I think most people overlook the EV side as a gimmick. I currently have the A3 1.0 TFSI as a company car and pay around £160 a month benefit in kind tax. On Tuesday I’m getting an upgrade to one of these and my monthly tax will drop by around £100… sure, plugging it in at night is a bit of an inconvenience but for the saving it’s a no brainier.
I'm in the exact same position as you my friend but my firm charge us extra for phev, so it's cost me about 160 a month whereas at the min for my 30 tfsi I pay 130.
@@taylorthrall7321 Hey! Huge upgrade from the 30 TFSI 1 litre I had. I actually enjoyed that pokey tiny engine but this 40 TFSI hybrid is so much better. I’d say it’s got a similar punch just on EV alone but when you want some beef and kick the petrol engine in as well it’s really quite fast. I had a Golf R previously, superb car and obviously a lot quicker but this is a brilliant compromise. Plus I get to charge it at work for free so I’ve only visited a petrol station once since getting it, still got half a tank 😂
@@slippytoe do you do many motorway miles at all? I do a mix or city driving and motorway driving and trying to work out if I'd be better off playing it safe and getting the 1.0 30 TFSI. I do about 200 miles a week and currently spending £25 - £30 on petrol... What do u reckon
I just checked the difference on the BiK for a 45k salary it’s around £30 per month for the change in 17” to 18”. Just not sure how this will look with smaller wheels.
Beautiful review and beautiful Audi. Congratulations Shahzad. This A3 has a nice design, especially in the rear wheel arches. The 18" wheels are beautiful and the interior is also beautiful and comfortable. I was not convinced by the battery charging system for the electric only mode. You said the charging cables are in the bag in the trunk. Maybe those cables were broken. Or maybe the charging station where you stopped had run out of electricity. I'm kidding. Great review. Has anyone used this car on a motorway? If so how does it perform. I currently have a 30 tfsi and they gets above 60 mpg on most motorways. Is the engine quite economical? Is it better overall on fuel compared to the 30 tfsi?
I usually get just over half the ev miles after fully charged. Cars 8 months old 2,800 miles I also am down to 24 miles on a full charge, does that sound right? Thanks
Yeah I think real world is generally significantly lower than claimed numbers. Though half would worry me on a newish car. I think getting around two-thirds of claim miles is a given.
@@BrownCarGuy I agree but what is a bit more worrying is full charge down from 41 to 24 in 11 months. If that was projected for the next 11 months I’d be down to 8 miles.However they’ve agreed to check it out so we’ll see.
★ WHY would anyone want to manually control the EV vs Petrol management system???????? Surely the car is meant to manage it all for you? It adds no fun, no extra mileage and no extra power!
@@BrownCarGuy it depends completely on distance between charges. one mpg figure to cover all situations is meaningless for phev's. could be infinity if you drive 20 miles a day on ev only mode and charge the battery every night. it could be 10mpg if you never charge the battery and drive like a lunatic.
@@BrownCarGuy oh. it seems you already knew that. if so i'm confused as to why you declare audi the "misleading" ones in your response above. i would have expected a more complete response since you seem to understand the discrepancy. educate the commenter maybe. say the discrepancy is so big because you did more miles between charges. vital info for someone so clearly confused in the comments section. actually i can't recall you mentioning that in the video either. maybe you did but i don't recall it. i do recall you comparing 45/284 but not sure if you told us how many times you charged the battery to give that 45 number perspective.
