Keith Scott is one of the most tasteful guitarists ever. Everything he plays is to compliment the song, never to show off his chops. So under rated in my opinion
Reckless is such a great album I'll tell you something Keith Scott is one of those underrated guitarists that never got his due. The real guitar players know him
This. Totally. Along with Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Chris Hayes from Huey Lewis and the News. Such great guitarists that played just what the tune needed.
I first saw bryan back in the 90s during the waking up the neighbours tour and had seen him at MSG for a z100 benefit with Def Leppard Richard Marx and then had seen him with def Lepp during their baseball stadium tour in 2005. I was front row as close to the stage as you could get. Great memories. Not only did I get a phill collen guitar pick that he threw at me, I also happened to see a tour bus where bryan was sitting at the front eating his Chinese food and also signing for fans. He was actually nice enough to take the time to sign his program for me…I have loved his music since I first heard cuts like a knife and this time come out on MTV. Those were the days when music really kicked serious ass 😊. Bryan and def Lepp actually are two of my all time favorites. Thanks for the upload.
The last time I saw, Brian Adams was in an outside amphitheater. His last set he sat in the front of the stage. Did the entire set on an acoustic guitar probably the best concert sequence I’ve seen in my life. I’m 61 years old. Saw my first live show in 1975 age 12.
BA had finished their electric set at Luna Park (Buenos Aires Argentina 2010). With the acoustic already on, I shouted Summer of 69, he paused, took out the acoustic, put on the electric guitar and Summer of 69 played...un Maestro!!!
Brian Adams one of my favourite rock singers ,like all his songs the grizzly voice my favourite song ,Summer of 69 written in my beloved Portugal ,that I miss so much ,thanks for the great lesson video, maybe more Adams acoustic to if possible ,for the less rich guitar players 😂😂😂
Cool lesson dude. So simple but so effective…..I remember falling in love with this song when I first heard it in high school. He wrote some cool cool stuff.
Awesome tone on this as well as 0:29 - 0:37 very cool. My fun fact, My 16 year old grandson asked me today If I've ever heard the song JUMP by Van Halen. He also told me that he added the song Free Falin' to his play list so I had him listen to my favorite Tom Petty song Even The Losers
You asked…Fun Fact: My wife and I are in the Bryan Adams’ video for “Somebody” from the Reckless album, which was released in 1984. The video was recorded live at Massy Hall in Toronto. Bonus fun fact. The band played the song twice in a row and the video was recorded on actual film with Panavision motion picture cameras. Great concert, wonderful memories. Still happily married to the same beautiful woman.
That’s cool! We were in the audience at the Orpheum Theater in Vancouver when they filmed the Kids Wanna Rock video. I couldn’t see us in the video, but I couldn’t get the song out of my head for days as they played it numerous times when filming it.
Learnt to play this in 1985 along with all of the Reckless Album. I played an Ibanez RS525 (Stanley Jordan) which I still have today into a Vox Escort 30 amp. Sounds good on my Ibanez RS430 Black 1985 from Back to The Future pin heads audition. Now use a Peavey Vypyr 75 which gives me all the 1980's sounds in one box.
I would not have thought to learn this one but you are right it’s a great song with excellent guitar parts. Thank you. And my fun fact is very random but I played in a pickup basketball game with lebron james when lebron was 15 yrs old and I was 25. I was in college at Akron U at the time. Lebron was a captain, picked me first and we completely destroyed the other team. :)
Yep, an absolute great song, and so harmonically rich. Your tone is spot on for this song - it is gritty. I noticed you tab the actual fret numbers and NOT tab relative to the capo and name the actual pitch chord names regardless of the capo. The solo with 'sus4' chords is very, very clever. Good lesson. My fun fact - yes, I liked Bryan Adams with a great rockin' band but I'm a Tom Petty guy at heart.
