Vemuram Myriad Fuzz I Is this the most versatile (and awesome) fuzz pedal I have ever played?

  • Hey guys, I thought I would make a video to demonstrate the amazing versatility of this fuzz pedal. I play mostly Jazz and Blues so yes there are a lot of blues licks! I mainly use the pedal for these genres but there are just so many sounds in this thing to suit many styles of music.

      Haha, thank you! No I have not. I will be sure to check it out though. This is a great fuzz. I also really liked the Diaz squareface. They are rare though and pricey. I actually bought the kingtone fuzz and I enjoyed it but it didn't work into a clean amp. This pedal absolutely does so I ended up selling the kingtone and keeping this one. It's really great man! They should probably tame the level a bit though. This pedal is LOUD. Thanks for the comment 🙂

    Sounds fantastic, I have the ods1 and it has trim pots, but it’s not a big issue on that pedal as you would set it and leave it. On this pedal though that bias trim pot for the GE transistor seems like it would make a whole lot more sense to make that a pot accessible along with the feel and tone controls. Probably going to buy still though

    • @jamesemerson4102
      @jamesemerson4102  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree with you on that one. It's a real pain trying to adjust that thing for quick changes in tone/feel. Can't really do it without a clear view of the trim pot too. The level is also insanely high and a little ridiculous for the average player, although it's manageable if you just keep it low. I think they should have tamed that a bit for the production model, and left Josh Smith's personal one how he likes it. Other than that, I've kept it since I bought it and it's a wonderful stand alone fuzz that works very well even on a straight clean channel, and it has tonnes of sounds in it.

    • @pjbarford
      @pjbarford 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesemerson4102 yeah I’m trying to decide between this and the SM fuzz, the myriad has more tweak-ability, but not sure if I’m really going to use it if the controls aren’t easily accessible. First world problems 😂

    • @jamesemerson4102
      @jamesemerson4102  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pjbarford It's a great fuzz. I'd like to try the SM fuzz too. At least with the myriad, the feel and tone knobs are easily accessible and work pretty well. It's just the trim pot. I don't tend to change it that much but every now and then I change it up.

      Sweet man. I am using a Bondi Breakers for my lead sound at the moment and I am loving it. This pedal should be on more boards IMHO. I would love a Jan Ray type pedal for a clear low gain sound. That sounds great and I don't have the money anyway to be paying more for pedals at the moment 😂

    • @jordandangelo180
      @jordandangelo180 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How’s the breakers? I’ve been thinking about it for a while now. I own the Myriad Fuzz, Jan Ray and the TSV808. Vemuram is my favorite brand at the moment but Bond is great too. A lot of people love the Del Mar and I’ve read the Breakers is just the Del Mar with more gain. Mateus Asato uses the Jan Ray and Breakers as his lead tone ( or at least his was for a while ) Is the Breakers like a Morning Glory of King of Tone? I’m assuming it does it’s own thing.
      Btw, this fuzz is ridiculous lol I love it and owned a lot of fuzz pedals. This smokes my King Tone and every other fuzz I’ve owned. This demo really shows how powerful wicked it is. Great demo!

      @jamesemerson4102  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jordandangelo180 thanks man! So Bondi effects works out of the same workshop as my friend who built my amp. He gave his feedback on the del mar to make it more of a lead pedal. Some values were changed etc and so the del mar became the breakers. I had a breakers then went on a long journey of trying boutique pedals. Kingsleys, Vemuram, all kinds. I have come back to the breakers as my favourite of all. The gain is always smooth. It's very hard to get any fizz out of it at all. Smooth, clear, dynamic. When you first try it, it may not stand out because it's so smooth and subtle... But turn it up and listen to it. Fantastic!! Works with humbuckers and single coils.
      I love the Vemuram fuzz. It sounds awesome even into a completely clean amp.

    This is my favorite fuzz of all time and Vemuram is my favorite pedal company. I was all about King Tone for a while and they are great but Vemuram creates and brings out the sounds you hear in your head. This fuzz especially. It does everything like you said. It’s a time chasers dream come true. The Jan Ray is the best overdrive too and the TSV808 is the best Tube Screamer. Awesome demo 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 not sure if you mentioned it but what are you using amp wise?

      @@jamesemerson4102 A Tweed amp model. Excellent choice for demoing a fuzz. That clean up was so good it was hard to believe. The fuzz went from smooth and sustained to one of the nastiest, spitty fuzz tones and then to a perfectly, glassy, crystal clear cleaned up tone. A lot of fuzz pedals that get that gnarly do not clean up that well, especially Big Muffs.

      @@jordandangelo180 Yes it is really a great fuzz. Very versatile and it also sounds very good into a completely clean amp unlike a lot of fuzzes I have tried. Yeah, it's really a VERY versatile fuzz... and as Josh Smith says, it's very hard if not impossible to get a bad sound out of it. I am not one to usually fall for the boutique brands. I don't have a lot of money to spend on this stuff, but I bought it because I was in Japan and I happened to try it out there. Was a bit cheaper there, too. I love it!

    Demo and playing are nicely done 👍 Everything sounds a little over the top. Seeing the knobs below 9 o clock creating such a high fuzz and output level, I fear that there’s not much dynamic left other than louder and more distorted. I didn’t like the clean up. It left something at the end of the note that I don’t have with my fuzzes. Probably a great pedal for many players, but this time not my cup of tea ✌️🎸✌️

    • @jamesemerson4102
      @jamesemerson4102  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching the demo mate! yeah, it's not for everyone. It's a very aggressive fuzz, but I actually love it a lot because I sometimes use it as basically an aggressive overdrive. It can get really focussed and tight. It's not really like a vintage fuzz at all. Two things I would change about it would be the amount of level (insane!!) and also as you say even with the fuzz all the way down it's still quite driven, but still a lot of awesome sounds in this pedal. I've still got it and probably won't get rid of it. Can never have enough fuzz!

      Thanks for watching! I think it's great for people who haven't always gotten on with traditional fuzz. It is tighter and more like an overdrive in that wasy, and has more 'filth' on tap for running into a clean channel. Some traditional fuzzes don't sound great into a dead clean channel and they need the amp to be screaming loud or to be run into a dirty channel on the amp.
