Hi Sir, this is the best video I have seen online for Paris Metro Usage on TH-cam. Thanks a lot. Just want to ask, can I take my passport size Photo (like I gave for France Visa) at the airport and get my Navigo Decouverte Pass by Paying 5 Euros or is it mandatory to get the mentioned photo from the booth at airport? Also, can this pass be used to commute from CDG Terminal 2 to Wagram Station and back?
Thanks a lot! You can use a photo that you will have brought with you. And yes, then you can use the Navigo Découverte weekly pass to reach your hotel via the RER B an metro.
I have my Navigo Découverte from my last trip to Paris so the next time I am there, I just need to reload the amount. It was so convenient to use on unlimited metro rides. I love riding metro in Paris!
If you want to support me, a like or a comment, or share on this video would really be appreciated. ▶ Want to buy me a coffee? www.buymeacoffee.com/paristoptips
Thank you for the video. I find that every time you speak the volume is lower because the music cuts out but then as soon as you stop talking the music jumps back in and the volume gets loud again. I find it quite distracting but maybe it’s just me.
Excellent video, thank you. What a strange Weekly Pass system which must put many people off buying it - including me and my group of three who will be there from Friday to Monday. Is it deliberately meant to be restrictive to encourage more people to buy the more expensive options? I hope Paris eventually introduces a contactless card system (like London) which makes life so much easier and flexible.
Thank you for this video! We are a family of 4 planning a week-long trip to Paris next Spring - landing on a Saturday evening. Based on your excellent advice and videos my current plan is to take a taxi (or uber/bolt) from CDG to our Airbnb in Montmartre. Use Sunday to walk around and explore on foot and then on Monday purchase the Navigo card + weekly pass (5 euros for the card + 30 euros for the weekly pass for each one of us). I will bring passport sized pictures of all of us. I am understanding correctly that I cannot purchase the Navigo weekly pass on Saturday or Sunday and wait until Monday to use it. I can only purchase it on Monday?
I think this is a great plan! Taxi from the airport to Montmartre will be 55€. But, yes, you can purchase the weekly pass on Saturday, then start using it on Monday. If you have not watched it yet, I have a video on a stroll in Montmartre... 🙂
Thank you for your tips. How do you validate a Metro ticket or Navigo Pass after you buy them? We will be getting the Navigo Easy since we are there from Saturday to Thursday. Thank you again.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. So, if I correctly understood, the Navigo contactless cards are NOT sold by vending machines, but in person at certain stations? Is there any map on what stations they can be bought? Cheers!
Normally, every station has a service desk for that. But beware, not all metro entrances will lead you to these service desks. Sometimes you will have to find the right entrance...
@@paristoptips yes I did. So I have a question about whether the Navigo card can be used on the Montmartre Funiculaire based on the comment section of that video.
So we are arriving in Paris on Friday, then from the following Monday to Friday, we are going to Disneyland, Palace of Versailles, exploring central paris and using the train to get back to CDG airport, correct me if I am wrong, but the navigo decouverte weekly pass would cover those trips? Would it be best just to buy cardboard tickets from fri-sun for exploring central paris instead of buying a separate navigo easy pass? Thank you so much for creating such a helpful and informative video!!
It's really complicated to answer, as it depends really on what you want to do and where you want to go. If you stay inside Paris, then before you reach the 30+5€ of a Navigo Découverte card + weekly pass, you will have spent 19 t+ tickets on a Navigo Easy card, or 5 per day.
@@paristoptips I would like to know your recommendation, as I’ll be going there for the same time as this soon. I will be staying in central Paris, arriving be Eurostar.
Great video! We are coming on a Monday very early and staying till Friday . The weekly pass is definitely the way to go, but if you can only buy it at a ticket office, would they be open at 06:30 in the morning when our plane lands at CDG?
Hi Sir, thanks for the very informative video. We will be visiting Paris from Sunday to Tuesday. Would you recommend buying both Navigo easy (Sunday) and Decouverte (Monday & Tuesday)? Or would you recommend Navigo Easy all the way. We are planning to visit just the tourist sites in Zone 1-2 and Orly Bus (Orly Airport) on the last day
Hi Sir! Congratulations for the videos, it's very informative. So, i'm going to paris next month, i'll stay there from tuesday to tuesday. But I'm staying in Versailles, which pass do you recommend?
Thanks! For the first week, Tuesday to Sunday, definitely the Navigo Découverte card + weekly pass. Then for the Monday + Tuesday it really depends what you wan to do. A Versailles Paris return ticket is around 9 €, and then tickets in Paris will be 2€10. And it also depends if you want to go to the airport by public transport...
Bonjour. Your video is beyond the best in information. I’ll be in for the entire week landing Monday morning. Can the Navigo Découvert be used that same day Monday and the rest of the week?
Thank you for explaining the passes so well! I will be visiting Paris for 4 days but staying in Vincennes. The Navigo Easy pass sounds like the best option for me, except it seems like the Navigo Easy pass doesn’t allow me to buy the booklet of 10 discounted ticket for traveling outside of zone 1 (I believe Vincennes is zone 2). Do you have any recommendations for me? By the way, I will be flying into Orly airport
I arrived at Gare Du Nord today .I went to the ticket Machine and bought a Navigo Easy Card from the machine with a Carnet included for 18.90 . I then went to another machine to buy my RER ticket to Le Bourget, Very easy . The 2 Main ticket offices there were shut .
Hello, I apreciate your video so much, ¿which ticket is better and cheaper? We are Two people, visiting París, friday to friday 😅 And I already had a Navigo pass
It's tricky, because you are starting on a Friday. And I don't know if you start from CDG. I would stay only inside Paris with cardboard tickets until Sunday, then, and only if you want to go to Versailles or Disney or anywhere outside Paris, I'd put a Navigo weekly on my Navigo Découverte card.
Thanks a lot! The two passes (Discovery - €5 - and Easy - €2) can be purchased at a ticket office, as is found in practically all stations. You can also use your Android smartphone, as you can see in the new video I put on TH-cam today!
Hello, Thank you very much for the video. Quick question, we will be going on Wednesday and returning back on Sunday We will get off at CDG airport and then go to zone 2. Next day we will visit disneyland. On saturday, we will travel back from zone 2 to cdg airport. I think the weekly pass will work best in this case. Will that pass work from airport to city and then city to airport as well?
Yes, kids 4 and above need the weekly card. Except if you have it on your Android phone, you have to purchase it at a service desk, it can't be bought at a vending machine the first time as you need to get a physical card that machines can't deliver.
Thank you for the updated video! We are arriving on Thurs and Leaving Mon. Staying in City with a trip to Versailles one day. Which is better option in your opinion? Taking a car from CDG to hotel.
Which is the best option to use since Friday to Monday? The Navi go easy? Do I have limited days to use all ticket I bought? That does not include the orly bus and Versailles, right?
The t+ticket that you can use on The Navigo Easy card can be used in all metros in zone 1 & 2. Also in bus in different zones. You can use it on the RER, only inside Paris. For example, if you go to La Défense, you can go with a t+ ticket on your Navigo Pass with metro line 1, but not with the RER A.
Thank you for the clip. If I travel 4 days (Wednesday - Saturday) using metro from CDG airport to Paris city and going to Versailles round trip, Navigo decouverte pass will be best and cheapest option, isn't it?
It depends if you are using transport to go back to CDG, and how many times you'll use the metro inside Paris. Versailles round trip is 8,10€. A CDG ticket is 11,45€, round trip: 22,90€. So if you have a round trip to both CDG and Versailles - total cost: 31€ - then only 3 T+tickets more and you are over 35€....
excellent video.clear and informative; we are in Paris from Sunday to Saturday. I think the Navajo Decouverte will be a good choice. If I understand it correctly, I can purchase it on Sunday for the following week. starting on Monday? Can we purchase this at the airport on arrival on Sunday, knowing that we will buy a separate ticket for RER on Sunday to get into the city?
