enough to crush any AAA titles for 1440p unless you want ray tracing. Would have recommended the 7900gre if the price was better though
Ngl i would say 7900gre is also S (at least in My country)
I guess I'll keep my 1060 for one more year
Arc 770 is $240 @ newegg right now
3080 to 4070ti super isn't much of an upgrade... I'm holding off for maybe 5080... if it's 1000.
im getting 25-40% more frames going from a 3080 to 4070 ti super. the 3080 12gb came out for $799 at release (2022), the same price the 4070 ti super retails at. that's a W
@@rich2579 yea dlss 3 is cool
7600XT the forgotten middle child
you forgot rx7600xt
I also want to forget that one
Got a 4080 open box for $803 and I think it’s worth it
No card is worth $800, u on crack?
6800XT???????????????????
7900XTX is a killer deal, easily top of A. It has the best price/performance on the market, Only RDNA 4 will beat it in price and it still won't surpass it in performance
It absolutely doesn't lmfao, all the mid-tier cards beat it easily.
@@anitaremenarova6662 well not a 7700, but it beats the 4070ti, 4080, 4080 super, and 4090 in price/performance, and is a lot faster than the 7900XT. If anyone were to get a card to last 2 gens, it's the XTX
and where is RX 6000 series?
In 2022 tier list...maybe 2023
@@AsmodeusExx Still there is plenty of new GPU 6000 Series i recently Bought RX 6800 XT cause 7800 xt had no sense its litleraly same performance as previous series. and its 1/5th cheaper than 7800xt
I ll keep my 6900XT for this year 🙁
4060 uses 115w to play cyberpunk maxed out u insane ?
steam surveys say otherwise
I miss the 1070
You forgot the rtx 4060 ti 16gb
I think the saying is sunshine and rainbows lmfao
Im wondering how difficult it might be to get a 5090 when they come out, or shortly after.?.? Im thinking about buying a 4090 and puttin git back in case 5090s are impossible. I can always ebay the 4090 later if i get my hands on a 5090.
The average consumer will likely not be able to buy it this year , I doubt you will be getting the 5090 this year in all honesty . As far as the 4090 goes I would advise against buying it because it will drop in value once the 50 series comes , it is not worth that insane price tag , certainly not anymore , if you buy it now for like 1800 bucks and the 50 series comes out the value of your 4090 will plummet because it will be competing with the 5080 which will likely not go over 1200 bucks possibly even 1000 so unless your GPU is terrible my advice if you want the 5090 is to wait for it or buy something else that is decent but wont destroy your valet .
Two of them just say super lol
lol, pandering to the budget gamer crowd.
where is the 6950xt??
Not current gen. Can’t always find it new anymore.
@@GraphicallyChallenged very true, u cant get them
I think 4070 ti super is the only S tier card right now besides the 7700xt. AMD doesn't have anything to offer besides low /low mid range if u wanna play indie and 5-10 year old games it is fine. But for newer games you wanna have raytracing and that is where AMD has about half the performance of nvidia. Also FSR is far worse than DLSS so playing 4k with FSR or 1440p with FSR is not gonna be a enjoyable experience. So a 7900 xtx is useless in almost every situation, it got too much rasterizing power , offers worse upscaling and really bad raytracing performance. And for 5-10 year old games it is overpowered and for newer games with raytracing it is hardly underpowered. And nobody buys a high end card and then plays with raytracing off. If you do creative work Nvidia is the way to go anyways. So everything above a 7700xt from AMD should be D Tier. AMD has to start offering something usefull in the raytracing direction or else they will go bankrupt soon. Till then there is no card that beats the 4070 ti super price to performance wise if you calculate in raytracing. And it has 16 gigs of ram which nvidia is greedy with. The other NVidia cards I aggree with and Intel cards also. The 7600 is fine in B tier But 7900s need to go to D tier.
Raytracing my ass🤡
Couldn’t disagree with you more, ray tracing is over rated. You get high frames, better lighting effects and rasturization with the 7900xt and 7900xtx.
4090 is top of S.
In terms of performance sure , in terms of value it is D tier , you likely wont find it for less than 1700-1800 bucks and for that price it is terrible price to performance . C tier at best , it is just way too expensive . For it to be S tier it would need to be like 1200 bucks .
yeh great card 4090 with 400-500W power consumption just the card alone and as big as a brick!! yeh mhm A tier! As soon as new cards with similar perf with a lot less power consumption and a lot smaller scale then the 4090 appear as well as cheaper price the 4090 will be absolute! And most likely that's coming next gen soo 4090 waste of money!
*You should have dont last gen top end in this.
