Totally right. The fact that he plays for a "solo" artist doesn´t help in that regard. He´s such a tastefull guitar player, who plays FOR THE SONG, like no other.
Keith is on top of the world while flying under the radar. Pretty sure he likes it that way. He keeps guitarists’ egos in check when they look at his resume.
I've been an active musician for more than 25 years, performing overseas and in big venues as also a music enthusiastic for all my life, more than 40 years now. During this time, I've watched literally thousands of live shows, of all kind of music genres, covering the top worldwide artists and musicians of the past decades. Until now, I've never heard such a live guitar sound. You need to be there to understand how BIG and FULL Keith’s guitar sounds. It has character, amazing tone, presence. World class musician.
Thank you for your post. I totally agree. I think Keith is so underrated because of the genre. Massive and heavy on reckless, sofisticated on Into the fire then followed the pop era of his friend Bryan. Also when silenced by Mutt Lange he could prove his guitar skills and still did it in all those "easy listening" and chart albums. He is brilliant, smart, powerful and talented. If you don't see Bryan Adams live you can't understand how mighty and rough the show is.
I' ve been touring with one of Ireland' s biggest bands ever and played with Bruce S. Also spent some studiotime with Madonna and Sting. I like Boss to. But I' m also into Gucci and Versace.
Boss is an appropriate term for this man. I listen to tons of metal and technical guitar playing but I will always come back to sound. Before I even started playing guitar I loved Bryan Adams. If I were to recommend a starting point for any aspiring player, I would tell them to start with Keith. This is how a guitar should sound.
Keith is hugely underated. He's one of the most tasteful guitarists of the last 35 years. A Premier Guitar full rig rundown of Keith and Bryan is long overdue!
1996, MTV unplugged. I saw him chicken pick on "Think about you" and those banjo rolls on guitar was what led me to pick guitar in the first place. I admire many guitarists, but Keith Scott will always have a special place in my heart.
Keith Scott, what a legend. He responded to an email question I had for him about a Plexi he used to own that was for sale (locally, not by him), he was kind enough to reply and answered some really inside gear geekery questions about tones he achieved on some of those classic songs. Love his tone, playing and ability to lay down the perfect part. One of the all time greats.
Keith Scott - You ARE one of my most influential lead guitarists EVER! Your Soul and Finness as a soloist HIT ME straight away!! I have listed you as one of my TOP influences as a lead guitarist for years!! I just adore your bends and sustain and lack of conformity to the egotistical 'shredders'. KEITH SCOTT - GUITAR LEGEND
When I was a kid, he was the first guitarist that got my attention and made me start loving guitar music. Now I play myself for over 20 years, released several albums and toured with bands, thanks to this mister! 'Waking up the neighbours' is one of the best albums I know and I still learn from those songs often!
Without a doubt: "Into The Fire", is THE textbook on tone, emotion and feeling... you can hear Keith's "Living Being", not just his guitar... Some people just have musical Souls.
I am so happy to hear Keith be interviewed. We worked together in the 80's and he actually wrote a great rock song that I sang.. not sure anyone else has ever recorded it entitled Looks Good A Little Heartbreak.. love you Keith
The short solo in the middle is very effective...but the extended outro solo is easily one of the most heart-wrenchingly beautiful solos I’ve ever heard. Keith’s phrasing is absolutely flawless, and his note choices and tone just add extra layers of awesome. That solo punches me right in the gut every time I hear it, in the best possible way, of course. I’ve been moved to tears from it more than once. And there’s hardly any flash on it at all...proof that what you DON’T play can often be more effective than what you DO play. I’d say Keith truly outdid himself on that one...I wonder what space his head was in when he composed it? One of these days, I’ll sit down and learn it, because it’s too good not to be able to play it myself. A true gem of a solo, indeed!
I saw Bryan Adams (with Keith Scott) in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1983 when he was doing a universities tour. It cost me $4. Who would have imagined? I recognize the guitar. As a guitarist I thought, “Wow… that’s really beaten up.”
Mr. Keith Scott is one of the best guitar players ever. Every melody he plays is exactly what you need to hear; bendings, vibrating, timing, and all of the techniques he uses make absolutely perfect taste of listenable music and solos which you cannot find everywhere. He is a solo master. 🎸💖
His guitar playing is amazing, always Melodic, he's one of the best with Page and Gilmour for the bending and the feeling. Always fun to try to play his guitar solo and reproduce his sounds.
