      Hell, yeah. It can't have MIDI, but must have some rectangular push buttons to do some routing and pedal order. Somehow, Mick's choices need to be made painfully obvious by coordinating light colors for the foot switches. It will need to cost twice as much as the G2. It must also have valve buffers that are switchable and must be visible - oh, yeah, and a reverb tank.

    I bought the Myriad fuzz when I was in Japan. It was the first fuzz pedal I have ever bought and man do I NOT regret that purchase. So good!! I plugged it in and within about 30 seconds I knew I was going to buy it. I had never spent more than 300 dollars on a pedal before that and I still did not hesitate.

  • @MrChrisPalmer
    @MrChrisPalmer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As far as I can discern, the Feel knob on Myriad works in conjunction with the Bias... You set the main bias for the Ge transistor depending on the day (temp etc) and your mood/need and the Feel is kind of an additional bias swing on top so you can move between fat and spit sounds... I could be wrong but that’s been my experience. Great sounding fuzz - I do wish it went lower in gain tho..kinda starts at 11

    • @jordandangelo180
      @jordandangelo180 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love 11 lol I know what you mean though. About to pick one up myself. Love the super thick fuzz. I did the whole fuzz clean up thing for a while but I’d rather use my Vemuram Jan Ray for that sound. The TSV808 is absolutely incredible too. I sold a few pedals for it and broke even. I really am starting to prefer Vemuram almost any other pedal manufacturer. They build pedals that bring out the sound I hear in my head. Can’t ask for more than that. I’d rather buy one or two Vemuram’s than 7-8 pedals which I don’t fall in love with and are just decent or good, not great.

    • @MrChrisPalmer
      @MrChrisPalmer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jordan Dangelo Yeah..they’re pretty amazing. I’ve got 3 Vems now. Shanks 4K, 2, and Jan Ray...which fit nicely with my 3 Kingsley’s - Minstrel, Harlot, and Page. Yum yum. I wish I could have kept Myriad but yeah I couldn’t get it to clean up how I wanted.. I’m not a super high-gain guy...but can def get some fat sustain outta my above combos à la Hendrix/Eric Johnson etc. 🤘🏼

      What's not to love about running a gritty low gain overdrive into a ZVEX SHO? Spaceman seems to use the SHO type circuit in a lot of pedals, and it's a really smart thing to do. It's why I have a SHO at both ends of my board.

    I LOVE the D1. Probably the best delay I've ever owned, and that includes a pile of big-box EHX DMMs, a Roland 201, and a Roland 501. Just amazing musical repeats.
    Sadly, it destroys the dry signal with a honky midrange and top-end roll-off.
    I so wish this weren't the case and don't understand why it is. Completely unnecessary for a digital delay to mess with the dry signal. If they insist, they should do it with an SDD-3000 style preamp, just saying ;)
    I had to say goodbye to mine. Hope they revise this otherwise beautiful delay.

    The brief element of Sunshine of Your Love forces me to mention the Keeley Psi, which also mixes op-amp and germanium. With a paintjob looking like a Cream album cover and one of the knobs actually labeled Cream, you know what Mr. Keeley was aiming for, and I think he nailed it. It appears to be discontinued, but it's readily available used at a reasonable price.

    I think the comparison that needs to be made is the D1 and the DD-200... These two have a pretty comparable feature set, in that they are very simple interface with lots of good options, but I would be interested to see how they compare in terms of fidelity and tone. Obviously there are different specific sounds in each the other can't do, but it would still make an interesting comparison

    A while back, you guys demoed the ProAnalog devices mk4 which is also a combination of fuzz/overdrive (Germanium/transistor).
    While tone is as subjective a preference as it gets, I find it far superior to the vemuram. It's on my wish list and I highly recommend you give it another listen. In a market SATURATED with thousands of great pedals it manages to shine and do something very different and unique.

    Before your fuzz episode the other week all I'd ever had was a little big muff and always left it off my board. I do have a hudson broadcast but use the low gain setting as a nearly always on thing. Then... Last week I got a moose electronics Nomad... Its Irish made... I've never seen or heard of Irish made pedals but there you go. It's a two button fuzz one side is fuzz with a knob to reintroduce the clean signal into it. It also has clipping option switches and then the other side is a footswitchable octave.... ITS INSANE...why has it taken me so long to get into fuzz? Now that vemuram.... I WANT IT.... The GAS will cost me my sanity aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgghhhhh!

    Great show! I love all those pedals. Glad you topped off with the Fuzz first, and spent some time there. LOVE that Fuzz! If I were a rich man, I would have one in my toy chest NOW!
    I generally play through a Tweed Deluxe clone, and that Saturn boost would be an amazing fit? The Jam Vibe has a lovely sound and range. Walrus pedals always sound Pro, and good. Very deep and trippy pedal.
    Mick, that Strat...what a generous loaner. Obviously, an absolutely amazing guitar. It always sounds jaw dropping fantastic...shake my head every time I hear it. So good through all those pedals. Always love hearing it in your show.

      I have the fuzz. Sold a few pedals I wasn’t using on Reverb and I had it! Try it if that’s an option for you. There’s always so many new, better sounding pedals hitting the market that it’s worth it to get rid of the old and try the new.

