Made playing the game so freaking hard(but also kinda funny sometimes when I would act like Mario wanted to do his own thing while I tried to play)
This is a great reason not to rush out and buy new consoles. Besides being hard to get, not having enough games, and having outrageously marked up prices, you're breaking your back to buy a system that likely will have some issues. It's better to wait and get them cheaper (I ended up getting a PS4 with 3 Uncharted games for about $250 a year after it's original release, I didn't miss out on anything buying it a year later), with more games, and when they get a chance to fix the problems from the initial release.
Actually, if you were able to get your hands on a 1st generation ps5 it's probably going to be better than the 2nd generation, as Sony has already made it known they are going with cheaper parts for future generations of the ps5.
I've had to get 4 new joycon sets because of that stupid drift. And now my joycons are experiencing a new issue that's super annoying when trying to play handheld mode

I fixed game consoles for a gaming store between 2012-2014 and this video brought up some interesting memories. I think I saw the Red Ring far more often than the Yellow Light, but an Xbox 360 came back far more often than a PS3. Most of the consoles I repaired were able to work after a reflow and some board modifications.

So if I did have any recently, I don't notice because of my ACNH character's constant running around after the 2.0 update.
I don't know of anyone who didn't have an issue with the original NES cartridge slot if they owned one for any length of time. PS3 yellow light happened to me on two different models, fortunately enough it happened two years into ownership of each model and worked well enough that Gamestop still provided significant trade in value on each unit at the time. Bought my first PS4 for less than $80.00, out of pocket, bundled with a Batman Arkham game. PS4 doesn't matter the model they all have fan/ overheating issues, two different models, and our current 1TB slim has to be taken apart every few months to clean the fan, heat sink, and vent to prevent overheating.
The Joycon problem was fixed by a youtuber awhile ago. The problem most of the time is the analog housing loosing contact with the receiver thingies. It's a quick fix too, all you need is to open up the controller and stick a square or two of cardboard under the housing and that holds it where its supposed to be. I did it with mine a couple weeks ago and have had no trouble since
My boyfriend and I bought our Switch when Smash Ultimate dropped and started getting JCD months into owning it. It got so bad that some of our games were damn near unplayable. We bought a repair kit to try to fix it ourselves but the damn tiny ass screws were so difficult to maneuver. I just ended up buying new Joy Cons and thankfully that fixed the problem.
I had experienced the PS2s disc read issue because of which I had to upgrade to PS3 much sooner than I would like. It was so common that every time I put a disc inside, it was luck of the draw, and I preyed I would not get the red screen of death and I would be releived when the PlayStation 2 logo popped up. The issue persisted with PS2 slim models as well. It didn't stop in 2002.
I remember wrapping my Buddy’s 360 in two heavy blankets for 30 minutes hopping on club penguin playing some games checked it and fixed ! Hopped back on black ops zombies ascension and had a blast the wrest of the night
One of my younger sisters accidentally left a penny/ coins in our Wii, she thought it was something else and we had to get our Wii fixed overseas and she was told to never to do it again.
I have endured 3 of these the Atari 5200 issue, the yellow light of death in the first one playstation 3 and the red ring of death, thank you so much for your content
This brings back memories. I had to send the ps2 to Sony for repair. I had the red ring of death. And I bought a Virtual Boy at a yard sale with 3 games for 15 bucks. It was missing the headstrap and the tripod. I played it for 10 minutes and I got a headache. I went to turn it on a week later for a friend to try it, thing never powered on again.
I’ve experienced drift on my Switch pro controller and I had to get a new one. Luckily so far my joy cons are ok. It’s not terrible if you have the original switch model but with the lite model it’s a different story.
Keep in mind no matter how much time passes. 12 year olds will always be the internet majority so they're too young for that. Red ring WAS the biggest defect ever.
@@MeanNGreen17 Okay a close second I'd say was how buggy the launch PS5 was. Literally crashed multiple times a day. My brother had to send it in as well as the broken triggers on the Dualsense. Launch PS5 was unplayable for the most part whole playing 3rd party games like COD.
7:35 I remember that my XB360 (Elite) did eventually suffer from the RROD. Although much later than most, I think. (and by then, we were close to getting rid of it anyway) Also, I forgot to mention that after dad opened it, (he seems to like to "salvage" electronics that're obsolete... or simply not used anymore.) something/somewhere in there, were held together with Tin (which, if I remember correctly, have a low melting point)
Anyone notice that WatchMojo doesn’t do honourable/dishonourable mentions in their recent WatchMojo lists anymore? I’d put the faulty GD-rom drive (Dreamcast 1998) on there.
I had my Wii U for many years and as of 2020, Wii U Gamepad started lagging in sound and screen display even while it’s up close to the console. Even my Wii Remotes sometimes have lag in sound. Either I cleaned them too good or that might be my Wii U being below 10 GB. Plus, my right analogue stick started drifting at that time. Either that was due to me playing games like Super Smash Bros. For Wii U too hard or hand sanitizer went inside of it. Also, you should’ve put the “Red Ring of Death” higher than “Joy-Con Drift”.
