    It's decent. Wont get away from you. It requires a bit of force but its not bad. My SRAD was the best steering bike I owned, the R6 was similar to the Ninja but was a lighter bike so more flickable. For a litre sport tour, it's great. I hear changing the rear tire profile will step it up, going to do that next.

    Good tip on the idle speed and engine breaking. I find the engine breaking troublesome, especially for shifting. If you release the throttle too much and shift it tends to clunk so I find I have to just lightly pull in the clutch and roll back off the throttle just a hair in order to shift smoothly. I'll try increasing the idle to see if it is a little more forgiving. Cheers.

      ectomorph short tugs on the clutch and backing off the throttle just a touch is the proper technique. Less stressful on all the components. Remember, it's not a truck.

    Thanks for your very comprehensive and concise review. I've been looking at getting a sport tourer for commuting and the N1K is at the top of my list. The biggest drawback is the pillion seat. I wouldn't want to sit there and I don't imagine too many women will either. Others I'm considering: Versys 650 LT, FJ-09, GSX1250FA, FJR1300, VFR 800/1200... I prefer something that doesn't weigh any more than the low 500's. I've got a 700 pounder now (2004 Meanstreak) and I'm eager for something I can really throw around a bit. Although I did take a 2016 FJR for a test ride and was very surprised at how tossable it was for it's size.

    I got them on ebay. If I was to get another set, i would make sure they stuck out farther.

    Good information about the idle speed control up and down, I have the 2014 Ninja 1000 in blue. And probably the fully Synthetic oil is not good for it, something like a blend is better. I also changed my front tire to a Michelin Pilot 3, which seems to grip the road better,. what kind of oil do you use in it?

      Synthetic oil is fantastic for well run-in motorcycle engines (at least 1500 miles on odometer). What people need to realize is that the wet-clutch is the main concern with motorcycles. Stay away from automotive oils as they contain friction modifier minerals and metals which will cause the wet clutch to slip. However, diesel-specific engine oils do not have these friction modifiers and work perfect for motorcycles in the proper viscosity. I've used 15w-40 Rotella oil in most of my motorcycles with zero problems. For synthetic I will run 5w-40 Rotella. Other diesel specific synthetic oils from Mobile, Shell, Castrol, etc. will work just fine. The owner's manual will specify a range of oil viscosity based on the temperatures you plan to ride in. Usually 40 weight is common, wither 5, 10, or 15w - 40.

    Should've gotten that vfr800, love my v4 engine

      I was looking at the VFR, not the newer one but the last generation. I agree, the sound and engine are amazing but I found it too small for me. At 6'2" the 1000 fit better and the VFR has a tricky engine to work on if it came to that. If I could afford 2 bikes, a vfr or Ducati Streetfighter would be the one.

      @@gaving4359 I have the 2007 and I agree that it's the better looking model compared to the latest one out and has a higher top speed also. I absolutely love the ninja 1000 you have though and I always favor the green over every color 👍👍. If I could afford two bikes I would love to have that same 1000 of yours

    I have the oil the dealer put in, not sure what it was. Haven't put enough miles on her to change it yet, soon though. I hear the pilot 3 is a good match for this bike, will likely get it when the time comes.

    Is that the original exhaust?i like it,its added more aggressive look in the back view of the bike,i saw some exhaust of the z1000sx is the stainless one,i dnt know if that is a stainless,but its a white shiny.

    • @gaving4359
      @gaving4359  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's original. I saw the stainless versions on line, not sure of where or what years they came from. The black is cool for sure.