      Thanks for the response. I have been using the Jesse Davies Kingtone Mini Ge for a bit, and it’s a really great Fuzz! It can cover a lot of ground, and sounds really good. The Myriad is still one of those dream Fuzz pedals. I’ve never seen a demo where it didn’t kill?
      Every Fuzz has a personality, but it’s true what you say. Once you find a great Fuzz, other ones don’t get as much play?
      😬 Zvex Fuzz Factory, EQD Hoof Reaper, JHS Pollinator V2, DOD Carcosa...could easily get me over the finish line, But I’m sure I would have sellers remorse?
      I’ll have to keep saving.

I just can’t imagine it sounding that much better than my Fulltone 69 & 70 for the money. I actually bought both of them for less than I can buy the Myriad. I just can’t see putting over $400 into a single function pedal. And I’m not shy when it come to spending money on pedals. I bought a Revival Drive Custom w/footswitch. But that thing does a lot.

      In addition, I also can't believe the difference a real DMM has over new analog delay pedals. And what about the original Korg SD3000 and TC 2290 rack delays against the new digital delays? Again, could just be my ears and a subjective take, but there's a lot of jam in those old units! Maybe there's a TPS show in there somewhere? Does the phrase: "They don't make 'em like they used to" actually hold true? Ruined.

    Walrus has confirmed that there isn't analog dry through. Full signal is digital to allow for 100% wet. Considering how good it sounds, does it seem reason to be put off these days?

    • @aaroncurtis4476
      @aaroncurtis4476 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lazarus101 I really prefer analog dry through myself, which is why the ECCOS has me mostly interested for my next delay, but those Mako sounds were sure amazing.

      @ThatPedalShow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mono. Not so much. Sounds pretty good I’d say. Mick here. But wet/dry is going to be a problem. Latency = phase issues. Arrrrrrgghhhhh!!!!

      @aaroncurtis4476 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That Pedal Show that’s right. Forgot about that! Bummer. They say it’s so the effect can go full wet, but my Strymon El Capistan is analog dry through and goes full wet. I’m curious why some pedal makers go with a digital signal over analog dry through.

    • @ryanpaulretouch
      @ryanpaulretouch 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As another El Cap owner I'm also curious. This seems to be the perfect delay but I was also intending to move into a wet/dry setup...

    • @aaroncurtis4476
      @aaroncurtis4476 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, unless I specifically intend to mess with my dry tone (say by using a Lofi digital effect), I prefer my dry tone to be untouched, and so this is why I’ll likely go with the ECCOS. It also has a looper that could mean I can ditch my Ditto looper and save some pedalboard real estate.

    This might get a mixed response, but i can't believe I haven't thought about this in the years I've been following the channel: gigrig has built in buffer, why don't you always leave one on at the end of the chain (or after any sensitive fuzzes anyway), or at least enable it only for the dry sound? That should give you a better starting ground to tell if any "top end sparkle" is due to the pedal frequency response or just the fact that there's an active circuit between the guitar and the amp

  • @Yupppi

    Vemuram has made some simple and classic style pedals, but this is at the edge of me getting scared. Similar to those pedals with crazy amount of dip-switches, two bias adjustments (by screwdriver to make it more effort in brain and in a sense, more permanent) for the transistors that are intertwined in their workings is getting to the territory of option paralysis. Like "what if I turn this knob or even better, these two or three knobs" and it changes the sound to something nice, but then if you adjust the bias to another spot (or both biases and also change the relation) and find a new sweet spot, then you're facing the problem of "which do I like more, if I choose this bias, I can't adjust it on the fly for another use".
    I don't know if you guys feel this way, but this might be the root of my problem with too many adjustments or internal/screwdriver pots. If there's only a couple adjustments that are seemingly separate or have some kind of hierarchy (like volume, gain and eq are still easily comprehensible and have such a relation that for example adjusting the eq after you have your gain and volume set doesn't change the whole character of the pedal). These adjustments don't have a similar hierarchy and pose an optimisation problem that can't be solved by calculation, but just by taste. The bias of either changes how you want your gain and one bias might have an effect where you want to adjust the other bias and so on and so on. Of course it's mostly just making it overcomplicated in brain, where in reality you'd just screw a bit, adjust the face controls and be happy with the sound. Is how you should do it. But brain is bad.
    And in reality the first impression panic is way overreacting, the adjustments are significantly different from each other and rather serve almost as individual character options. And the sound is ace.

    Here's an idea for a show...How to get fuzz tones without a fuzz pedal. I was blending the top boost and normal channels on my AC15 last night, and with the RC Booster with both switches on and boost from Empress Para EQ, I got a pleasant, tame fuzz like tone. Something nastier should be possible if I push the low mids.

    The myriad fuzz sounds amazing, but the bias control would be better as an actual control on the pedal itself. Otherwise you have to take a tiny screwdriver with you, should you wish to tweak it.

    Why is it that when I'm in the market for a cool new reverb pedal that builders keep putting out awesome delays one after another? I swear, if I were looking for a delay there would be nothing but cool reverbs coming out. So I guess after I buy the Walrus Mako D1 I can go back to looking for reverbs.