As much as I love my Xbox one there’s been a couple of instances where it made a really nasty grinding sound whenever a disk was put in. Needless to say I’ve had to do the fix where you flip it on his head and smack it a couple of times. Kind of dumb how that’s the fix that works
Okay my list based off of experience since these zoomers voters mess up the list. Joycon drift was nothing compared to these. Nobody had a virtual boy. 3. Connector pins in the NES. 2. PS2 slim power connector always Frickin broke. 1. Red Ring Xbox 360. This was the first major issue in a console where you couldn't buy something to fix it and it was super widespread when the console was new that made the console completely unplayable. This is what made repair shops for consoles mainstream. My older brother and his friends all got the red ring just by playing. You had to be there to know how bad it was.
On the NES, other than blowing on the cartridge, we used to tap on the left side while pressing the reset button. I had a PS1 that I had to turn upside down to work. I never got around to fixing the PS2 when it stopped reading discs so buying the 60gb PS3 (my favorite) from launch was a no-brainer considering the backwards compatibility…and yes, I got the YLOD, but only after 5 years.
The Joy Con drift, the disk read error, and cartridge blowing were the ones I encountered. The first two are the most annoying especially since this will lead to additional expenses.
considering how expensive some controllers can be for the switch, pro controller being one of them, I imagine it would be frustrating if you need to get new joy cons.
My grandma got me into gaming with the n64 and nes and the latter would eventually get janky. In order to get some of the games to work right we would bend card board and place it above the game making it more snug.
Ghost movement is the worst thing that can happen to every controller like when the character moves on it's own despite you're not moving the analog stick or moving the analog stick to any direction and the character still moves to a different direction.
Although not a huge problem, my NES cartridge slot refuses to click down anymore. That and I had to replace the pin connectors too.. still a great console though
Seeing that Virtual Boy brings back the nausea it caused! As for the Joy Cons, they got so bad I could no longer even control the characters or camera even after two repairs. I finally had to just replace them.
How is Joy-Con drift worse than Red Ring of Death? The RROD can make your console not function at all, the JCD you just need to replace your controller. Also the Virtual Boy’s color scheme was to cut cost
Xbox acknowledged the red ring of death while Nintendo doesn't even consider joy-con drift a "real" problem. Heck they've tried to dismiss the problem as made up or non-existent. Also switch lite is a thing.
I bought maybe 4 PS4 controllers in 2020. The drift was insane. Seeing that the Switch has this as a major issue turned me away from it, and I had no Nintendo myself since the NES.
Funny story. I had one of the bigger models of the PS3, while my brother had an XBOX 360. Sharing one tv, we placed both consoles next to each other. Having no prior problems with it, one day, my PS3 would not turn on. To this day, I still believe that my console was aware of me playing with the XBOX 360.
Joycon drift. Jesus. It started for me about four months after getting the console. Every set of Joycons since has had the same issue, with it just starting to happen with my newest set. I’ve heard that this problem can happen with any controller with an analog stick, however I’ve never experienced it before getting a Switch. Huge pain in the ass.
Now imagine getting one of these consoles that doesn't quite work and living in the middle of nowhere, to the point where it takes over an hour to get to the nearest Gamestop.
Yes I suffered the dumb joy-con drift, and was really sad. Got myself another controller which served me well for a long time but that too started to break, now I'm on my third controller which is smaller and more compact. Nintendo really is kookie with their controllers
Down voted for putting controller problems higher than console problem. At least on the rare occasion when my joy con controller drifts beyond I can always get a new one for roughly $30-$40 each. But if it with a console like the Xbox 360 I have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it replaced

Red Ring of Death (Xbox 360)
Joy-con Drift (Nintendo Switch)
I remember wrapping my
Buddy’s 360 in two heavy blankets for 30 minutes hopping on club penguin playing some games checked it and fixed ! Hopped back on black ops zombies ascension and had a blast the wrest of the night
I do that too on my 360 it actually works but not too long though.
Top 10 Worst Things That Have Happened to Bowser
Launch PS2 Disc Error was far worse than the 360 RROD. At least for me.
Then again, I hadn't need to send the 360 for repairs at all.
I worked at Gamestop during the ps2 defects and 360 red ring of death. Those were FAR more irksome than the joy con drift ever was
That PS2 red intro was really a trigger back then😭😭
I love the switch. OLED especially but I wish it had better quality joysticks not just more reliable.
I’ve experienced drift on my Switch pro controller and I had to get a new one. Luckily so far my joy cons are ok. It’s not terrible if you have the original switch model but with the lite model it’s a different story.
Who here is old enough to remember putting folded card board above the game instead of locking it down on their NES to get it to work?