This is awesome, thank you Marty! I've always loved the intricate things you teach with EVH songs, even Def Leppard and i watched your Still of the Night video! I'm not that good and I should practice more I know... lol. This is cool I wish I could play it right now! But my Capo is at my Sweeties house argh. And she loves Bryan Adams and I want to practice before work. Time! Gn gotta work in the morning ❤ you 5150
I had second row tickets to his concert at the Omni in Atlanta in May 16 of 1987. I had seen REO Spedwagon there the week before on May 9th. My tickets were in a Budweiser envelope (from Turtles Records & Tapes) and lying on my dresser. My mom knowing that I had gone to see REO threw my envelope with BA tickets away. My dad bought replacement tickets. We sat on the very top row of the Omni… it’s like from first to worst!
Bryan Adams rocks, but I always liked Billy Squier just a bit more. Would love for you to teach The Big Beat, Lonely Is The Night, the Stroke, Everybody Wants You, etc!
Put a little stubble on your guitar... Too cool, man!! And Keith Scott's lead lines were always understated and perfect for the songs, imo. Great tone, too. And thanks for giving us all the variations and letting us hear how they sound.
My fun fact. I ended up on MTV, alas, not with a guitar but with a lightsaber as Obiwan on the day of the premiere of episode 3. Great tutorial as always. It's a lot easier to play with a capo on. Thanks again.
Great tutorial. Only thing I think you missed is a different chord at the end of the 2nd guitar “solo” repeat. It’s a C# minor of some sort. I really appreciate you showing the proper rhythm arpeggio. Now to learn it the proper way!
Like some other lessons I've seen on this song online, you've chosen to omit the third chord in the bridge/pre-chorus section. D9, E5... then what is the guitar playing in that next bit before they hit the chorus itself? Is it only bass and/or keyboards that play there? I've seen all sorts of versions and was wondering what your take would be on it as the rest of your lesson is excellent.
Fun fact: my brother and I are in the video There will never be another tonight, alongside about 1000 other people 😂. Filmed after the gig in Sheffield, UK.
Saw Brian early 90s in Portland Maine ... Mr. Big before Brian.. Too Funny!!! Paul Gilbert with his glo in dark Ibanez... Strange 🤔 However, the women simply melt over Brian songs !!!😊😊😊
Keith Scott is one of the most tasteful guitarists ever. Everything he plays is to compliment the song, never to show off his chops. So under rated in my opinion
Bollocks
Reckless is such a great album
I'll tell you something Keith Scott is one of those underrated guitarists that never got his due.
The real guitar players know him
...yes an unsung hero for sure
This. Totally. Along with Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Chris Hayes from Huey Lewis and the News. Such great guitarists that played just what the tune needed.
Kieth Scott is still Bryan’s lad guitarist to today, Also Bryan plays what the fans want ,,, a real treat to go to!
Great song, takes me back to high school. Thanks for the great lesson, can’t wait to play it.
It is a great song!
Most all of Brian’s songs are great song.
(It’s Only Love) another great example
Great teaching. All Adams albums are really awesome. Reckless and Cut Like a Knife albums are definitely at my top ten albums that I love every track.
Always loved the reverb on this tune - gives it a real haunting ghostly vibe 🎸🎛🎶
Agreed! 😎
the whole record has some killer reverb on it
@ericnelson5602 I don't think it's a Hall reverb tho... might be a Plate reverb that was popular back then IDK...
@@Ranch5150SkinWalkerI also like Cut's like a knife but prefer the acoustic version.
Awesome playing and Lesson-Thanks!
You're very welcome
Nicely done getting the arpeggio transcribing right. 👍
One of the greatest rock ballads of all time.
............... love the intro to this song ...................
Got to see Bryan last year on tour in Alberta Canada . Amazing show.
Great lesson! Great song. Fun to learn.
Love your synopsis at the end and the little extra info in between parts.
Thank you for a great video!
Marty I look forward to your weekly videos and live practicing all the tunes you post.
Great stuff keep in coming.
Excellent lesson... Thanks for posting this classic Adams track. 🎸
One of my favourite riffs and so simple to play on guitar - effective yet sounds amazing.
