    One thing to have long hair:
    -Patience
    Juste nourrish, moisturize your hair, do masks, and you will see your hair grow
    I did for many years, ridiculous recipes for growing my hair, and since and I stopped focusing on the growth and just take care of my hair, I see the difference and my hair is much longer

      I found that almond oil before and after washing works well in my hair. That and keeping it up in loose ponytails and loose buns.

      same i had my hair to my shoulders and in just three years they were already by my boobs just by simply taking care of my hair the right way

      dude my hair grows super fast after I cut it, like shoulder to boobs in half a year... but then it suddenly stops. I think I just don't trim it enough. Cause it's been more than a year since I went to get a haircut. I need layers oof.

    I would love a visual demonstration of the different types of flakes and how to treat them. I mean people describe build up vs dandruff vs dead skin cells, but it’s not the same as seeing it with an explanation (at least for me)

    I really really appreciate you acknowledging east and south asian hair care. A lot of white influencers say that because there aren't Western studies about something working, it doesn't work, when there are oftentimes communities of women who use certain methods and do get results that go forgotten because they're from places that aren't as recognized. much love

    Could you talk about the differences between fine curly hair and coarse curly hair? I’ve read a post which says that fine and coarse hair prefer different types of protein and I’ve seen styling products marketed toward fine hair and once for medium to coarse hair.

    • @georgezakhia125
      @georgezakhia125 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      From what I have heard, coarse hair needs thicker products whereas finer hair prefers lighter products.

    • @nicolepayer1931
      @nicolepayer1931 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @georgezakhia I think Caroline is meaning the molecular structure of proteins. Some proteins are bigger than others in size so if your hair strand is less open you may not really benefit from that specific protein type.

    • @iamsotiredofliving
      @iamsotiredofliving 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So which proteins are good for finer hair?

    • @trev1463
      @trev1463 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Here’s a quote: “how to tailor protein use: ©Science-y Hair Blog 2015
      Choose smaller proteins (any amino acids, any peptides or hydrolyzed: silk, keratin, collagen) if you're new to protein or have coarse hair. Larger proteins (oat, wheat, soy, vegetable, quinoa) tend to work well for fine and medium hair and even coarse hair occasionally.”
      And I bought some Aveda flaxseed aloe gel and THEN noticed that it says it’s for medium to coarse hair (whoops). So I was wondering if there were more differences in between coarse and fine curls.

      Hi, It's not Mell but I started having this issue about two years ago, sometimes I couldn't touch my scalp. It felt like I had a head full of needles. It got better when I started using natural products. The scalp feels so good when I apply oils and I often do masks with ayurvedic herbs and i dye my hair with henna. I still have tenderness sometimes but it's definitely not that pain.. I'm not saying to use only natural products, maybe they' re not good for everyone but I felt the difference.. Hope this helps you. Sorry if I made mistakes, I'm from Italy 😂😊

    Mell, I gotta say: your videos have changed my curly hair life! I've had a long journey of learning how to style my hair and I'm still constantly learning. Your videos have helped me so much! I've been cutting my hair short for years now because of frustration with lack of volume and high amount of maintenance. Because of your content I've felt inspired and empowered to grow my hair out again. I started with your air drying video and that was a huge success. I just finished diffusing my hair and for the first time I'm actually in love with the result. I'm such a fan, please continue to make great videos!! (Especially with your seester!)

  • @shayliugolini9125

    Could you please make an updated version?
    I really appreciate your videos! I saved literally all of your hair tip videos in a hair playlist.. I've been struggling to find the right products and learn how to style my hair correctly. It's so exhausting to me I just don't want to keep trying something new, so i cut off 14in of my hair and donated it. I HATE having shot hair and I don't like how it looks on me but I also can't stand dealing with my hair when it was long (hip length). Im finally starting to want to try to figure it out and I have no idea where to start, but your videos have been a big help. Im getting my hair motivation back and all your tips and advice, I couldn't be more grateful🤎

