It would have saved me an insane amount of parse time and gold had I been explained the global cool down and priority like you just did. Really great info here. Glad you're back in the mix!
Seriously, no idea why Deltia fell off my radar for a while. I was stuck with Alcast and Xynode telling me all I had to do was get these super duper trial sets and be cp 1,000,000 to finally be good enough to solo Wayrest Sewers. Glad you're back Deltia.
Since this game came out, I quit for awhile and always end up coming back. Sometimes it's a few months other times it's been more than a year, almost every time that I've come back you're still pumping out content. Thank you for that sir, it also looking like you're still staying healthy and in shape and that's awesome.
Yeah I would always find my self just spamming and reapplying the wrong buffs that would just give me crit damage and not DoT damage. This was an awesome help!
You prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new series on Instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother during the lockdown xD
Two small tips you may not know about, I noticed from the vid. You can desummon your pets in the character menu by right clicking on them. Useful to get them to stop fighting. And you can hold ctrl or shift to select multiple damage outputs in combat metrics. It wi automatically show you all of the dps and other stats of those outputs combined.
To paraphrase. It's comparing "10 force pulses" vs "1 lightning flood + 9 force pulses" assuming 1 cast per second. Noones going to sit there doing nothing while lightning flood ticks. It's about what gives the most damage in a single cast while you are doing 1 cast per second. Great video mate! This should help a lot of new players.
Doing the math in writing is actually really good advice. To not do this once, or a few times as we change specs, when we know it helps us maximize our DPS, is - in my humble, and no doubt very common, opinion - ill-advised. :) Great guide, Deltia. Thank you, and looking forward to watching more of your material.
Great video, one small detail that I notice is that you can instruct pet to stop attacking saving the hassle of moving away from targets to end combat and open combat metric.
if i remember correctly.. dots and pets give 30-40% total damage. 40-50% from light/heavy attacks. last 20-30% combined spammables, ults, executes. On that note, there are sets out there buffing light/heavy attacks multiple times over.. while dots,pets,spammables,executes,ults.. mostly balanced, few options even at top for improvement. Could continuously crit 50k+ heavy attack without resource drain.. Spamables get maybe half that, constant resource drain. Dots need both bars used, precise timer micro management. Just a pen resto heavy CP1170.. dropping in my two pennies :)
Good tips, important to note is to let your dots finish and not renew them (if you can avoid it) before they expire. As things like elemental wall will explode at the end of it's duration, however if you recast before this happens, your loosing a 10k hit.
I’m a noob. What plug-in are you using to see your actual damage? I couldn’t read that screen in the vid playback. I loved that your video was focused and to the point. Thank you!
This is so basic information and I never did it like this. Big thanks! I am playing as a vampire stage 4 with simmering frenzy - my goal was to add free damage (twilight tormentor, slottable buffs) and necessary dots and then use the cheap spammable. For me it keeps the rotation simple and reliable. Your approach might be harder to manage (static rotations may cost more resources - dynamic rotations with many dots/temporary buffs, which run out at different times and will interfere with each other, need a whole priority list), BUT the dps logically has to be higher and I never saw it that way.
My favorite spammable is Brawler, because the damage shield is pretty puny (It's still a Spamina shield) but since it's a spammable, when it pops, it pops right back up. I don't really even think about it. I know I could get more DPS with a higher damage strike in that slot, but pretty much everything in my bar is multi-purpose. That's what the Blitzerker build is all about: Get 2, or 3 useful side effects out of every cast, like Hurricane. It's an AoDoT, a mobilizer, and Damage Mitigation all in 1. Brawler is just Damage Mitigation, and a TWIMC in front of me for weenie whacking. However, having that shield up ultimately means fewer heals. (My primary heal is Stampede with Critsurge up.) Which means more sustain for the whole party, and a more streamlined rotation in DPS. (It's Bow 2H, BTW. So, I can Tank&Spank, but I can also reach out and touch someone without charging out of position.)
Im still surprised that no one has pointed out the fact that there is a limited time window to use your spamable within a rotation. Forexample, if your first dot lasts 12 sec, then you have about 11 sec worth of actions to apply your other combat skills and spamable until that first one needs to be reapplied. Also, you need to allow time for any mechanic/rotating needed to stay alive. Filling both bars with nothing but buffs/dots means your casting 1 rotation for a solid 10 sec straight. By then you might be able to get 1 or 2 cast of a spamable before recasting everything. As you said, dots do more dmg per cast, but your spamable does more dmg per HIT. If you can cast your spamable once per sec, then compare the DPS of the spamable to the dmg per TICK of a dot. Not 1 sec of dmg vs 10 secs of dmg. What your saying holds true to the value of dmg per cast or dmg per resource spent. If you were trying to explain how to find out if a dot/buff is worth it per cast, then you want to subtract your total dmg of the duration of the dot cast while using your spamable by the total dmg of just using your spamable for an equal duration.(note that your basically just casting 1 more spamable to replace the cast of the dot. Channels require extra casts too.) The difference will tell you how much more/less dmg that specific cast nets you vs the cast of that 1 extra spamable. Dont get me wrong, your providing great information. Just wanted to toss in some help.