My band played a lot of Bryan Adam's! Great songs and pretty easy to play! Thanks Marty 🤘
Yeh simplistic but dead in great songs!
man, wonderul tone on that Tele and super playing! Great lesson (all bases covered) Thank you.
Always one of my favorite artists!
I first saw bryan back in the 90s during the waking up the neighbours tour and had seen him at MSG for a z100 benefit with Def Leppard Richard Marx and then had seen him with def Lepp during their baseball stadium tour in 2005. What an incredible album! I remember when it came out, Run to You was absolutely one of my favorites and still is. Good Times
It's my favorite from the album. That intro is magic
The last time I saw, Brian Adams was in an outside amphitheater. His last set he sat in the front of the stage. Did the entire set on an acoustic guitar probably the best concert sequence I’ve seen in my life. I’m 61 years old. Saw my first live show in 1975 age 12.
Heat of the night is one of my all time favorite songs. I think Bryan Adams is very underrated.
Love your teaching style & knowledge.Thankyou
You're very welcome! 😁
Love me some Brian Adams, Run To You!!!
Great job on the video and thank you for all the stuff you do.
BA had finished their electric set at Luna Park (Buenos Aires Argentina 2010). With the acoustic already on, I shouted Summer of 69, he paused, took out the acoustic, put on the electric guitar and Summer of 69 played...un Maestro!!!
Fantastic!
Very good with explaining all your music tuition .👍👍👍
Thank you so much for this lesson, Marty!
Great driving song. Now I need to practice that intro.
Good to see plenty of love here from fellow Keith Scott fans!
Fun fact: love Bryan Adams... never seen him live... going to see him in Vegas in March! Also, Reckless is one of the best albums of all time.
Cool video. You should do It’s Only Love by Bryan Adams and Tina Turner. I’ve always liked the guitar work in that song.
Nice job showing all that and explaining it.
New appreciation for the song. Thanks man
Righteous lesson. Thanks.
Very welcome!
Io amo questa canzone da morire, grazie per questo video👍🏻🎸💯💪🏻
Brian Adams one of my favourite rock singers ,like all his songs the grizzly voice my favourite song ,Summer of 69 written in my beloved Portugal ,that I miss so much ,thanks for the great lesson video, maybe more Adams acoustic to if possible ,for the less rich guitar players 😂😂😂
Great lesson! Just wish I could sing like Bryan 😀
Cool lesson dude. So simple but so effective…..I remember falling in love with this song when I first heard it in high school. He wrote some cool cool stuff.

killer song > nice lesson as usual Marty
Thanks! Glad you dug it. 😎🎸

I'm a huge fan of Bryan Adams as well. He has written so many great songs.

good lesson. Thanks great song
Just discovered your channel great lesson
Nice explanation sir. I got part of that first time
I would not have thought to learn this one but you are right it’s a great song with excellent guitar parts. Thank you. Man I subscribed just because you dig Bryan Adams. 👏
Yep, an absolute great song, and so harmonically rich. Your tone is spot on for this song - it is gritty. Thanks so much. I totally dig Perty as well. I really love Wild Flowers. That album resonates with my soul. 🙏
Put a bit of stubble on it. Brilliant 🙂👍

Thanks Marty. Not scary any more.
Great song...we did it in our cover band...
Great lesson!
You nailed it....thank you
13:46 - This thing's got it all.....indeed. One of BA's most complete songs music wise.
Great sound! I would love it if you could run down your rig setup on these sessions.
He should be in the Hall of Fame. Along with Phill Collins & Rory Gallahger
They're all better off staying well clear of that shitshow.
RORY is a tragedy. Cradle Rock live makes him eligible on it's own. Not to mention his volume of work. JMO.
I had second row tickets to his concert at the Omni in Atlanta in May 16 of 1987. I had seen REO Spedwagon there the week before on May 9th. Great song! Great job man! What about a lesson with "Heroes" by David Bowie? God Bless you! João Carlos from Brazil!
