Farmall H and John Deere No. 5 sickle mower

A green implement finds its way to Rusty Relics Ranch! This John Deere No. 5 mower was given to me by a friend & neighbor. I had never used a sickle mower before, but after a few repairs and adjustments, we go mowing!

I have a john deere no5 I use on a farmall h also mower was given to me also work well have cut hay with it when mower conditioner was broke down works good to clip pastures also

Is the lower chain case cover plate a casting or looking like it was sheared out of plate stock? I grew up mowing with a JD5 mower behing a JD MT and after I left the farm either my brother or Father, can't remember who backed into something substantial and broke that plate. worked in a fabrication shop back then and made one out of plate stock. Nick

I believe it is a casting. I know the top is because one of those ears was broken and welded back at some point.