Thanks Yes, you can buy in the airport office both a RER ticket and the Navigo card (don't forget a photo) and the weekly pass to put on it that will start the next day...
Hello. My friend and I are planning to travel to Paris from Wednesday to Sunday morning. Which ticket is better and cheaper for both tram and bus for all areas of Paris?
Thanks for your great video, very helpful. I have plan of 2 days in Paris. My hotel is located in Nanterre (zone 3). I intend to by 1 Day-pass zone 1-3 for the first day and zone 1-4 for the second day with a visit to Chateau Versailles. Could you advise how I can buy such 2 Day-pass? Do I need to buy Navigo Easy Card? Merci!
You can purchase those 1-day passes on a Navigo Easy card, or you can purchase Mobilis tickets for 1 day on zones 1-3 (11€30) and the other day on zone 1-4 (14€) from any ticket machine.
thank u for this video. i'm planning for visiting paris just 3 days for 2 persons. whats the best card for us for visiting some places in Paris ? is it T+ card or navigo easy for one day ? can u give me an advice. thx.
If you plan to use more than 8 tickets, then the easy card is a better solution. Under this, cardboard tickets will be more interesting because you won't have to pay the navigo easy card. Also, a Navigo easy card can be used by only one person at a given time.
Hello Brother, I will be arriving in paris with my wife for a single day by Flixbus at Bercy Seine...And planning to visit the main 6-7 attractions at the centre only.. So which will be my better option..To load a 8.45 daily pass onto my mobile or buy a physical 8.45 mobilis ticket.. And by the way cheers and thanks for all the hardwork you put into these videos...
Hi this is a great video.....on the website it says that the navigo weekly ticket is available to purchase from friday for the following week ??? Then why are u saying until Thursday sorry if i missed completely!!!...coz we will land on sun ans was planning to buy weekly pass to use from mon to sun for our stay nd we are planning to go to Disney
For a week starting on Monday, you can purchase the weekly pass from the Friday before the week, until the Thursday evening of the week. Then, on the Friday, you can only buy for the next week. If you land on Sunday, the pass you wine able to buy will only be valid from the Monday. So for your day of arrival, you will need extra tickets. Is this clear?
@@paristoptips thank you for your instant response.... really appreciate.....I think I am confused 😕....If we land on a Sunday I should be able to buy the pass for the coming week ??? Isn't it
When you buy the decouverte card, must you load it first? We will be seeing areas outside of Paris first, and then returning to Paris the following Monday. If I am following the process, it would be too early to get the weekly pass for our time in Paris. I am wondering because we'd be at the airport and so theoretically could get it there, then fill it at any machine on the Monday that we return?
Hello Sir, Thank you so much for the informative video. I'll in Paris from Monday to Thursday in which I'll be traveling to Versailles and Disneyland. Which card will be the best option for me ?
Thanks for your awesome videos! We (4) will arrive at CDG airport on Sunday morning and we plan to take taxi to our hotel. The last 2 trips in Paris I used Navigo Decouverte cards and found it to be convenient and cheapest way but this trip we won’t be able to use the cards on Sunday so we will have to buy tickets as needed on Sunday. We only have 2 full days (Monday and Tuesday) in Paris. Our hotel is in zone 2 and we plan to go to Versailles. Your thoughts?
If you can take RER, meaning you don't have too much luggage, then RER would be the best solution, as it might take a lot of time in taxi and be very expensive.
RER ticket for Sunday, then a Navigo Easy card, or t+ticketson your phone if you have an Android phone or just cardboard tickets, depending on how many times you'll use the metro and RER in zones 1 & 2. For Versailles, RER B to Denfert-Rochereau, metro line 6 to Montparnasse and train to Versailles Chantier. Should not cost more than 5€.
Can I take the Orlybus with Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass? I will arrive at Orly airport on Sunday afternoon. So what is the best way to get to the center of Paris? If I take the Orlybus I have to pay because I can't use the Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass which I will buy but will use from the following Monday. When I return on Friday I can instead use the Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass to take the Orlybus and go to the airport. Right? A thousand thanks.
Hi, we are in Paris Sunday-Thursday, want to use the Metro locally but also day trips to Disney & Versailles. The Decouverte is the best option, can I buy that on Sunday for use starting Monday? What about using passport photos from the US (size wise)? If that is problematic, can I put roundtrip tickets for Versailles on a Navigo Easy card, or do I have to but those separately? Many thanks.
Thanks for that information. That's the way I want to go, but if we say forget the pictures, can I put roundtrip tickets for Versailles on a Navigo Easy card? I've seen ambiguous information about this. Cheers@@paristoptips
You can't put a specific destination ticket on Navigo Easy... But you can put a Navigo day card on it for the number of zones you want. Zones 1 to 4 is 14€ for one day, unlimited travel: a cardboard return ticket to Versailles in zone 4 is around 9€, so cheaper than the day pass.
Hi, we were able to buy the Decouverte quite easily at CDG after our flight landed. A bit of a walk to the office but no line, in/out in 5 min. We photocopied our US drivers license and it was the perfect size as the picture. We bought it on a Sunday for use starting the next day. Used the metro quite a bit, went to Disneyland, even used it on the funicular! Easy peasey! Thanks again.
Thank you for the informative video. May I ask if I can load 2 types of tickets on my Navigo smartphone? 10 single tickets and a one day ticket. Use a few single tickets on Friday and use day pass on Saturday and then use the remaining single tickets on Sunday. Is this possible?
For the moment, tickets on smartphones only work with Android smartphones with NFC activated. In this case, if a Navigo Day pass and t+ Tickets coexist on your phone, on the day of validity of the Navigo Day pass, only the pass is used.
Hello Sir, very informative video We have a rather long question and Request you to help us with the same: We bought 2 navigo decouverte weekly passes in Aug 2019 during our 1st visit to Paris & were told the cards are valid for 10yrs & the cards can be renewed when we are in Paris. Now, We are visiting Paris again this September just for 4days & we are arriving on a Thursday evening. Could you please advise on the following: 1. Should we renew the weekly pass OR is there a better option considering that Except for 1 journey on a RER train from CDG to gare du nord, we will mostly be using metros & the bus between zones 1 to 3 for 3 days (We are looking for convenience, not so much for cost saving) 2. If yes, Can we renew this weekly pass Online? Since we purchased the navigo weekly passes at a metro station so we did not create an online account on SNCF site, so how do we renew these cards. Thank you in advance. 😊
Thanks for the appreciative comment. You say you will commute from zone 1 to zone 3. Is this using metro (some of them go to zone 3) or bus or do you have to take the RER or a train? If so, then Navigo découverte would be useful, as the price from zone 1 to zone 3 by train is 3€10. And if you have to combine metro + bus, then it's 2 t+ tickets each way. You have to count how many times in total in these 4 days you would need a t+ ticket, add this up and add the train from CDG price, and then compare to the 30€ of a Navigo Découverte weekly pass. That is if you can purchase it on the Thursday, because from Friday it would be for the following week. You can purchase it online, though it's a tad complicated if you have an NFC compatible phone. More info here: www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en/tickets-fares/media/smartphone
Is the Orly train the only exception for the navigo decouverte pass? I saw on the IDF app it doesn’t cover tourist trains and direct trains to airport but I’m not sure what that means.
Yes it covers everything regional except Orlyval and private busses like the ones that go to Disneyland from the airports. The direct trains to the airport do not exist yet: in 2025, and they'll be too expensive to be covered by the Navigo pass
Hi, please tell me is it possible to buy this pass navigo (weekly) in Charles de Gaulle airport ? If not what is the cheapest way to get to gare du Nord ?
@@paristoptips thank you. I hope i will find it because a lot of people said that the only cheapest way to get to gare du Nord is to buy that ticket who costs 10.30 euros. which is too expensive for me for one trip. Thanks again
