Thank you for sharing all of this information all the time. I went through a different agency to help me through citizenship by descent and just had my appointment at the consulate last week. The agency I used only gave me 90% of what I needed and didn’t tell me a lot of stuff (just said, “here are your docs. Go to your appointment and hand them this binder”) so the people at the consulate did not appear too pleased with me. Sent me home with a lot of homework to do to amend some of my docs (death certs have Americanized names) and the like, so I was feeling a bit hopeless.
Your videos have been more helpful in the past 2 hours than the agency I used was in 2 years. Wish I had found you sooner.

Love that you're both wearing the same color shirt on this day.
We've started to work with ICA and so far the process has been really great. Thanks for these informative talks!

Definitely a challenge to get documents from Italy ….Attempted on my own at first and I even knew the small town where my ancestor was from…Ultimately contacted one of my Italian cousins and she had copies of the documents emailed in a matter of days….And had paper copies mailed to me ….Made it much easier having someone in Italy doing this….I went to Italy this past summer and went to the town hall and gave them the money they spent on the postage they spent to sent me the documents….they were very kind!

Just left my appointment at the Italian consulate for my passport. All went well. They said I should receive my passport in 2 to 3 weeks.

I gathered all the documents for Italian citizenship except the Italian birth and marriage certificates and hired an Italian expert. It made it a lot faster and easier and with no marriage cert at the commune he got the right church cert with appropriate stamps to certify it.

Has anyone else noticed that the information on the ancestors portal site antenati is inaccurate?

My grandfather naturalized with the court in his US hometown before my father was born. However, the US Immigration Service recognized his naturalization after my father was born. Which naturalization record is the official one? The city Court or the US government? There are 2 naturalization records with 2 different dates.

What if my great grandma was born on the boat on the way to my family immigrating to the US?

I just read your comment! My great grandmother and her twin brother were born in the shop from Sicily to New Orleans! On her death certificate it says she was born in Sicily, Italy. Interesting

I have a quick question that may be off topic just a bit. When gathering documents in the US. How recent must the documents be. If I get them now, but don't move for 18 mos. Will those still be acceptable for the elective visa? Thank you.

Hello, we apologize. Could you kindly tell us which Lisa you spoke to (we have two) and perhaps provide some information to identify you so that we can get back to you promptly. Alternatively you can email Marco at Marco@italiancitizenshipassistance.com

We have worked so hard to get all of our documents and we had an appt in Miami in the summer of 2020. It got cancelled due to Covid. We were never able to get another appt- it is ALWAYS booked- even when we hop in daily at 6pm est to catch them when they open. We hired an atty a year ago and sent them all of our original documents - they have told us to keep trying to get out appt in Miami- when we get an appt to call them but they cannot schedule the appt for us :( we are now 5 years in the process and my husband is about 2 years from retirement and we want to purchase a home there but want to do so as a citizen so we can live there 6 months and back here 6 months - we got through last Friday to the scheduling system but here were no “available” appointments through 2032 and then it kicked us out when we were searching in 2032 😢

It's very difficult to find documents here if your family was poor. I've found census records that indicate "Alien" (lol) as opposed to "Naturalized" in the 1930s, but as those are largely self-reported, I've wondered if it was enough.