C’mon. Without watching we all know #1 is the red ring of death 🤣
Wrong. Its only number 3
Keep in mind no matter how much time passes. 12 year olds will always be the internet majority so they're too young for that. Red ring WAS the biggest defect ever.
@@DarkSoul-ds2 easily. Most expensive and widespread. It’s not even close.
For real. I'm glad I never had that problem on my Xbox 360 . Also what whould cause that
@@MeanNGreen17 Okay a close second I'd say was how buggy the launch PS5 was. Literally crashed multiple times a day. My brother had to send it in as well as the broken triggers on the Dualsense. Launch PS5 was unplayable for the most part whole playing 3rd party games like COD.

I remember that my XB360 (Elite) did eventually suffer from the RROD. Although much later than most, I think. (and by then, we were close to getting rid of it anyway)
Also, I forgot to mention that after dad opened it, (he seems to like to "salvage" electronics that're obsolete... or simply not used anymore.) something/somewhere in there, were held together with Tin (which, if I remember correctly, have a low melting point)
The RROD was anyone because emging coming to the lest level of your game and then that red ring comes on and you have lost all of your progress
“it could have been monumental, instead, it landed on this list”
*BIG OOF* 😂
My PS2 has recently developed the disc reading problem. Any advice on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
Emulate games on a master race pc
Q-tip on the cd drive
Open it up and take a q tip with some washing stuff to the eye. Make sure you fully clean the washing stuff off the eye all the way.
I used a cd lenses cleaner
Replace the disk drive
Moral: The bestselling consoles even had the biggest problems.
*Even the best selling consoles had the biggest problems.
Grammar is everything.
that ps2 disk read error gave me nostalgia but the bad type of nostalgia. that scared the fuck out of me as a kid
Anyone notice that WatchMojo doesn’t do honourable/dishonourable mentions in their recent WatchMojo lists anymore? I’d put the faulty GD-rom drive (Dreamcast 1998) on there.
gotta admit: the PS2 error message, Cartridge blowing, red ring of death are nostalgic
I wish Sony allowed the ps1 PS3 PS4 and ps5 consoles to play the ps2 disc 💽 its a bummer that i can't 😞.
Good point but may I say that Microsoft's response was so flipping overlooked
I have suffered joycon drifts last year. I send them to Nintendo for repairs and they haven’t given me trouble since.
I'd say the PS4/PS5 CBOMB issue should at least get an honorable mention.
As much as I love my Xbox one there’s been a couple of instances where it made a really nasty grinding sound whenever a disk was put in. Needless to say I’ve had to do the fix where you flip it on his head and smack it a couple of times. Kind of dumb how that’s the fix that works
Nearly 40 years after the Atari 5200 controller fail and it's STILL hard to make analog sticks that don't suck.
Ah the PS2 error screen. Oh the pain
Man I wanted a Virtual Boy so bad when I was a kid 🤣
Okay my list based off of experience since these zoomers voters mess up the list. Joycon drift was nothing compared to these. Nobody had a virtual boy.
3. Connector pins in the NES.
2. PS2 slim power connector always Frickin broke.
1. Red Ring Xbox 360. This was the first major issue in a console where you couldn't buy something to fix it and it was super widespread when the console was new that made the console completely unplayable. This is what made repair shops for consoles mainstream. My older brother and his friends all got the red ring just by playing. You had to be there to know how bad it was.
Yup I was there
Yes rrod is the worst experience for me with a console then ylod on ps3.
I'm surprised the Dreamcast wasn't listed for the laser disc reader burning out
On the NES, other than blowing on the cartridge, we used to tap on the left side while pressing the reset button.
The Switch drift with the right Joy-Con pisses me off! it gets in the way when I'm playing Animal Crossing or Minecraft!
Hell, the Virtual Boy was basically just one huge defect.
considering how expensive some controllers can be for the switch, pro controller being one of them, I imagine it would be frustrating if you need to get new joy cons.
AVGN: Hold my Rolling Rock
Although not a huge problem, my NES cartridge slot refuses to click down anymore. That and I had to replace the pin connectors too.. still a great console though
Seeing that Virtual Boy brings back the nausea it caused! As for the Joy Cons, they got so bad I could no longer even control the characters or camera even after two repairs. I finally had to just replace them.
I never had any joy con drift issues. Now the drift on those wireless controllers, for $19.99, was another story.
How is Joy-Con drift worse than Red Ring of Death? The RROD can make your console not function at all, the JCD you just need to replace your controller. Also the Virtual Boy’s color scheme was to cut cost
"Just buy a 70$ new controller and you'll problem will get solved 😌"
PS3 gave me numerous problems, bad hdmi port, YLOD twice, controller drift twice.
You also failed to mention how the 3ds had bad eyestrain when the 3d was on and recomended young people only play it for 20 minutes at a time.
I think it's cause nobody actually used the 3D slider for longer than 10 minutes.
I suffered joy-con drift at the worst possible moment. That being in the lockdown.
I use to hate that ps2 disc error with a passion lml
RROD hands down