Hello, thank you so much for your very informative video :D What would you recommend a family of 4 going to Paris to see the typical attractions (Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Louvre etc.) for 5 days? We thought of buying the Navigo Easy with 'Single-journey ticket' and chose the '10 booklets'. However, can you use the 10 booklets in all zones? Also, does the same rule apply to the '10 booklets' as the cardboard tickets? Do the 10 booklets only permit metro-to-metro or RER-to-RER or metro-RER?
If you stay only in Paris (no Versailles, no Disneyland), then a Navigo Easy with 10 t+ tickets is the cheapest solution. You can use the t+ tickets in all metros, in all busses (except OrlyBus and RoissyBus), in the RER in Paris, and transfer metro to metro and metro to RER (in Paris) and bus to bus and tramways. Yes, the virtual t+ ticket that you have on the Navigo Easy is the exact same ticket as the cardboard t+ ticket. If you want to take the train or the RER outside of Paris, then you will have to buy a "destination" cardboard ticket.
@@paristoptips Thank you for your reply! :D Do the 10 t+ tickets have zone restrictions, for example only zone 1-3? Or can I travel to every zone? Also, are there any restrictions for how many times I can switch between transportation methods? For example, is it possible to take metro --> metro --> metro?
You can switch as many times as you want in 2 hours. T+tickets don't have any zone restrictions in metro, bus or tramway, but they are limited to zone 1 on RER and trains
If I want the Navigo weekly pass, then it sounds like I have to buy the Navigo Decouverte card and not a Navigo Easy card? I am traveling with a family and like the sound of the Navigo weekly pass but would rather not bring 4 photos with me. So Navigo Easy only allows for loading of individual t+ (single-ride) tickets?
Bonjour monsieur. My husband and I are going to be in Paris from Wednesday to Saturday. We are going to visit the Paris attractions and also La Valle Village. If we buy the navigo easy pass, will we need to buy separate ticket to get to La Valle Village?
Hello again. Do you think the navigo Decouverte is better for us? We will stay frm Wednesday-Saturday. Planning to go to Paris attractions and La Valle Village. And we will be staying at zone 3
Another question - The Navigo Liberte Card allows you to make 5 journeys @ 1.69 and then it will only charge you a one day pass price of 5 tickets or 8.45E. Does the Navigo easy pass allow the same ? (During the same day, you can be charged up to a maximum of €8.45 (price of the navigo day 2 zones). Beyond that, your trips are free .)
No. With the Navigo Easy, every trip will be paid 1€69, whatever the number per day. But: 1. Navigo Liberté+ is only available on the Navigo Card at 5€ (vs. 2 € for the Navigo Easy) 2. You must provide your bank details to subscribe to Liberté+, which seems complicated for occasional visitors to Paris, hence the reason why I never talk about it.
Can one purchase a Navigo Découverte Travel Card and then utilize their smartphone, rather than the card itself for travel? I see references to using the smartphone app, but can't tell if that's just to purchase/refill new passes, or to actually use your mobile phone in lieu of the Travel Card. Thanks!
When I buy a Navigo Decourverte card from an attendant at a booth, can I ask him or her to add a weekly pass? Or do I have to go to a machine to add a weekly pass myself?
hello sir, we'll be visiting paris from sunday to tuesday , and a big group of 9 travelling , coming from airport and going to disneyland , also a few sightseening will be done in zone1 , what will you recommend a navigo easy or decouverte or t+ for us ?
Navigo Easy or just cardboad tickets. Navigo Découverte would just start on Monday, and two days is not enough to make it worthwhile. Navigo Easy is interesting if you use at least 8 tickets per person.
Navigo Découverte and Navigo Easy are physical cards that you can only purchase on premises. There is an app, but it would only help adding weekly pass on a physical card...
If we want to get from CDG airport by RER B to Gare du Nord and after that take the Metro 4 to Porte de Clignancourt, do we need two tickets (one for RER and then a t+ for Metro within zone 1 & 2) or is there a single ticket that covers the entire route? We're staying from FR 21st of July until TUE 25th of July and are planning on only buying tickets to get from CDG to the hotel and back
As per the Ile de France Mobilités website (www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en/tickets-fares/detail/orlybus-and-roissybus-tickets): From / to Roissy CDG : Roissy by RER B ("Origin-Destination" ticket Roissy CDG - Paris), including a metro, train, RER connection in Paris. So yes, you can use the same ticket to take metro 4 to Porte de Clignancourt.
Bonjour Do gare de Lyon railway station sales this NAVIGO pass ?What is the timing of the same ? Is luggage store rooms available at gare de Lyon railway station ? What is the timing of the same ? Merci
Yes, in Gare de Lyon you will be able to buy a Navigo Pass, either on the SNCF/ground level at Transilien service booths, opened from 7 AM to 8:30 PM, or on the RATP/underground level at the RATP service booths, opened from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM on weekdays and 1 PM to 7 PM on Saturdays. And, yes, you have a luggage storage room at Gare de Lyon, in Hall 3, below platform N. Open from 6:15 AM to 10 PM. www.garedelyon.fr/guide-gare/consignes-bagages-automatiques/
QUESTION: Will the kiosk take a photo of me for the Navigo Decouverte card, or do I already have to have a photo of the correct size with me? Also, is there a good place inside or near Metro stations where I can get the correct size photo made?
NO, the serice booth is not made to take photos. But, very frequently, just neer the service booth there is what French people call a "Photomaton", an automatic photo booth where you'll be able to get photos. Also, I've made a 2024 version of this video, and you can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/anqsW0tiI1g/w-d-xo.html
@paristoptips That's great to know, merci! I think my wife and I will probably get Navigo Découverte when we arrive at CDG. Nous allons à Disneyland et au Château de Versailles.
Hello Sir, This video was really useful! I would like to confirm, We'll be coming to CDG on Thursday around 8 pm and will be leaving on Monday after visiting Versailles, Disneyland and other major tourist spots. Is Navigo Decouverte our best option? Thank you so much!
If you are able to access the ticket selling shop on Thursday ( it closes at 10 PM), then Navigo Découverte will be the best solution. But you'll have to pay for another ticket to the airport on Monday, as Navigo Découverte weekly only goes up to Sunday.
Great! My bad, we're going to Switzerland on Tuesday. So should I buy one day pass/ booklet of 10 tickets for Monday? We'll be mostly in zone 1 and 3 ( We're staying in Clichy)
@@aayushichhatre7137 Metro line 13 in Clichy is considered zone 2, so, fine with standard t+tickets. A one day zone 1 & 2 unlimited pass on Navigo Easy costs 8€50. Maybe a good option for the Monday.
@@paristoptips Thank you so much! This was really helpful. Thursday - Sunday: Navigo Decouverte (All zones) Monday: Navigo Easy! A big thumbs up to you!👍🙏
Hello! I was researching about the Navigo Decouverte. Can we buy it online through an app or can it be just recharged through it? Thanks for the responses. :)
No more “carnets” of yellow tickets or Cartes Oranges? I still have my Carte Orange from when I spent 3 months in Paris in 1984. I guess it won’t get me very far these days. 😉
You can't buy the Navigo Découverte on a vending machine. You have to go to a counter. The thing is 2-fold: one plastic card, credit card sized, where you write your name and you place your photo, and then a plastic sticky on the inner face, that will wrap the card. Am I clear enough?
Hi there, good video. I will also be arriving at Gare de Lyon on a Thursday going to 10th arrondissement. Will metro/bus that day to Saturday in Paris center. Will go to CDG on Sunday. Will the Navigo decouverte be the best option? Thanks!
Navigo Découverte price is 30€ for the week plus 5 € for the card, plus price of the photo, so 35€+. Going to the airport is 11€45. Which means, that Navigo Découverte would be interesting only if you spend more than 35-11€45=23€55 in t+ tickets, which means more than 12 T+ tickets, in 3 days. It seems a lot to me, but then, I don't know what you will do....
Thanks for your reply. On my last day, I will come from La Fourche metro station going to CDG. Per google (time of arrival in CDG considered) I will bus to Gare du Nord then take RER B. Will my fare be €2.10+€11.45?
Some vending machines accept only credit cards, others take coins and then, a few ones would take credit cards, coins and banknotes. At the vending booths, they take cash.
Hello, So it is not possible to buy a carnet of 10 cardboard tickets from the machines? If I need to buy the easy pass for 2E then I must go to a ticket office ? Maybe I will wait Until I go to RER at Le Bourget and it will be quieter? Less People.
You can buy 10 cardboard tickets at are machine, butt you will not get any price advantage, then. There are ticket offices on all metro and RER stations.