That's how I was thinking too. Force Pulse 10K - instantly, Elemental Blockade 19k over ten seconds. I mean, what are you gonna do during these aprox 8-9 seconds remaning, when you have applied your viable damage of time abilities? That's when you use a spammable until it's time to refresh dot abilities. All I see is everyone going "Yeah! Right! Absolutely! Awesome!", and I just sit here like "....? what...?".
I haven't been raiding yet, but there's one thing I would like to understand. How the hell do you get people with over 100K DpS tooltip when your bigest hit deal at most 19K over time. I understand there are debuffs, buff, crit chance, etc. But honestly, I don't get it how you can quintuple your damage numbers on a target dummy. Makes me wonder if those addons actually calculate damage correctly.
Just curious, i see many périple running away to have the pet stop attacking, is there a reason to do this instead if manually controlling the pet and telling it to stop?
You need to think: - Sometimes, AoE improve DPS insanely (with 5+ enemies, 1k dmg AOE is better than 4k single hit) - Minions, they dont need to be cast and use attacks while you attack - DoTs are not always better, sometimes their total damage is lower than of other your spells - some spells deal no damage BUT they provide f.e. spell damage bonus - light attack with weapons seems to me like free move (i can light attack with staff for minor damage, but then i can instantly cast a spell) - some morphs may cause effects that are not obvious - crystal shard seems like an unwise choice due to 0,6 cooldown, but when morphed, it may provide second attack that deals more damage AND is cast instantly - and yea... passives. Often they are hidden in unrelated skilltrees (f.e. Armor passives may improve DPS of Mage).
I use: 1- heal exclusive 2- area damage (NOT AOE) as first atack and weaken enemies 3- damage with heal % gain 4- main damage spamable 5- AOE damage to compliment 4 No complaints since I stgarted using it that way
My problem is that I just don't see the high numbers popping up like in many tutorials. I got the same equip except for my jewlery being epic instead of legendary also the Champion points are quiet the same. I also worked on my rotations, so I nearly do no mistakes anymore, timing is nearly perfect but I still miss out the dmg and not just a bit. Tutorial says +90k dps while I only do 20-30k dps... it's like there is somewhere a hidden box I still have to check that says "do dmg". (Magicka Templar Bretone)
Every build i got has a parse of 20k to 30k on am ideal dummy... Saddly that's when it's ideal. I've tried different builds, sets, rotations and all i get is the same dps. If it is true only cp and maxed gear is enough that's trial gear and also meta, I'm afraid i give up. I use pots, buff foods like the eye bowl for my mag build and honestly, that's all I'm gonna do rn. This stuff gives me stress. I did insane animation cancelling yesterday with my Stamblade with th setup I'd use in trials or normally and the skills and idk man. Maybe i missed something?
You should be well over 20k if you're following meta loadouts. Make sure you are using a trials dummy, trials parse food with stam/stam recovery no health. You can also keep it simplier if needed and start adding stuff for more dps. But if you're using bis gear from trials you should be at 70k pretty easy.
just press light attack and follow with skill quickly after. light attack-endless hail, light attack-poison injection, light attack-bar swap, light attack-rapid strikes and so on, practise
You're missing the point. You should compare "10 force pulses" vs "1 lightning flood + 9 force pulses" assuming you can do 1 cast per second. Noones going to sit there doing nothing while lightning flood ticks. It's what gives you more damage in a single cast while you are doing 1 cast per second.
You prolly did 6 min so you could get the 5 min minimum, but you could have explained this in two minutes. Your dots snd aoes need to always be up and in between while their running so your spam or rebuff but make sure your dots snd aoes are ALWAYS up and running. Every second they are down you are losing thousands of dps….ppl gripe and gripe about how it’s weaving that does it, snd yes weaving does increase your dps, but you can suck at weaving but as long as you manage your dots aoes and buffs correctly, you’ll make the count whether you can master weave or not
Theirs no such thing actually as better DPS in ESO, all it is is a measurement of potential in your attacks, like if you have a character with mega massive DPS and you put a bullshit player in playing skill behind it, you wont get very many results even more than an ESO newbie does, the best DPS methods are button/keyboard key rythym practices " NOTE: THIS IS NOT BUTTON MASHING, DO NOT CONFUSE THIS AT ALL "(Can create faster aggro and depictive anger fighting to overland, lesser, and some easy mid range enemies and bosses), The Blood Scion skill is the best DPS in the game, the Fungal Grotto gear sets are better for DPS like Hundings and Gladiator(I dont guarentee these sets for all playing styles or player interest though, they just are the rag tag DPS sets to use), the werewolf can do a bit better it depends most of it is Maelstrom Arena for werewolves just simulation stuff mostly to show your character for, they either play the game or they suck.
