A very interesting side node about freezing pot: according to the Fextralife wiki the frost build up per freezing pot is 380, but Malenia's frost resistance is around 300-310 This means that any one single throw will frostbite her, what is important about that is when she got frostbitten, the frost damage will knock her out of ANY animation. So you could use this to interrupt the crazy waterfowl dance move of her when she jumps to the air and you can CANCEL IT UPFRONT. And also the amount of that frostbite buildup is seemingly not scaling with anything so this probably means it works with any build. I saw this in ONGBAL's video the other day I am absolutely astonished by it: th-cam.com/video/cQvMjDC8Hjk/w-d-xo.html
very few ppl know this, ur mimic use ani type of consumables you have equiped so i have 4 of the perfumes that give a buble and so the mimic will use of them and give me another buble apart from the flask one, this wont consume the items u have equiped

I love using the Volcano and Freezing Pots. I'm running a strength/intelligence build with Cold Weapons, so having an awesome source of fire damage is always good to have on hand. They're also really good against groups of enemies like the shield slimes.
Pots are great. Rot Pots are my go to way to kill those Ancient Dragon in Farum Azula. One or two are usually enough inflict them with Scarlet Rot. Sleep Pots are also great especially against the Godskin Duo. One Pot ( if they don't walk out of the sleep cloud immediatelly) and its good night. Fire Pots and its cousins are also a nice mid range option for Strenght Builds.
something worth noting - in the video, it's rightly mentioned that holy pots are extremely strong against the skeletons. what's a bit less obvious, though, is that holy pots also OBLITERATE deathbirds, especially if you've put some points in faith. i personally find them to be erratic and hard to read, but throwing holy water pots does massive damage at very low risk, and it doesn't require the intelligence investment of the litany of proper death/order's blade incantations. making a batch of these and hunting down deathbirds early is a pretty powerful game path. pots are incredibly powerful, and i'm glad they're getting some recognition.
Literally, as a player of most of the games they have produced it's crazy how the consumable, throwing pots and perfumes are just op in the right hands.
This is awesome, I had no idea there was scaling on these. I've been using an arcane build on my second character and have been having a blast with the serpent bow as a ranged option for combat. Now that I know I can trigger effects that scale off my arcane with pots there going to be regular in my build. As always great content guys!
Yup! It’s extremely great for non-caster Arcane builds. You still get tons of ranged options. Additionally, there are the Poisoned Stone Clump which can be bought from one of the Caelid merchants. You throw a shotgun of poisoned stones which has a very high chance of poisoning if they all hit. You can keep Poisonbone Darts on you along with the bow stuff you mentioned. Great options!
pots and arrows and bolts are amazing tools if you're running a more normal build like full dex or full strength or str/dex build, it just makes things so much more manageable. arguably i feel like if you're not using consumables if you're playing a more keen/heavy/quality build you're shooting yourself in the foot making things harder than it needs to be. but with that said, farming for consumables isn't the most fun thing so i understand why you wouldn't want to put your time into it, but a lot of it you just pick up as you go anyways.
I've been curious about them since I got my first, those things are insane. As a faith / arcane build using mostly rogiers rapier, I feel they are almost mandatory vs. certain mobs. Farming crafting materals is so easy in this game, not using them is just ... missing out on save damage :D
its worth adding that Rot Pots inflict a more powerful version of Scarlet Rot, (same as the incantations and ash summons). it's almost double the damage per second compared to Scarlet Rot inflicted by weapon procs. The Fetid Pot inflicts a stronger version of Poison, called Deadly Poison, but weirdly VERY slightly weaker than Deadly Poison from the other two sources of Deadly Poison: The Serpentbone Blade and Venomous Fang weapons. The best Poison in the game is definitely the Poison Spraymist perfume, which does more damage than even regular Deadly Poison. It does more damage than basic Scarlet Rot, but still does less than the more powerful Scarlet Rot that comes from Incantations, Rot Pots and Finlay/Stray Ashes.
I recently started leveling intelligence so I am going to replace my latern item shortcut with a pot. I am trying out the oil pot since it works well with fire spells/buffs. My second (and current) playthrough I decided I wanted to do a Castlevania Belmont kind of build and I decided that throwing pots, knives, and other items fit really well (it's like the heart items) and I have actually been pretty surprised by there effectiveness.
Fun fact, there are a multitude of craft able items your mimic tear will use like those broken perfumes and pots if the are equipped in your quick slots. Combining this with the prayerful strike ash of war setting it to a neutral AR, and putting something like sleep or scarlet rot coating in your inventory, would give you a buffing, status effect applying healing mimic tear.
I wish holy was more useful like back in dark souls 1. Being able to kill skeletons just by hitting them one more time while down makes them barely a threat at all with no holy. There's the tiny rare exception of the actual ones that have a summoner but again super rare.
I’m doing a all holy dmg run and besides incantations, spells and talismans. There are quite a few powerful shields and weapons that do holy damage animations that wreck. I’ve seen some “Paladin” builds but then end up being impatient and use other spells. The rot knights scythe does a ton of dmg and is another weapon that can exploit bosses thru the yellow shield. People only have shown gravity spell spam but the rot knight holy disc spam does great dmg.