Kindly guide me on this.thaanks for your most informative vedios . jatinkumar desai
When it comes to the price difference, it's not so much. Yet, if the Navigo weekly pass solution is a little bit cheaper it will be much more convenient.
I will be in paris from Saturday to to Friday. 7 days. We will have 1 trip to Fontainbleu. Whats the best option for me? We are a group of 5 people. 2 adults and 3 children.
Tickets for Saturday and Sunday, then a Navigo Découverte card for each for Monday to Friday. Children under 4 travel for free, and from 4 to 9, they can have 50% reduced price on t+ tickets
As March 2023, on Navigo Weekly pass page, it sad “Sale begin on the Friday preceding the week of validity, and end on the Thursday of the week for which they are valid”. Does it mean you purchase at Friday, BUT you can ONLY start use it at valid week (like coming week Monday to Sunday!?), and not the same-day you purchase at?
We made the mistake of downloading the SNCF app on our phones. it is a terrible system. It sounds like a great idea since you don't have to buy a separate card and just reload tickets on your phone. However in actual use the phones rarely work at the ticket scanners. You must have an internet connection and your NFC turned on your phone. Even after all that is active the scanners still doesn't work consistently. I will go to one scanner and it will reject me. Then I instantly go to another scanner and it will accept me. WTF??? There are other times when I have many electronic tickets remaining on my phone and the scanners will reject me. I have to stop my NFC and restart on my phone then it will accept me. WTF??? If I knew this at the start I would have just bought the Navigo card from the beginning. So do yourself a favor and don't use the phone app.
Thanks for this very interesting feedback... What app are you talking about, SNCF Connect or IDF Mobilités? I use the second one and never had any issue...
Even with Navigo sometimes the scanner also reject me. I experienced this 3 times. I already topped up my navigo and it still didnt work untill other people help me with their card.
It depends on what you want to do and when you start your week. The Navigo weekly pass is only available from Monday to Sunday. And if you intend to use less than 18 times and only inside Paris, the Navigo Easy pass is a better priced solution.
COMPLICATED system; why not just load the card with money and pay a cheaper trip, like ALL other cities? A card loaded onto a card....... WHAT A PARLAVER
@@paristoptips So you do need to have some physical copy of a photo with you. Cut in the recommended size.