Mauricio Vazquez Behind the rideout solo on Do I Have to Say the Words, the outro to Cuts Like a Knife would be a very close second on my top favorite KS solos. Just incredibly melodic and impeccably composed. For a pop song, it’s hard to improve on that. The two sections in the solo where he basically climbs all the way up the neck and ends on those screaming bends (once almost at the very end of the fade out) just makes me weak in the knees. And that subtle whammy bar dive in the trill on the first solo...what a great touch! I wish I had half the ear for melodic improvisation that Keith Scott has. Amazing player, and too often overlooked.
Nicest guy ever and always has been. I saw Keith with Bryan Adams on August 17th 1985 in Spokane Washington when I was 21 and he was about 31 and he was quite the Rockstar in all leather up on the stage. The next day I drove to Seattle area to be with my girlfriend and I was walking through South center Mall and I see kind of a short guy of course I'm 6-4 and he had a Bryan Adams t-shirt on and shorts and I thought that's the guy from last night so I approached him very meekly and he confirmed that he was with the Bryan Adams band and was super friendly and started asking me questions about myself like where I was from did I enjoy the show what's my name kind of surprised me. Totally down-to-earth despite having a gorgeous woman on his arm who looked like she didn't want to give me the time of day. We chatted briefly and he was the nicest guy and they played the Tacoma dome that night.
Guess this little bit is only a part of what was recorded, right? Would the rest be released at some point? It's not many videos of Keith's gear you'll find online! Would be really nice to actually see that in a video :-) Cheers!
Exactly - and it's a great shame! Keith has an amazing guitar tone and is such a great player! I've been a big fan since forever and I love all the guitar parts he creates! Maybe we'll see something in the future, who knows! I would definitely like to see more like this! :-)
Keith wrote a detailed rundown on all his gear for his Official Fan page... Its really detailed. facebook.com/theauthorisedkeithscottfanclub/posts/1194860947232631
Your solo on Everything i do i do it for you cannot be matched.ive tried.yr Gods chosen Bryan Adams 80s electric genius.you have emotions in your every note
Always loved Keith's playing, especially on "{Everything I Do} I Do it For You." I use the Boss Digital Delay and just bought the Super Overdrive to boost my solos. They are made to last gig after gig!!
That's very interesting. I've listen to Bryan Adams a lot since I discovered his songs in 2006 or something and I always had Summer of 69 and Run To You in my head. But today, I got the same opinion as Keith about the song "Into the fire". It's a killer song and to me it's the most authentic song BA has ever made in terms of feel.
If BOSS is good enough for Keith Scott and Prince, it's good enough for me, lol. Love that philosophy of simple and effective. Let's face it, it's all about how you play and what chops you have.
Last night in Stockholm your guitar equipment let you down man ; Summer of 69 you played 'air'. (laughing) I waited all my life to see you play that lead (I play too) and damn. Great show.
Keith's phrasing is one of the best in the business and there are ALOT of great guitarists and I'd put Keith and his sound up there, no doubt about it.
Keith Scott is what every musician should strive for. Guy has tone for decades... and incredible lead guitar solo chops. Throw him a guitar, and he'll rapidly show you how to get the most out of it, simply by playing it, and flipping a few odd switches, and then making a few adjustments to amp and pedal. He's matter of fact about it. No ego, just the desire to get the most out of whatever he's playing on, and through. It's all in a day's work for this guy. I have mad respect, for Scott's ability, and the fact that none of his success has gone to his head. Best of all, he gives credit, where credit is due. Bryan Adams is good at that, too. Both gentlemen are really big, on making sure that the contributing players to their recording and touring successes become recognized for their contributions. I love the fact, that Keith is more than willing to talk shop, with people he just met. Amp settings, pickup selections, amps and pedals used... A lot of guitar players keep that information close, and clam up when asked about it. Keith Scott has never been like that. As a guitarist, this guy can keep up with the best there is, and never bat an eye... I've listened to his work, ever since the "Cuts Like A Knife" record was cut, again with Bob Clearmountain producing and doing the studio tech work. When I heard the first song off of that record, I could remember thinking "MAN, that lead guitarist's tone, is just phenomenal...!" Keith has definitely been a great case study, in wringing the most tone from any Strat, Tele, or Gibson L/P... That being said? Keith's guitar selections have all been winners. All classics, no "trendy" or "new-wave" guitars for this guy. If it isn't well made, then he simply doesn't play it. That goes double for his pedal selections, and his amplification equipment.
Keith is the man. Criminally overlooked guitarist, and one of my favorites.
Wow, that's awesome! You are so lucky!
Goddamn Right - One of the Most UNDER-RATED Lead Guitarists EVER!!
He's exactly what a lead guitarist should be, make a song more melodic and he's the best at that.
Here here ! Keith is a monster guitarist. Agreed it's unfortunate he is overlooked.

