Made this today and definitely lived up to the hype for me. I was most impressed with the cake as it was very moist and almost fudgy, in the best way possible. The frosting was extremely creamy and delicious. Also was a very easy cake and frosting to make! Couple substitutions i made were baking in 9×13 as i dont have 8 inch pans. Cold brew coffee, as that is what i had on hand. And 60% chocolate in the frosting. Would highly recommend other to try, will definitely be making again

Just made this and it’s so good!!! I used Bournville for the icing and it was scrummy! Not too sweet either. But I did also halve the cocoa powder both times because I was running out and ran out of vanilla!! I’ll make it properly next time, but even as is it was amazing, perfect for Bruce Bogtrotter!

So I made this cake last night. This is probably the best chocolate cake I’ve ever made and eaten. Even the cafés that I’ve had chocolate cake at do not come close to this. Chocolate cake is one of those cakes that can be dry if not made correctly. This was next level good. This is 100% going in the family recipe book. Using a scale is definitely a must and is probably why the cake came out as well as it did. We are a family of four. The cake is almost finished. It was that good 😅😜
No I didn’t. I honestly think you could use any chocolate as long as it’s good quality. I’ve made this cake a couple times now and I leave the chocolate out of the icing completely. Just use the cream cocoa etc but no melted chocolate as I prefer the taste

Red velvet cookie 🍪 wasn’t great. Came out perfectly made but just wasn’t the best taste cookie. Made twice and exactly the same not great. First time ever my husband dandy finish a batch of cookies , me either. They actually went stale before we ate them. First time EVER we don’t finish off a single batch of cookies I mean it was only 8 or so cookies I even measured out each cookie so the weight was exact. I have a new oven and it took a few minutes longer to cook til not raw and just cooked. The chocolate cake was horrible. Made it exactly to the mg of each ingredient and it came out extremely oily. Had good flavour for 3 bites then again first time we never finished a cake and a majorly chocolate cake too. I’m a chocolatier so I have the best quality chocolate available from Belgium and the cake wasn’t good. Too oily like I said. Amazing at first your thinking finally a rich dark almost black wet cake. So oily it was like it was wet. And the icing wow that was horrible. The most embarrassing recipe instructions ever. I was so confused reading the recipe for the icing it made no sense to make a beautiful buttercream then not mix in a fully made ganache icing then mix it in?? That would work BUT NOPE you mix in warm cream then warm melted dark chocolate DIRECTLY into your PERFECT FLUFFY BUTTERCREAM!! Anyone new to baking or confectionery I suppose won’t understand what happened next but it’s very simple to predict if you’ve ever made buttercream even once you know how light and fluffy the icing is after 10-15minuts of a mixer whipping it. But WHY would you EVER POUR WARM HEAVY CREAM directly onto it and try to mix in?? Well it completely destroys the perfect buttercream you spent 20 mins making. I recommend if making the icing to make the buttercream & make the ganache icing & then mix the 2 icings together!!! That way you get deep rich icing!! Not a melted liquify mess of separated slop. Yummy slop but certainly not gorgeous icing. Bottom line both these recipes were a flop. Like I said in a professional chocolatier, I also own a business for past 3 years in one of the business most famous areas of Vancouver Canada so I’m fairly sure the recipes were made 100/% to the exact instructions. I’ll wait for a yellow cake recipe and try one more time or maybe a brownie. If they turn out then I’ll buy the book because currently the book is a HARD PASS based on the experience mentioned

The levain rocky road cookie was better last year with chunky cashews. This year its sliced almonds and not that great. Next time your in NYC you should try Funny Face Bakery... good chocolate chip, sugar confetti and smore cookies...levain and funny face both have good oatmeal raisin cookies. Levain does dark chocolate cookies the best - peanut butter chip, dark chocolate chip and peppermint chip at holiday time. Also in Bryant Park... coffee place that makes a great corn cookie and chocolate chip cookies. The 3 are considered the top 3 in cookies in nyc...

You can easily make buttermilk at home! just add 1 tablespoon lemon or white vinegar to room temperature milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. It will curdle and thicken to create the same consistency!
Can I make the cake x4 in a large pan .Sheet pan that I cut and stack.I have a ventilated oven do I need to cover it with another pan? Lastly can I use self raising flour. Thanks for your videos ❤

Can i replace the buttermilk with regular milk or its not possible, queen ❤?
You can easily make buttermilk at home! just add 1 tablespoon lemon or white vinegar to room temperature milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. It will curdle and thicken to create the same consistency!

Can I make the cake x4 in a large pan .Sheet pan that I cut and stack.I have a ventilated oven do I need to cover it with another pan?

Put a tablespoon of lemon juice in a 1 cup measuring cup and then fill with normal milk. Leave around 5 minutes. Great substitute for buttercream
