    16:10 just a comment on the helm. It can be displaced an locked in 3 positions: central and both sides. So It is an advantage over other shipyards.

    I love the Sirius 35 ds cabin layout and the seating around the salon, i agree there are too many steps but nothing else gives basically 2 master cabins and the nice salon area, i also really like the bilge keel with its ability to "park" on a beach, and a large space on the foredeck, all very intriguing features. The deck salon look in general with the big windows is very beautiful, I like all of them, even the hybrid ds models.

    Moscow Mule is the drink in the copper cup.
    On the Bennie hybrid there was still 5 steps into the salon, so no. Without the benefit of seeing any of these in person, I'd say the Moody 44. But I would also look at catamarans too. Bow thruster would be super mandatory for these boats. A stern thruster would be a great to have. How fast are these boats? Can they do a beam reach at 7knts in a 15knt wind?

    Love the DS design. The single helm on the Sirius moves from port to starboard or center position. It has a smaller wheel than other single helm designs so when centered there is room to walk around it. If dreams were cash, a DS would be my choice.

    The complications on creating a deck salon, increase the price greatly, in my opinion don’t really work well economically. That is why more standard boats like the Benteau, Jeaneau, and Hunter in the 40 foot length sell in far 😊for greater numbers. I can certainly step down to a raise deck salon in order to save $300,000.

    Hello Chris, really enjoyed this video. Thanks and I would lean toward the Moody for all the reasons you brought up. Any idea with the upcoming Market slide if the Moody's will become any more affordable? I know that Quality always holds it's value....but wouldn't it be nice to have the Moody! I have the time to find a steal if you think it could happen? Maybe a repo? Thanks again and interested to know what you think?

    In my opinion, the Sirius is better than the Moody. Here’s why; keel options; thicker hull; three cabin option; higher comfort ratio; lower deck salon profile. And although some might consider it a bit tight in it’s layout, your less likely to be injured when moving around because of not enough hand rails ie wakes from other vessels, rolling anchorages, and sudden wind gusts. But most of all the Sirius is basically customizable in comparison to production sailboats.

    • @Darrylks5961
      @Darrylks5961 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ABC gang agreed! My opinion is based on the likelihood of having two, maybe three people on board maximum. Generally I’d think I’d be soloing. What I do like about the Moody is the cockpit covering and the forward helm station location. The Moody would be my second or third choice. As for the cost, it is less expensive than the Sirius. But no matter which one chosen, boats are money pits.

    Bought a Hunter 41 DS yesterday. Got it for $32,000 under the asking price, so yeah, negotiate on price, especially in this market.
    If I could afford it, I would have bought a Moody 41, but that is way outside of my budget.

    Okay just a note about that Sirius. I saw in a video last week that that wheel pivots. Yes, more mechanical stuff to break, but does that not fit your requirement for a helm on either side if the wheel pivots from port to starboard?
    2nd note as I'm watching... hahaha, I Can see after a few sun-downers out on the deck and missing that step down into the DS and falling off to that rear cabin, not by intent... hahaha "Oh shit, gravity works" ...

    I love the space on a catamaran. On anchor is just wonderful. I have sailed monohulls all my life from dingy to 34ft and always felt it could just not compete on anchor. Enter the Moody 48DS .... oh my word. That is just wonderful. I want one, but at almost a million Euro it is just not possible ... even at the price of the 41DS. Wonder what they will be worth after they sell out of charter? Maybe ... maybe .... maybe one day.

    The Moody and Sirius that you showed are design for European crowded ports and anchorage. They don't make much financial sense anywhere else where there is space. Beneteau has try to get into this market with bigger boats with the Sense line a few years ago but were not successful. I like the raise floor on DS model has you don't feel that you are in cave as much but is not that important to me.

    Hi guys. Sitting in my hotel in Croatia. Going home tomorrow empty handed. Learned a lot about this place.

    • @MoggAndrew
      @MoggAndrew 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@makisp.1428 Yes indeed. I had some people lined up to show me many boats and they flaked. All they could show me was 2 bad ones. So I contacted several brokers in the time I had and saw a few more but really you need to be staying here for a month with a car to be able to drive to all the places you need to. As Chris will tell you.. you CANNOT tell what a boat is like from photos. And people lie. About 90% of the boats here are charter boats, and there seems to be two tiers of them. The main ones that let their boats go after 5 years as you see in the caribbean, but there is a HUGE secondary market where other "Charter" companies buy them up and continue using the,m for many more years. And these are the ones you see advertized at low prices. I saw loads of them and they are all worn out and tired and I wouldn't buy one. But.... it's the Gem you are looking for and I did see one which I couldn't have bought but it was an Elan 40 in really good condition, well looked after etc. but it just wasn't the boat for me. too narrow in the bow and weird short steps to trip over in the sole. So.. I'm keeping my search going.

    • @ChasingLatitudes
      @ChasingLatitudes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A waste of space are single cockpits, no room, usually cluttered and small, dual helms give you far more room as they open up the cockpit. The cockpit being where I spend 90% of my time I prefer an open cockpit

    • @willhackett-jones1354
      @willhackett-jones1354 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChasingLatitudes thanks. But surely that's a side effect of having to fit two helms in? You'd have more space if the cockpit was just as open, but had one helm.
