FYI bring the rpm up to only 1000-1200 or so then engage the pto, once rpm stabilize then start bringing the rpm up to get to 540. Way less abusive to tractor and implements !

Came here to say the same thing, Very hard on the pto to engage at full speed,

@@vxnova1when starting up my rotary cutter (I have electric engagement ) I turn the switch on and off quickly to get the head to just start spinning so the blades will equalize then I turn it on, and then bring up rpm.

Hi, Great job clearing your new land. The finished area looks awesome...
Is there any update on your repair of the drum housing. Are you happy with the unit after the repair? 😊

the bearing flanges on the drum are not heavy duty enough for heavy duty flail work. I went through two sets before modifying the drum shaft to take a machined steel bearing flange. I also caged the bearing. All good for the last few months.

Yep. It is definitely the weak point on this flail mower. The hammer blades are very substantial so they are designed for more than just cutting grass and weeds but the drum housing is complete garbage. Broke 2x on me now. Buy a better unit would be my advice.

I was thinking on getting one but I don’t see how it’s not a warranty issue. I will have dig deeper, that’s a lot of money to break that easy

If you keep taking your tractor that high before you turn the PTO on it won't last long you'll break something ‼️🚜

I think you are confusing the “forest” mulchers and a flail mowers!?
Your attachment is certainly not intended for the use you are forcing to do it! I am surprised it lasted even a day long!
Not a warranty claim by any means..
And even if you mowe only a grass(as it should), it still not intended for uneven terrain, much less sticking rocks!
It’s just an agricultural attachment! Simple as that!

With the hammer blades it says brush up to 2” in diameter. The Y Blade version is less robust. Hammers are designed for this brush clearing. Watch any review of similar hammer flail mowers. My land is flat. It has the odd rock that is mostly buried but may stick out a small bit (like an inch or so) from the soil. Usually rounded rock left from the ice age and the moving glaciers. This land is reclaimed farm land. It’s not jagged rocky land. Look at the drone shots. It’s flat except for some scrub brush. I avoid any smaller trees and flail just the scraggly brush. It should be able to handle this. I suggest you look at other hammer flail mowers reviews to see what they can do before sending comments.

Don’t know what Americans do with their mulchers.. but this is reality.