I can say and relate EXACTLY the same. His sound live is phenomenal, and I never seen anyone sounding THAT good on a live arena show(s)
Just saw him with Bryan 2 nights ago. His tone (& playing) were flawless. Big believer in BOSS products as well 👍
Thank you for your post. I totally agree. I think Keith is so underrated because of the genre. Massive and heavy on reckless, sofisticated on Into the fire then followed the pop era of his friend Bryan.

Bollocks
I' ve been touring with one of Ireland' s biggest bands ever and played with Bruce S. Also spent some studiotime with Madonna and Sting. I like Boss to. But I' m also into Gucci and Versace.
He is Legend. Most people don't realize...the Contribution this guy has made. All those amazing melodies and guitar parts and solos'......THIS GUY>

This guy is my favourite guitarist, he has some of the greatest guitar solos that people over look... Keith Scott is my inspiration..
Elisico Ellis Yes I totally agree, very simple and yet powerful loaded of emotion and feeling. And of course he has great tone!
Agree 👍
One of the most tasty guitar players when it comes to licks and phrasing.
Your melodic soloing on “Heaven” still hits me after all these years.
that strat was stunning
Keith is hugely underated. He's one of the most tasteful guitarists of the last 35 years. A Premier Guitar full rig rundown of Keith and Bryan is long overdue!
I agree with you in every single word. That solo from Do I Have to Say the Words is just mind blowin'!
YES! It is overdue!
1996, MTV unplugged. I saw him chicken pick on "Think about you" and those banjo rolls on guitar was what led me to pick guitar in the first place. I admire many guitarists, but Keith Scott will always have a special place in my heart.
Agree completely.
Tasty player. Great chops.
Absolutely ridiculously good Vibrato
Thank you boss! Keith finally got his recognation on the media
Seen Bryan and Keith in Cardiff Castle last Monday, what an incredible guitarist and performer Keith is.
One of the most under appreciated guitar players of all time.. Keith scott is a genius..
Keith is such a great player who plays with feeling in every song that you can truly feel an hear!!
Soulful guitarist , exceptional !
Keith Scott, what a legend. Absolutely love KS, great guitar player 👌🎸

Hugely underrated. Love Keith’s guitar play and that special sound.
Such a Great Guitarist; And a nice person
When a guitarist like Marty Friedman says Keith Scott is great, that’s good enough for me!
One of my alltime favorite guitar players! Plays for the song with a lot of heart and soul.
Keith is such a nice fella , and his guitar playing input never seems to be praised enough he is a fantastic smooth player Love ya Mark x

Best guitarist you didn’t know. Such an iconic sound
man, you rarely see any rigrundowns from bryan and his band....thanks for this little insight!
I met him at the BA get up tour, Keith was super cool guy! I just loved him, keep rocking Mr. KS
simply the most underrated guitarist in the world.
Probably my favorite guitarist
Keith makes his axe burn on One Night Love Affair. Just smokin playing. Totally underrated guitarist.
Using the classics! I have a few of those pedals tucked away somewhere, this makes me want to pull them out & 'rediscover' them
Love your guitar work Keith, some beautifull riffs and mesmerising chord work that gives a song good credence and feel.
One of greats!..love me some Keith Scott!
A great player. My favorite is "Cuts Like A Knife". Especially the fading ride-out.