    Idc if rice water isn’t scientifically proven to help hair grow faster but I have personally seen AMAZING results with it over the past 8 months I’ve been using it!! I started it cus I had a horrible amount of hair loss due to hormonal issues (like handfuls of hair falling out anytime I managed my hair at all) - the first change I noticed was that my hair stopped falling out DRASTICALLY. Like after a couple weeks the hair loss had decreased severely and now my hair loss is very minimal. Secondly, the feel and texture of my hair truly did feel improved. Silky, plush hair after each rinse and in general. And thirdly, I personally feel like it HAS helped with hair growth - both new growth and hair length. One of the main things I noticed probably a month into the rinses is that I had a TON of baby hairs all over my perimeter! My hair line in the front and back was filling in VERY quickly, I haven’t had these many baby hairs since puberty. The baby hairs are also super long like they’re growing very fast. And as for hair length, I trimmed like 5 inches off my hair in December and 2 months later my hair was ALMOST grown back all the way. I probably had about 3 inches of growth in 2 months. I cut 6 inches off again cus I’m just really trying to get rid of all the hair that’s been chemically dyed, and it’s only been 2 weeks but I truly can see a lot of growth even just week to week. It’s not super noticeable right now but I can tell my hair is growing VERY fast, and it has been ever since I started the rice water rinses. Idk about the science behind any of this and I know this is all anecdotal so I’m not saying everyone will experience the same results I have, but I can absolutely swear by my own experience and say rice water rinses have completely changed the way my hair grows! I’m compiling photo evidence since my last hair cut so I can see how long it takes to grow my hair back out after my last major chop (6 inches) lol maybe that’ll help convince skeptics 😂

    I love that you recommendations on products to check out, but could you do a "myth bust" style video covering DIY home made remedies that are out there to review how well they work for all of the broke college and highschool students in the world? :D
    examples: Apple cider vinegar and water as a clarifying rinse to help with product build up
    homemade gel from flax seeds
    various homemade hairmasks
    using basic kitchen oils (olive, coconut etc) to massage the scalp
    rice water
    etc.
    I"m sure other people could chime in with other common DIY hair things that commonly go around that I can't think of off the top of my head.

    My mane girl Mell, help debunk this myth. A lot of people say oils such as argan oil, moroccan oil, etc. are absolutely essential to keep the moisture in your hair and ensure the ends don’t get dry. HOWEVER, other people say it coats your hair and weighs it down. So which is the more beneficial one in the long run? My hair is low porosity so I’m unsure what to do! Thank you girl ❤️

    I love rice water rinses and beer rinses but dont have time for all these rinses. Sooooo i put the rice in a Bud light, stir out the fizzys, let it sit overnight, pour it in a spray bottle, then apply that. Sometimes i add green tea or other herbal teas too. And eo's for smell/benefits. Leave it in about half an hour, then add dc. Leave that in as recommended, then rinse. Seems to really add bounce amd shine. I love the ingredients in curlsmith, alot, but holy cow thats expensive.

    As a caution just be careful with Hyaluronic acid. With the heat and dry air this time of air if there is no where for the HA to draw water from it will instead draw it out of the hair/skin. This is also true if you live in a dry climate it is recommended for humid conditions. Make sure to lock in the HA with a hydrator.

    I'm 15 and have thick, coarse 2B/3B layered curls that go down to my butt and I used to just shampoo, condition, and throw some gel on it as well as air dry and just hope for the best... but today I did shampoo, conditioner (and detangle), moose (raking through) and then gel (scrunching like crazy lol) and then blow drying (on cool) and then scrunch out the cast. And oh man, my curls are looking better than ever! So much more volume and definition but without the frizz. (But I will say blow drying takes a good 15-20 minutes at least lol) I'm so glad I found your channel!! Thanks!!💛💛

    Mell, my mane girl! Can you show us the products you use regularly and how often you use them? It looks like it’s a lot of products you use! I know some of them are just for videos, but I’m curious about your go tos. Thanks for the excellent content

    It always just would blow my mind when I would see people using Mane and Tail. I have horses and that shampoo is designed to wash horse poop and dirt from the horses mane and tails. The conditioner is heavy and waxy and is designed that way to 'weight' the mane and tail so they hang nice and flat for showing.

    Just do what works for your hair. That simple. I use a tea tree mint oil everyday and keep my hair moisturized and tangle-free (as much as possible) and that works for me. (my hair is down to my butt)

    What are your suggestions for fine super curly hair that’s like 3c/4a in the back 3a/b in the front that’s weighed down easily but is also dry and breaks easily? I wash and deep condition weekly. The Aveda curl cream has become my holy grail since I started watching your channel. I also do mainly wash and go hairstyles. Lol
    You’re the best! ♥️

    Hi Mell I've been totally binge watching all of your videos! They are so informative. If you decide to do a second video on myths, I was wondering if that condition before shampoo was a good thing. I have thin hair so silicones really make my hair dirty once I put them in. BUT I love Aveda!