Thank you Sir. You've been very helpful.
Glad to hear it!
Well explained. Informative video.
Glad you liked it!
In fact, as often in France, it is conceptualized by civil servants who have no sense of customer service.😂
Hello, very useful! Does the Navigo Easy pass work on RER, Metro, bus and tram? Or only metro??
Yes, on all of these...
It's already valid. You just have to use it on the ticket doors in any station.
Thank you. Different from Italy validation.
That was really useful and I'm so much wiser now. Allez!!!
If so, then: result achieved!
I'm really happy about it!
Hi thank you for the info. I am landing on a tuesday. Can I buy the weekly pass still n be able to use it tuesday onwards ?
Yes, absolutely...
😊thanks for sharing, it is very useful for me.
Glad to hear that.

You got it all right: cardboard tickets until Sunday evening, and then Navigo Weekly on a Navigo Découverte card for the next 5 days.
Very informative !! Thank you . What is the best option for 3 nights and 4 days ?
The office is open from 6:00 AM to 10:45 PM.
It will be OK for you 🙂
Hi Sir, thanks for the very informative video. We will be visiting Paris from Sunday to Tuesday. Would you recommend buying both Navigo easy (Sunday) and Decouverte (Monday & Tuesday)? Or would you recommend Navigo Easy all the way.
We are planning to visit just the tourist sites in Zone 1-2 and Orly Bus (Orly Airport) on the last day
For you, Navigo Easy is the solution, cheaper than Navigo Découverte.
Thanks so much!
Yes, it will work perfectly for you. Don't forget to bring a photo of you.
I wish you a great stay!
Very useful, thanks !!
You're welcome!
Vincennes is in zone 2 and metro tickets are available for zones 1 & 2, so no problem !