What about all those melodic pentatonic riffs and lead lines in “It’s Only Love”?
Top, top guitarist!
one of my all time top 5 guitar players !!!

It's not many videos of Keith's gear you'll find online!
Would be really nice to actually see that in a video :-)
Cheers!
That's true, actually on the hole internet it's hard to find information about keith or his gear!
Exactly - and it's a great shame! Keith has an amazing guitar tone and is such a great player!
I've been a big fan since forever and I love all the guitar parts he creates!
Maybe we'll see something in the future, who knows!
I would definitely like to see more like this! :-)

I'd love to know which classical guitar he uses.
2:00 the stickers to show best presets!! Awesome!! Best underrated Canadian guitarist like Alex Lifeson!
Great insight into Keith Scott, an amasing guitarist.. also I was surprised to see Stephen Seagal working as his guitar tech there at 1:01
Finally saw Bryan Adams, Keith Scott and kick ass band in Singapore January 2016..amazing gig, bucket list check!
Great musicians..He is the master of melodies..🎸❤
I saw him couple of weeks ago in Salzburg, he is the man ... absolutely fantastic player.
Keith is Boss! Awesome guitarist!
Saw Keith play live, he can shred when he really wants to!
These are legends who made my teenage phase, still loves the band
Esse cara tá até hoje trabalhando com Bryan Adams, isso quer dizer, que os dois são pessoas maravilhosas...
Rocked in Bangalore today 🤘🏼
Awesome dude. Right up there with Lifeson and Rik Emmitt.
Keith is in the top ten of 'UNSUNG GUITAR HEROES'....even shredder Marty Friedman praises him
When you hear the guitar solo on "Cuts Like a Knife" most musicians will want to find out who played it. Classic!
Your solo on Everything i do i do it for you cannot be matched.ive tried.yr Gods chosen Bryan Adams 80s electric genius.you have emotions in your every note

Super talent
He sounds near perfect live.
LEGEND
2 days late but happy birthday to this man
When will we have the full version of this video Roland?
Keith Scott мы тебя очень любим. Ты гениален!
Always loved Keith's playing, especially on "{Everything I Do} I Do it For You." I use the Boss Digital Delay and just bought the Super Overdrive to boost my solos. They are made to last gig after gig!!
Back in the 70's a friend suggested we go to a bar in Vancouver to see a band with "The Best Guitarist...." for sure Keith was!
King👑
That's very interesting. I've listen to Bryan Adams a lot since I discovered his songs in 2006 or something and I always had Summer of 69 and Run To You in my head. But today, I got the same opinion as Keith about the song "Into the fire". It's a killer song and to me it's the most authentic song BA has ever made in terms of feel.
Well when Eddie Van Halen says you are one of his favourite guitarists...you gotta be good. 👍
He’s incredible
HE IS OLAY GUITAR SO SMOOTH AND CLEAR.
BUT WHY HE IS SO UNDERRATED..
The negative wiring to set up a humbucker effect on the '63 is pure genius.
Underrated guitar player. Love his fills and solos they make the songs for Brian….and Brian knows it lol
You're my Idol Keith! :D
Killer Guitar Player rite there
If BOSS is good enough for Keith Scott and Prince, it's good enough for me, lol. Love that philosophy of simple and effective. Let's face it, it's all about how you play and what chops you have.
Into The Fire.....the last brilliant BA album
Class A guitarist. We cover a couple Bryan Adams tunes and i can say his solos are top shelf!
1:01 I have the same shirt as the guy on the right!
El mejor.
Last night in Stockholm your guitar equipment let you down man ; Summer of 69 you played 'air'. (laughing) I waited all my life to see you play that lead (I play too) and damn. Great show.
Really? That's so bad! Poor Keith.
Best guitarist ever ❤
Keith is the best guitarist, ive heard, and frankly i think Bryan's songs wouldnt really matter without keith guitar sounds.
i bought som ebooks with lace knitting things for a table nd round napkins and more
He is so cute and wonderfully talented.
Keith's phrasing is one of the best in the business and there are ALOT of great guitarists and I'd put Keith and his sound up there, no doubt about it.
