Nice video. certain Digital hybrid systems can be used with both Digital and Analog phones altogether. and IPBAX is also available for use with analog phones in aid of an analog expansion unit with a license. there is the latest technology used instead of IPPABX called cloud-based "SIP" Phones capable of Video and voice calls. It only needs user-end devices and the internet to work.
I don't know why I'm watching this, lol. I wish I had TH-cam and The Nortel Guy when I was an angst-y teenager just getting into telecom. 😄 At any rate, thanks for your contributions to show folks these things that are often taken for granted.
not really. you can connect VoIP phone lines to a digital phone system. For example you can have VoIP lines from an ATA that connect to line 1, Line 2, Line 3 etc on the PBX. Then any digital phone on that PBX can make calls via those VoIP lines.
that's correct Max, almost all of the proprietary business phones (Nortel, Avaya, Samsung, Tie, Nisuko, Shoretel) can only be used with on a business phone system. Plugging them in at home won't even get you dialtone. Good question. :D
Is there a converter to convert an IP phone to analogue? the reason I ask I have an FTTN service that uses VOIP for the phone service, but the router my provider supplied has a built in ATA and they will not provide SIP information as its pre programmed into the router. but I wish to use a VOIP phone
Yes there are such devices. they are called “Analog Terminal Adapters”. Popular name brands are Cisco, Obihai , and Audiocodes. shouldn’t be too hard to find. But, they do require some setup.
+Jeff Moss thanks Jeff. It was hard to keep it brief. That video could have easily been an hour talking about sip, time div multiplexing, and tip/ring. But, I really just wanted to keep it light. Appreciate the feedback sir!
I own a VVX 201 and hooked it up direct to my modem and use passthru for my PC. No router. (ISP speed is under 100Mbps so no speed bottleneck). Are there any bad aspects of not using a router? Phone functions fine 90% of the time. Once in a while drops a call or cuts out. Can I implement QoS packet priortization using the QoS settings in the phone's Web Config Utility? Or will this have no effect since I have no router? Thanks!
I get similar questions like this often. so you are not alone in your quest. unfortunately, phones like that are designed to only work when attached to a business phone system (aka PBX). :-)
There’s this really cool cellphone I found from the 90s the seller said that the phone can be charge but due to the age battery hardly holds any charge and he said this phone will not work in today’s digital age. My question is can I somehow some way able to use this phone in the present day? I typed on google and they mentioned something like VoIP? But it seems to be referring to landline phones. Also, is the battery replaceable? Is there a guy I can go to? There’s always a guy. Thanks in advance!
Sounds like your biggest challenge will be finding a replacement battery (ebay would be my first place to look). As for the VoIP, not sure. You can take old smart phones (android and apple) and install voip software on them. They can then work as wifi phones even if they aren’t connected to a cell ph plan. But a phone from the 1990’s? Not thinking that would work. Even the earliest smartphones didn’t start showing up until like 2003. Good luck with your quest. 😃
that's a tricky question Rimpy. Depends on where the digital line is coming from. For instance if the digital line was from a Nortel phone system, then you would use what is known as an "ATA" or "Analog terminal Adapter". Most of the major phone system manufactures make ATA's for their phone systems so that user can add cordless phones, fax machines or postal meters. Like I said, it's tricky question. Good luck. :)
you can connect analogue phones to VoIP through an ATA adapter (if its analogue to VoIP) Cisco SPA112 Analogue Phone Adapter is a good choice. phones.skybridgedomains.com
A lot of this is wrong. If you're dealing with a Panasonic hybrid PBX the Panasonic phones use two twisted pairs on one RJ11 jack Also a analog phone that's plugged into a Panasonic system will work.
yes, I agree Avaya Partner and the Pana KXT series does allow that hybrid TDM, analog co-existence. But, I don't think the audience for this video wants to split hairs that far. Thanks for commenting . :-)
hi sir i have digital input output i/o module so i have to connect 2wire to way audio intercom with that so how can i do it can you tell me what? So is there any need to use a converter?
Thank you for making this! It’s the first time I’ve had a little more in depth guide to all 3.
I have to install one of these when I wake up tomorrow morning and have no experience. This video really helped me get my bearings.
That’s good to hear. Check out my other 2 TH-cam channels for more of this type of content

Nice phones. Analog wired phones, Digital cordless, and IP Phones, similar like our factory.

I want to use two ISDN phones in the local line at home without internet. Is it possible if yes how?
Are there ata available for digital phone into voip system?
not really. you can connect VoIP phone lines to a digital phone system. For example you can have VoIP lines from an ATA that connect to line 1, Line 2, Line 3 etc on the PBX. Then any digital phone on that PBX can make calls via those VoIP lines.
I been working with phones ,pix etc .. long time. It is nice to see your video. You explain it well and keep it interesting. Nice work!
Hi! I have a VoIP phone. How can I use this VoIP phone as a regular phone? Thanks!
You need an expensive IPPABX from same manufacturer to use it.
Is it possible to use that Linksys voip adapter to add a nortel phone to an Obihai Box what device can i use to get the digital phone to an anolog
So a NORTEL T7208 can't be plugged into a standard POTS Jack with service from the central office and program the speed dials from the settings?

very nice overview! been in this field a long time but you explain it very well.

Is there an adapter that I can use to be able to use a Panasonic KX-T7456 Digital Super Hybrid phone on an analog line
I get similar questions like this often. so you are not alone in your quest. unfortunately, phones like that are designed to only work when attached to a business phone system (aka PBX). :-)
@@DIYTelecom Thank you for taking the time to respond. Since the phone said hybrid, I thought it could be used for both.
Only you can use it in a Panasonic Digital hybrid system like KXTD 308, KXTD816, KXTD1232, KXTD336 or KXTD500
the best explanation!. thanks so much.
How can someone contact you? For a rather specific question?
Sorry, my day work keeps me so busy.
@@DIYTelecom okay nice video though
Thanks a lot. That was so easy to understand. God bless.
thanks for the feedback. glad I could help 😀
How is VOIP different from PBX? Please make a video on VOIP vs PBX. Thanks.
Great Question! I have a whole separate YT channel just for VoIP.

I don't know if you know this but these phones are also seen in certain schools
I have Vonage home service, can I use Avaya 1408 phone on the Vonage box?
the Avaya 1408 will only work with an Avaya phone system (IP Office, I believe)
good question. you’re not alone- I hear that often 😃
That tripod squeak tho
yeah, right Emil. sorry about that. I need to put some oil on that! :-)
DIY Telecom
Good idea! :P
Using digital phone, can i call an analog phone?
Yes, all three types should work together 😁
I don't know if you.know those but these phones are.also seen in certain schools
nice work
As usual it is also a nice video from your side. It helps me to know about more details of my voipswitch bought from datasoft.

Really helpful. Thank you.
Very helpful, thank you so much
A hassle to switch to VoIP. I will stay with my old fashioned analog.