And I already had a Navigo pass
It's tricky, because you are starting on a Friday.
And I don't know if you start from CDG.
I would stay only inside Paris with cardboard tickets until Sunday, then, and only if you want to go to Versailles or Disney or anywhere outside Paris, I'd put a Navigo weekly on my Navigo Découverte card.
Hello, Thank you very much for the video. Quick question, we will be going on Wednesday and returning back on Sunday
We will get off at CDG airport and then go to zone 2. Next day we will visit disneyland.
On saturday, we will travel back from zone 2 to cdg airport.
I think the weekly pass will work best in this case.
Will that pass work from airport to city and then city to airport as well?
Yes, it will. Best choice...

Does kids also need the weekly card? any discount?
Do we need to buy it at any centre or a vending machine ?
Yes, kids 4 and above need the weekly card. Except if you have it on your Android phone, you have to purchase it at a service desk, it can't be bought at a vending machine the first time as you need to get a physical card that machines can't deliver.
Thank you for the updated video! We are arriving on Thurs and Leaving Mon. Staying in City with a trip to Versailles one day. Which is better option in your opinion? Taking a car from CDG to hotel.
Navigo Découverte is not a good option for you. I would go for Navigo Easy...
Merci!!
Avec plaisir !🙏
Which is the best option to use since Friday to Monday? The Navi go easy? Do I have limited days to use all ticket I bought? That does not include the orly bus and Versailles, right?
T+ Tickets on a Navigo Easy are available endlessly. You can also add, from a vending machine, an Orlybus or Roissybus ticket on a Navigo Easy card.
Hello and thank you for this video. In what zones can you use the Navigo Easy and can you use the RER?
The t+ticket that you can use on The Navigo Easy card can be used in all metros in zone 1 & 2. Also in bus in different zones.
You can use it on the RER, only inside Paris. For example, if you go to La Défense, you can go with a t+ ticket on your Navigo Pass with metro line 1, but not with the RER A.
OK thank you. And can I use the Navigo Easy to go, for example, from La Defense back to central Paris?
Sorry, I answered with my other account name 😁
Yes, with metro line 1
Merci pour votre aide!