Great idea
there is a harmony guitar part to that last lead part excellent video thx
Really like Bryan Adams band.
Bryan Adams rocks, but I always liked Billy Squier just a bit more. Would love for you to teach The Big Beat, Lonely Is The Night, the Stroke, Everybody Wants You, etc!
My fun fact is I’m a huge Todd Rundgren fan, I think hes amazing. Cheers from Canada.
Nice. Thanks man!!! 😎🎸
One of the best Bryan wrote.
Put a little stubble on your guitar...
Too cool, man!!
And Keith Scott's lead lines were always understated and perfect for the songs, imo. Great tone, too.
And thanks for giving us all the variations and letting us hear how they sound.
Just don’t lend out your Telecasters 😂 Great sound
If YOU DONT KNOW ME BY NOW.....SIMPLY RED
...Favorite Song Ever
My fun fact. I ended up on MTV, alas, not with a guitar but with a lightsaber as Obiwan on the day of the premiere of episode 3.
Great tutorial as always. It's a lot easier to play with a capo on. Thanks again.

So basically, 5 o’clock shadow. Got it. 🤘🏻
Fun fact. Discovered The Warning. Best rock band to show up in decades
My fun fact is that I have a collection of 117 guitars, and I love the beach boys/surf music in general alongside the 80s hair bands.
My fun fact. I really liked most of the new wave stuff from early MTV. Don't you dare tell anybody! Anyway I was also screaming Halen!
Same here man. You're not alone!!
Great video. He used a strat in the original recording, right? And Im assuming he was in position 1?
Yeh it sure sounds like a strategy position one! 😎🤘
Great tutorial. Which model is that Tele?
Yea I was wondering what brand/model Single coil bridge pickup that is?
Always did like Brian Adams. I also like Megadeth and Dwight Yoakam.
The guitar in Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl got into guitars as kid
Like some other lessons I've seen on this song online, you've chosen to omit the third chord in the bridge/pre-chorus section. D9, E5... then what is the guitar playing in that next bit before they hit the chorus itself? Is it only bass and/or keyboards that play there? I've seen all sorts of versions and was wondering what your take would be on it as the rest of your lesson is excellent.
I love the tone I think it’s better than the recording
Fun fact, Ronnie Montrose does one of THE best solos in history on Voyager, with the band Gamma
Ooh what’s the song Brian sang with Tina Turner? I can’t remember the name of it! Great lesson brother
No ! That was 'Its only love'.
Fun fact: my brother and I are in the video There will never be another tonight, alongside about 1000 other people 😂. Filmed after the gig in Sheffield, UK.
I'm so bad on the guitar someone said to me one time "Can you play 'Far Far Away and Over Hill?"
😂
Saw Brian early 90s in Portland Maine ... Mr. Big before Brian.. Too Funny!!! Paul Gilbert with his glo in dark Ibanez... Strange 🤔 However, the women simply melt over Brian songs !!!😊😊😊
Fun fact - I once saw Nuno Bettencourts Extreme support Bryan Adams at Wembley Stadium (1992) - quite the gig…
Fun fact. I play with Pat Badger from Extreme and he told me about that tour. 🤓
Fun fact: I like to listen to Abba when I'm feeling a little down. Please don't tell anyone, especially not my metal friends.
Lol. There are a lot of closeted Abba fans. 😮
Bran Adam's and a tele = SUB !!
are those bass frets on that Tele?
I have a challenge for you Marty:
Source Of Infection
Fun tune!!!
But to play it? 😮
👍
not sure about that slide note you play on the intro?
How's your amp set?
its ok WE ALL love BA..
One little thing isn't right.
The third chord of the intro has to begin a pointed note earlier with a slide.
I still play this without a capo…sounds just the same…my classic studies stretching. And it’s Fm7
It's only played a bit faster to save space on the LP but it was down to E. Namastè.
