  • This video is the first in a series. The series will share information that I've learned from the majority of a lifetime spent in the woods. This video in particular describes my specific experiences in the woods and life as well as my philosophy that has allowed me to spend most of my time in the woods.

Hi Vince, thank you for your honesty and the good intentions that you have in giving back to the hunting community. I have been a hunter (in Australia) my whole adult life. I am now 54 and am still learning and getting fulfilled by hunting. Your philosophy of being a man and provider first and foremost is important and a message that needs to be shared. Hunting is more than a life skill it is a way of life. We need to help the next generation who missed out on the electronic free upbringing that we enjoyed. Kids these days are raised online and the prevalence of legal drugs and other perversions has taken them away from the true meaning of life. Thank you for attempting to bring people back onto the right path via hunting. I apologise for writing so much but you have touched on a whole world that most do not yet understand.

Thank you for watching and commenting, it's crazy to think the video reached around the world. As far as the rest of what you said, I was just speaking honestly, I learned it by continuous mistakes and quiet time to think about them. A good spouse didn't hurt either.

I grew up in suburbs of Commiefornia without a father. I didn’t even shoot a gun till I was 30. Ive only been on a few hunts but I found the peace and quiet of the wilderness invigorating. Tracking an animal is exhilarating. Successfully taking your quarry is fullfilling on a primal level. Im a father now and i cant wait to take my boys hunting once they are old enough.

Everyone is an example. Some are good, some are bad. Knowing what not to do is as important as knowing what to do. I'm glad you're interested in breaking the cycle. Sounds like you and your boys will be good. I wish you luck.

Thanks. That paper's really good for political and some national information as it relates to hunting. Reader comments not so much.

Hi Vince,I really enjoyed this video and rarely comment on youtube but you seem so genuine so am intrigued by this series. This is coming from New Zealand, we call still hunting bush stalking. It is my favourite way to hunt,I think I am 68 now and have hunted since 7 years old. Most deer are reds I have also hunted fallow and sika..Living in the bush in a small house(cabin) hunting is literally out the back door.Having read Van Dyke, the still hunter and Whelen and many others I appreciate this philosophy. My time in the bush is time for observation and reflection,it is easy to watch deer instead of shooting but I am having venison tonight.Equipment, rifle can be very simple and relatively inexspensive although now a red dot is perfect for my eyes.Looking forward to upcoming videos, old dogs can always learn new tricks.Stuart Davidson.

Thanks for watching/commenting. I just read Van Dyke this year. Good book, even though it was written a while ago. Could've saved me some time had I read it earlier. I need to read Whelen's stuff, haven't yet. I hear you on the eyes, recently got my bifocals.
