I have no idea how I missed this one! I'm shooting and uploading my challah recipe for Rosh Hashanah this year, since I've been testing a bunch of recipes this summer (up in a week or two - woohoo)! I took one to a shabbat picnic and it got rave reviews! Can't wait to see what new videos you'll come out with this fall! Shanah tovah, Marion!

Let your challah rise a second time after braiding it and it will be twice a big and not as dense. I did, turned out perfectly. Wish I could send you a pic.

Warm water means about 100 degrees, hotter will kill it. And those packets of yeast vary in weight from one packet to the next, as proven by America's Test Kitchen on PBS.

Better to add the salt when you add the flour .. salt can kill off the yeast , so if you add it along with flour ,( rather than directly into yeast mixture , you will be sure of the best rise for your bread ... be well

You don't put any sweetener into your yeast mixture to feed your yeast for the 10 minutes?you added honey and salt after your yeast sat for 10 minutes

Defiantly going to try this lovely shape! My husband made a large crescent moon shaped challah for our handfasting / wedding many years ago instead of a cake. Inside of the moon was a plate of fruits and spreads for the challah. He’s a vastly better baker than I am (and a fine cook as well).

Please please stop touching your hair and then your food. Especially in making challah. Just doesn't seem kosher or sanitary.
