  • Learn how to sew DIY ear savers for face masks in mere minutes! Step by step diy ear saver tutorial over at hellosewing.com/diy-ear-saver...
You'll also learn the easiest way to hand or machine sew on buttons for the ear guards and you'll be able to whip up a handful of practical ear guards for face masks in less than an hour. The best thing is that to make this ear protector you can use up your fabric scraps. All you need to make one ear saver is just a 9x3.5" piece of fabric. Make ear saver for nurses or face mask adapter for yourself and your family.
    But why bother?
The elastic loops of the face mask rub the back of the ears causing terrible irritation for the people who are wearing face masks during their long shifts. It might be just a simple button strap, but this simple ear saver for nurses, doctors or grocery stores workers take the pressure off the ears and provide the much needed ear relief they need and lets them focus on their work.

Very nice..suggestion..to sew a button on by hand..start the needle through the top of the fabric so the button sits on the knot and the knot doesn’t show on the back side. Great tutorial.

Love this. I teach Kindergarten so I wear a mask all day. I am hard of hearing and wear 2 hearing aids. My hearing aids are always falling out or dangling. 😩

Thanks for the video, did you use a particular measurement for the position of the buttons? is there a point where they are "too loose"?

It does not need to be precise. I just placed them near the edge of the ear guard. You can sew up the ear guard and put on your mask to see where the ear loops hit

what size button would you recommend? I have found some buttons I really like, they are 17mm - is that big enough?

Love the tutorial. But I cringe at any music like this on videos. I want to just turn it off. The whistling one and this one is used way too often in videos.

Thanks for letting me know. You can totally turn it off as there is no talking in the video