If you plan to use more than 8 tickets, then the easy card is a better solution. Under this, cardboard tickets will be more interesting because you won't have to pay the navigo easy card. Also, a Navigo easy card can be used by only one person at a given time.

Isn't it
A Decouverte card is a plastic card or a paper card? How do they attach my photo on it?
It's a plastic card with a plastic sticky overlap that you put in front of the picture.
You can absolutely buy a card without loading it.
You can also load a week a few days in advance...
Hello Sir,
Thank you so much for the informative video. I'll in Paris from Monday to Thursday in which I'll be traveling to Versailles and Disneyland. Which card will be the best option for me ?
Definitely, the Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass!
Is it available for only 4 days or it will be for a week ?
Weekly pass at 30€ is much cheaper than buying 4 times 1 day pass at 20€
Could I get this card at porte de vanves Metro station ?
You can get it in any station...
Our hotel is near Laplace, would it be convenient to take RER from CDG to Laplace instead of taking taxi?
If you can take RER, meaning you don't have too much luggage, then RER would be the best solution, as it might take a lot of time in taxi and be very expensive.
RER ticket for Sunday, then a Navigo Easy card, or t+ticketson your phone if you have an Android phone or just cardboard tickets, depending on how many times you'll use the metro and RER in zones 1 & 2. For Versailles, RER B to Denfert-Rochereau, metro line 6 to Montparnasse and train to Versailles Chantier. Should not cost more than 5€.
Thank you 🙏🏻
From CDG to Arcueil (zone 2) via RER, do we have to deal with carrying luggages up and down stairs? If so, do they have escalators or elevators?
Can I take the Orlybus with Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass? I will arrive at Orly airport on Sunday afternoon. So what is the best way to get to the center of Paris? If I take the Orlybus I have to pay because I can't use the Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass which I will buy but will use from the following Monday. When I return on Friday I can instead use the Navigo Découverte Weekly Pass to take the Orlybus and go to the airport. Right? A thousand thanks.
Yes, you can take the Orlybus with a Navigo découverte weekly pass
Hi, we are in Paris Sunday-Thursday, want to use the Metro locally but also day trips to Disney & Versailles. The Decouverte is the best option, can I buy that on Sunday for use starting Monday? What about using passport photos from the US (size wise)? If that is problematic, can I put roundtrip tickets for Versailles on a Navigo Easy card, or do I have to but those separately? Many thanks.
Yes Découverte is the best choice and you will be able to purchase it on Sunday and start using it on Monday. US passport photos should be OK.
Thanks for the help.@@paristoptips

Is the train to FountaineBlu part of the Paris region covered by the passes?
Fontainebleau is in zone 5, on the SNCF line R, from Gare de Lyon station. So, yes, the 30€ weekly pass covers it.
Could you please advise on the following:
1. Should we renew the weekly pass OR is there a better option considering that Except for 1 journey on a RER train from CDG to gare du nord, we will mostly be using metros & the bus between zones 1 to 3 for 3 days (We are looking for convenience, not so much for cost saving)

Hello, thank you so much for your very informative video :D
What would you recommend a family of 4 going to Paris to see the typical attractions (Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Louvre etc.) for 5 days?
Do the 10 t+ tickets have zone restrictions, for example only zone 1-3?
On Navigo Easy, you can load t+ tickets, Navigo day cards and Roissybus tickets.
Nothing for a week...
Bonjour monsieur. My husband and I are going to be in Paris from Wednesday to Saturday. We are going to visit the Paris attractions and also La Valle Village. If we buy the navigo easy pass, will we need to buy separate ticket to get to La Valle Village?

@@paristoptips thank you😊
Hello again. Do you think the navigo Decouverte is better for us? We will stay frm Wednesday-Saturday. Planning to go to Paris attractions and La Valle Village. And we will be staying at zone 3
Yes, definitely if you stay in zone 3.
30€ + 5€ for the card for unlimited travel, that should normally be your best solution
@@paristoptips merci boucoup. Thank u so much for your reply.
But:
1. Navigo Liberté+ is only available on the Navigo Card at 5€ (vs. 2 € for the Navigo Easy)

Thanks!
Unfortunately, no!