@@DisgruntledDisabledCombat_Vet I did a Paladin build, and its a blast and fairly strong, I just mean the specific holy damage against undead thing being sort of useless. It just saves you one extra hit aside from the rare exception of the necromancer ones.

After watched so many Elden Ring runs, I asked myself what is the next things people use to beat Elden Ring, and the thing pop in my mind is "Can you beat Elden Ring with only items?" And now this video pop up :D
I've come to enjoy pots and I love doing taunter ganks where I come out of mimic with piercing fang with nightrider's halberd, do half their health and spook them into a panic roll away. Which leaves me open to land a "flask negating" pot
I have this character that is a Jar build: Jar helmet, minimal clothes except bandages and that like, cestus because jarpeople use hand to hand, the jar cannon(because it’s a jar duh), the companion jar charm, double rupture tears(the soljars of fortune use self destruct as a last resort, and I have holy scorpion charm to buff this), and he spends 90% of the time throwing jars. His name is Jarzan.
Ancestor's infant head's a pretty good attack item, too. Magic elemental magma pools And another power of the pots? If they're in your hot bar, your mimic can also use them. And Beastlure pots. You know those rooms that would be easy, if only it wasn't for those damn dogs? Or rats? Throw this in a corner and they'll ignore you. I love using the pots in Elden Ring, but get kinda annoyed by the few that give you the status effect as you throw them... fetid pot, cursed blood, etc. I avoid those ones at all cost lol
100% using these on my mage build. I dont wanna raise my faith or Arcane to get the fire spells so I'm just gonna use these for specific weaknesses to certain elements.
I’m with y’all on this one. I’m not sure why more people don’t use pots. It’s literally another weapon you can use that has so equip load and you can make a infinite amount of you have the resources. Pots and darts are good I use them both on bosses I need a little extra help on
IM 130 hours into this game and only JUST NOW know that it doesn’t *consume* the pot, just the ingredients, picking up “pots” is like adding inventory slots for pots! I never made any pots because I thought I only had like 5 or 6 in the whole damn game. 😂😭😭😭
I wish the Fire Pots were a little more effect. Once you hit Mid-Game, they essentially become useless. Even in the rare instances you can use them against an enemy's weakness to fire, it's almost always better just to add Fire Damage to your weapon. It's a shame really.
Ur joking right? I have like 40 strength and 33 dex on my physical character and the fire pots do like a little over 600 damage, you can get like 1000 damage off If u combine the oil and fire pot
@@theedethproof8147 True. Or instead of switching to a consumable and going through the process of crafting it beforehand, you use a Greatsword and deal 700 damage with each strike. Late game at around 60 Strength, Dual Colossal Swords deals 1700 damage with a jump attack (this is before the recent patch which buffed them more) Pots are still a nice little bit of damage, but their usefulness drops severely.
@@theedethproof8147 If it's a non-boss enemy then perhaps. If it's a boss, then the gap will close rapidly and you're close range anyhow. If it's a tactic you like to use then that's fine, but the process of making distance, throwing the pre-crafted pots, letting it do its splash damage, then being put back in melee with the boss would've been better spent just staying in melee and getting another if not 2 extra hits in while dodging. I'm not saying they're unusable by any means. They're just not optimal... at least in my experience.
@@SharkyShocker yeah I don't know, it depends on the situation and how you wanna play I guess. I've already decided I plan on doing a litter playthrough with just pots a throwables, I think it'll be fun hah
They can actually be farmed from Cleanrot Knights in Both Caelid and the Haligtree. The drop rate is pretty low but you can farm them nonetheless, I ended up with ~250 as by-product just farming the knights for their armor and weapons
@@vonhellman yeah, it’d be kinda a neat feature if there was a really expensive/quest way to respawn all the crafting only ingredients. Not the quest specific stuff like the grave glovewart or whatever, but just the crafting stuff. But I guess that’s what NG+ is for
Honestly I do use pots time from time. However the only reason I don’t use them is because of 2 things. Accuracy and unknown status AMOUNT build up. For example. With a poison or rot arrow. I know what I’m dealing in term of status build up. With pots I don’t
Quick question does the pot helmet and charm increase the effect of the pots or just the damage like will the bleed build up faster or just increase the damage of the pot's attack
Pots should have higher scaling...for one...it's hard to find pots and you still need the helmet, talisman if you want them to be more potent...you have to have the cookbooks and the ingredients to craft. For all of that, wish they were stronger.
Can we stop saying bleed is broken? First you need to make a build for it with high arcane investment. Second this investment can really backfire when you are all bleed and the boss is immune. In pvp, I have been plenty dodged from others when using rivers of blood or mogh spear. It’s really good, but it’s not broken.. if this is a pvp thing, status elements are all powerful, I’ve seen a bunch of different videos from you guys that shows this. Death aura or carinan retaliation on shields are broken. So should everything be nerfed? No, relax and stop suggesting that normal mechanics should be nerfed even when it’s completely fair

I just saw another video on this too. This game is insane, you can even build a playstyle around items. Pot sniper new meta. :3
I don't know why it never occurred to use pots. Experimenting with pot has been a mainstay in my life since 1987.