To be honest all of this information is in the top 6 posts when you google "improve dps eso".... If you have been trying for years to improve your damage and you comment that this video "really helped you finally" you just havnt even tried to improve yourself.... I have found over 10 posts going back 4 years that have all of this info lol.
You kidding with this or what? That is the point of having 10 abilities slotted at all times plus ultimates. Its called rotation, if you don't know how to do a rotation then don't play. This advice is idiotic.
I watched this twice, and I still have no idea what you are talking about. LOL I mean, yes - you apply your dot abilities, and depending on class/build/sets (etc) you use a spammable until it's time to refresh dot abilities. Elemental blockade did 19k, yes, Force Pulse only did 10k - but you can use Force Pulse quite a few times over the duration of elemental blockade, orb, lightning and all that. As I said, I don't get it.
You can use force pulse more times over the duration of elemental. Deltia is talking about how long it takes to cast something. So, for each cast of elemental you get 19k and force pulse gives you 10k. In anything but a really short fight it would be better to cast elemental because it gives you more damage (not instantly) for the cast time. You have to think 'what damage am I getting per cast time'. Now imagine, you are doing 1 cast per second. You have 10 seconds. You cast 10 force pulses, you get 100k damage (10 X 10k). Well, if you cast elemental (lasts 10 seconds) you do 19k over the duration and then you cast 9 force pulses for another 90k ( 9 x 10k) Notice you have casted 10 abilities again. This time you did 109k damage over the 10 seconds. I hope this helps.
@@spanishinquisition8678 Well. Still don't get it. Are there actually anyone who played for half a day, that's not aware that there are damage over time abilities and those that have upfront damage? And that you do pretty well in combining those?
@@mattiasl4112 You should compare "10 force pulses" vs "1 lightning flood + 9 force pulses" assuming you can do 1 cast per second. Noones going to sit there doing nothing while lightning flood ticks. It's what gives you more damage in a single cast while you are doing 1 cast per second.
I'm confused... so it's not a good idea to cast something with a longer-term/multiple seconds to tick-down effect damage window...like elemental blockade...and then cast a full instant damage hit over it? are you saying it makes no sense to cast anything over it, one second later, while it's still ticking down? I know you're a pro at this game/ And I'm definitely not...I'm just trying to understand what I think I'm hearing.
What he's basically saying is that you will most likely begin with buff and debuff skills/spells that have a very long duration, which will last you at least 2 combat rotations. With those buffs up, you start applying your damage-over-time skills like Elemental Blockade, Daedric Curse, or whatever. Anything that deals damage over a duration. Once all of those damage-over-time effects are all up, THAT is when you cast your main spammable. Because while those damage-over-time spells are going, you're basically ramping up the DPS you do by adding bursts of your main spammable for the remaining duration of your damage-over-time skills. This usually means you can cast your main spammable 4-5 times depending on spells on your mainbar that have an 'activation' component like Crystal Fragments which has a chance to become instantly cast. And the above statement isn't yet putting into consideration that you can weave/insert light attacks between casts of your main spammable, which results in even more DPS. When all of your damage-over-time effects wear off, you re-apply them again, and end that rotation with your main spammable. Again. By the time you've done two full combat rotations, your buffs/debuffs will most likely have run out. Re-apply them again. Then do your combat rotation, starting with damage-over-time effects, and ending with your main spammable. Again. Hope that helps

If you have been trying for years to improve your damage and you comment that this video "really helped you finally" you just havnt even tried to improve yourself.... I have found over 10 posts going back 4 years that have all of this info lol.
This was...actually pretty helpful. Thanks Boss.
Thanks!
I don't understand it. Sorry. I'll have to watch again.
Yeee
You kidding with this or what? That is the point of having 10 abilities slotted at all times plus ultimates. Its called rotation, if you don't know how to do a rotation then don't play. This advice is idiotic.
I use one bar.

Obligatory algorithm comment
I'm confused...
so it's not a good idea to cast something with a longer-term/multiple seconds to tick-down
effect damage window...like elemental blockade...and then cast a full instant damage hit over it?
are you saying it makes no sense to cast anything over it, one second later, while it's still ticking down?