Navigo Easy or just cardboad tickets. Navigo Découverte would just start on Monday, and two days is not enough to make it worthwhile.
Navigo Easy is interesting if you use at least 8 tickets per person.

Yes, exactly!

If we want to get from CDG airport by RER B to Gare du Nord and after that take the Metro 4 to Porte de Clignancourt, do we need two tickets (one for RER and then a t+ for Metro within zone 1 & 2) or is there a single ticket that covers the entire route? We're staying from FR 21st of July until TUE 25th of July and are planning on only buying tickets to get from CDG to the hotel and back
As per the Ile de France Mobilités website (www.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en/tickets-fares/detail/orlybus-and-roissybus-tickets):
From / to Roissy CDG :
Roissy by RER B ("Origin-Destination" ticket Roissy CDG - Paris), including a metro, train, RER connection in Paris.
So yes, you can use the same ticket to take metro 4 to Porte de Clignancourt.
@@paristoptips Wow, you're really quick! Thank you so much!
My pleasure!
Can you use take the roissy bus with the Navigo Découverte pass?
Yes you can
@@paristoptips thank you so much!

Bonjour
Do gare de Lyon railway station sales this NAVIGO pass ?What is the timing of the same ?

@@paristoptips Merci beaucoup! I'm going to Paris soon, and your videos are helping a lot!
I was at CDG Terminal 2 today, and near the Navigo service desk, there are 2 of those "photomatons".
@paristoptips That's great to know, merci! I think my wife and I will probably get Navigo Découverte when we arrive at CDG. Nous allons à Disneyland et au Château de Versailles.
Hello Sir,
This video was really useful! I would like to confirm,
We'll be coming to CDG on Thursday around 8 pm and will be leaving on Monday after visiting Versailles, Disneyland and other major tourist spots.
@@paristoptips
Thank you so much!
This was really helpful.
Thursday - Sunday: Navigo Decouverte (All zones)
Monday: Navigo Easy!
The Carte Orange was discontinued in 2009, and I don't think the yellow tickets would still work.
Times are changing 😁
hello, how to attach the photo to my weekly pass using the vending machine?
You can't buy the Navigo Découverte on a vending machine. You have to go to a counter.
The thing is 2-fold: one plastic card, credit card sized, where you write your name and you place your photo, and then a plastic sticky on the inner face, that will wrap the card.
Am I clear enough?
If I am arriving on Thursday morning, can I still get the weekly pass to use for Thursday to Sunday?
Yes, absolutely!
Yes, the airport ticket connection is only for metro, not bus!
The important thing we need to know is - do they take cash?
@@paristoptips So a Carnet ( Cardboard Tickets) is 10X 2.10E with no reduction?
Yes!
Merci
I am to arrive at Paris CDG airport on 6th,june at 6pm to travel to Paris crimee to check in a Hostel, and to make one up and down trip to Palace of Versailles ,and approximately 12trips both up and down, till 10th,june as tourist and make final one trip to gare de Lyon on 11th,to catch TGV train to Basel, Switzerland .so do u suggest me to buy NAVIGO weekly pass.,costing €30, including €5 for pass.?
@@paristoptips thanks for a lightning quick reply! 🙏 I will think about your suggestion and do my homework. We have 1 more month to decide.
Can you confirm that the passport photo required is 3.0 x 2.5 cms???
Yes, it is. This website (in French) can help you produce the right sized photo: fr.visafoto.com/fr-navigo-card-photo
Absolutely!
It's a Monday to Sunday pass that you can purchase from 3 days before validity (Friday) up to 4 days of validity (Thursday).
@@paristoptips the SNCF connect.
Even with Navigo sometimes the scanner also reject me. I experienced this 3 times. I already topped up my navigo and it still didnt work untill other people help me with their card.
But why not navigo semaine if i travelled one week
It depends on what you want to do and when you start your week.
The Navigo weekly pass is only available from Monday to Sunday.
And if you intend to use less than 18 times and only inside Paris, the Navigo Easy pass is a better priced solution.
La machine accepte seulement la carte de crédit, j'imagine
Certaines machines acceptent les billets et les pièces.
Damn this music so loud :))
I used to put it louder in the past. The newesr version of this video should be more "attractive" to you: th-cam.com/video/anqsW0tiI1g/w-d-xo.html
Decourverte cards are so outdated. Who in the world asks for a physical photo in 21st century? So France is outdated 😅
It's not France, it's the RATP!
@@paristoptips RATP is a state-owned public transport operator and maintainer headquartered in Paris, France.
So RATP = France 😅
COMPLICATED system; why not just load the card with money and pay a cheaper trip, like ALL other cities? A card loaded onto a card....... WHAT A PARLAVER
Clearly one of the most complicated system.