Looking forward to someone making a Jar warrior build with the pots lol
Actually an op build
I actualy have a pot pyro build. It's very fun. Always use the companion jar tailsmon. Its ur friend.
Bleed and frost pots are especially useful to counter malenias annoying lifesteal to some extent if you don't run a status build
The counter to her lifesteal is to not get hit
Oil pots increase fire damage enemies take by 50% really good earlygame with the grease and since malenia is weak to fire that'll be a niiice boost.
Each pot has at least one ingredient that’s hard to get, could make a vid going through each of those ingredients best farming locations/methods
Interesting have to try using pots a bit!
I’ve played hundreds of hours and haven’t used pots lol they’re great!
New to the channel but you have been churning out some amazing videos in mass quantity!! Thank you for showing me what I needed in my Elden RIng
IM 130 hours into this game and only JUST NOW know that it doesn’t *consume* the pot, just the ingredients, picking up “pots” is like adding inventory slots for pots! I never made any pots because I thought I only had like 5 or 6 in the whole damn game. 😂😭😭😭
If you hit Malenia with a freeze pot as soon as she leaps in the air, you can knock her out of waterfowl dance.
@@SharkyShocker that requires u to get close to an enemy, if u need ranged they are perfectly viable.
Fyi I don’t think Trina’s lilies respawn so there’s a finite amount in a play through. It’s better to craft arrows as you get 10 per craft
They can actually be farmed from Cleanrot Knights in Both Caelid and the Haligtree. The drop rate is pretty low but you can farm them nonetheless, I ended up with ~250 as by-product just farming the knights for their armor and weapons
All of the "purple" ingredients are finite in the game, which kinda sucks if you ask me.
@@vonhellman yeah, it’d be kinda a neat feature if there was a really expensive/quest way to respawn all the crafting only ingredients. Not the quest specific stuff like the grave glovewart or whatever, but just the crafting stuff. But I guess that’s what NG+ is for
@@syrupsmiles9384 good to know! Ty
fire pots are so good
very good at dealing with Burial Watchdogs and omens
7:09 do mobs actually have stamina though?
The reacurring fire damage pot is insane
Honestly I do use pots time from time. However the only reason I don’t use them is because of 2 things. Accuracy and unknown status AMOUNT build up. For example. With a poison or rot arrow. I know what I’m dealing in term of status build up. With pots I don’t
You all should do a vid for all recipe book locations.
Drinking game: Take a shot everytime hollow says "pot"🤣
Quick question does the pot helmet and charm increase the effect of the pots or just the damage like will the bleed build up faster or just increase the damage of the pot's attack
The best part is that the mimic tear can use it.
When they use it, does it use a pot from your inventory? Or they can just spam it without having to craft more?
@@gaudyperignon89 its their own inventory, whatever you have equipped the mimic can use at its disposal and it doesn't effect your supply
@@jayt0302 Yes. I have tried rancor pots, UPLIFTING AROMATIC and GRAVITY STONE CHUNK, which are great.
I recently saw ur life-sapping Malenia build, and I was curious if you had any recommendations for an arcane Morgott build.
Can you reuse pots? I can't seem to make more pots when I run out.
On my pyromancer, I always max out as many Oil Pots as possible.
I use pots most when I'm hunting those two death birds. Makes killing them soooooo much easier.
I've been using pots from the start. I made a quality build on my first playthrough so I can't use any magic. These pots are great substitutes
I could definitely see the utility of frost and holy pots.
That’s so cool!
Please do a video on great runes and which is the best
Pots should have higher scaling...for one...it's hard to find pots and you still need the helmet, talisman if you want them to be more potent...you have to have the cookbooks and the ingredients to craft. For all of that, wish they were stronger.
Freezing Pot for Malenia and that's it, maybe sleep pots for Godskin Noble but, with normal enemies they are not worth it.
im in the early game and want that jar helm.. but i hear it will take till the end game to enjoy the helm
Good info but where are the pots located ? I have 300 hours in the game and only have 5 cracked pots. Sucks constantly having to craft them.
Holy hell, that's a lot of pots.
Can you reuse the pots tho after crafting?
Now confirmed, Hollow likes to use pot
Can we stop saying bleed is broken? First you need to make a build for it with high arcane investment. Second this investment can really backfire when you are all bleed and the boss is immune.
In pvp, I have been plenty dodged from others when using rivers of blood or mogh spear.
It’s really good, but it’s not broken.. if this is a pvp thing, status elements are all powerful, I’ve seen a bunch of different videos from you guys that shows this.
Death aura or carinan retaliation on shields are broken.
So should everything be nerfed? No, relax and stop suggesting that normal mechanics should be nerfed even when it’s completely fair
so do i get the 1 hit frost bite even without the jar helmet and companion talisman?
Which cooking book gives the frozen pot?
