Bing, Jerry Lewis and so on were men that thought because they made the big money the family should treat them with much respect, but when their children disrespect the father they can't handle it. They are not Evil men, they are looking for the respect they feel they deserve.

Every time I get interested in one of these homemade documentaries something happens to turn me off. Misinformation for one. At 1:27 the voice, probably AI, says Bing died in 1907. That means he was a walking corpse through the entire 20th century. If you're going to go through all of the effort to make a documentary, make sure you get the information right. And use your own voice, or hire a voice talent, for crying out loud! So no, if you can't get one piece of information right, then I will not watch to the end. There's probably more misfires to come.

Now, I'm a fan of old movies, especially B&W movies. But I could never take seriously the idea that Hollyweird thought Crosby and Fred Astaire were..."hunks" that made women swoon. I mean come on, they were tiny little men in stature. And not handsome by any measure. Sing and/or dance, sure. It's what they did. But a Dorothy Lamour wouldn't have given a thought to either. Same with Bob Hope.

Call yourself a journalist; you have missed-out one of the most poignant incidents in Crosby's life. In 1976 he underwent a life-and-death operation for the removal of one of his lungs due to cancer ! The rest of your programme is based on rumour and the ramblings of a bunch of selfish, over-indulged ugly spoiled brats, who lacked the respect that was due to a father who kept them in clover for the entirety of their lives ! Their deaths were object lessons of selfishness, greed and over-indulgence; something that would - in contrast with Bing's personal failings - make him an angel !

Either way, tearing down an icon after this many years, just isn't right.

Bull- I worked at La Costa Country Club in San Diego county. All the stars were great and pretty reserved. I was a surfer then and didn't watch tv at all-did a room service one morning for Annie Dickinson and Burt and noticed she didn't sign the check. I told her, hey lady, you need to sign. She looked at me like you should know who I am. Police Woman was huge then. Burt Lancaster wore insulated underwear like my grandfather. The Rolling Stones ate in the bar and had steak sandwiches and fries. They were skinny. I didn't know who they were but they were crunched in a booth so tight and didn't say much. Marisa Barenson chased me around the dinning room one night. She was in Barry Linden and was big at that time. She had on the tightest black jeans with silver outline all over. Every time I would stand by a pillar in my station, I would look over and there she was, smiling. She was short, but cute. Anyway

Bing's sons from the first marriage were an absolute disgrace, with the carousing, the women, and drinking. When they reached 21, papa Bing gave each one million, but they did a good job at spending it down to nothing, and Bing was fed up with the behavior, and then they needed more. The Alcohol gene from Mom, took hold on the boys, and after Bing's death 2 of his boys committed Suicide. Sad, for I think Bing was a good guy. Gary Crosby wrote a book about his dad, telling what a jerk he was, only because he needed some money. Sometime, it's sad to be from a famous family.

  •  หลายเดือนก่อน

This story needs a few corrections. His real name was Harry as stated but he got the name “Bing!” because the other kids would shoot at him with their slingshots using Bing cherries for ammo. When they hit his head he got “Binged” and the name stuck. Then later at school the kids would walk by him and say “Bing! Bing!” The name stuck and he grew resentful when it followed him into adulthood. He would occasionally have nightmares of being attacked by hordes of Bing cherries hitting him in the noggin. His wife would shake him to rouse him from his fevered dreams screaming “Bing! Bing! What is it Bing? It was like he was being taunted in his dreams and in his real life. Ultimately this lead to him drinking heavily and wearing a football helmet when he was out in public. One time a waitress at the film studio commissary asked him if he’d like a slice of cherry pie. He took offence and started attacking her saying she was part of a conspiracy. A doctor was called and he was given a shot with a sedative and strapped to a gurney. As he was wheeled to a waiting ambulance bystanders were asking in hushed tones “Who is it? Who is it?” and others would reply “Bing!” It’s Bing”! Life had become a never ending cruel joke. A doctor came to his room at the hospital later that evening and asked “How are you feeling Bing?” His eyes boiled in rage as he gripped the Doctors throat in both hands shouting “You cruel bastard! I’ll kill you!” As the Orderlies wrestled him off the Doctor he was again given a shot of tranquilizers to put him to sleep. He was placed in restraints and given electro-shock therapy for the next 2 months. Eventually things would get better for “Bing!” as he grew to accept his fate. But if you watch some of the old Christmas shows with Frank and Dean when they would affectionately call him “der Bingle” he would shoot a side-eyed glance and wince a little never having fully recovered from his nightmares.

He wasn't evil. He was brought up o the harsh strict catholic discipline. He may as ma y other catholic s of that time have overdid it. But it was what they thought was right " they had to be punished for misbehavior. Still not right, but it's not like sick abuses of Toda. Bing had 4 sons, his first wife died. His boys were troubled too, a d I dont think you can fully blame Bing, if those kids lipped him off. They d really get it. I'm sure Bing brought up that way. And when boys got older, they still did NY get on all that great with Bing. Sad two of his sons committed suicide, Gary wrote a nasty book. Only one son defended his dad. As son as those boys were adults they were old enough to try to improve their use, they didn't, they stayed bitter. Bing second wife Cathy made sure he was kinder to their three kids. Though he was still strict he wasn't as harsh, as he was with his first four boy. To say he was evil is extreme. The man is dead now too. Why bring up now. Serves no purpose. Unless it's stating or advertise a current book coming out. But still he's been dead now 47 years. A great talent. Wonder singer and actor. We never ever hear the positive. I think he was a shy man inside, who cod reveal feelings. He came from a time, when a man could nit show weakness. Henry Fonda was like that too. Some people just are aloof, not deliberately cold. For some it takes awhile to get to know them, when they feel comfortable some are friendlier, some are miserable all the time. But to say he was evil. I e was a. Imperfect flawed human being in real life. On stage and screen he was perfect. Real life is much harsher. I likes the man.

Got a problem with the grammar in the title of this video. Why should I watch a video when you cannot even use correct grammar?

Crosby had a baritone voice? Must be something wrong with my ears.

It's lamentable, this impulse in some people to tear down anyone who has won esteem with the people. Crosby may have been overestimated by some, but there's no call for tearing him down.

I always thought that Crosby was too sweet to be wholesome in his public image. Never liked any of his films.
