- In this full-length interview, legendary music promoter (and former member of the infamous Supreme Team) sits down with DJ Vlad to talk about growing up in an impoverished household with six siblings and the influential role that drugs played in their family dynamic. The Queens street legend also sheds light on his father's tumultuous relationship with the mob and what led to his death. From there, he talks about his older sister took up the mantle, in order to help raise Bimmy and the rest of their siblings by working three jobs all at once.
As the conversation continues, he looks back on getting kicked out of the family household by his mother and getting into the drug game which eventually led to him working with the drug lord known as Supreme. From there, he talks about getting locked up, getting released from prison, becoming a Christian, and eventually transitioning from a drug dealer to one of the most visionary A&R reps to have ever worked at Def Jam. He also recounts working with the likes of Method Man, Slick Rick, and LL Cool J before explaining why he regrets having sold drugs in his younger days.
Bimmy's comments on grace and Christian values saving him is soooooo true. My brother and I grew up across the street from 40 projects in South Side in the 80's - down the street from the Rib Shack Cafe on Linden Blvd. It was like the Wild Wild West when the Crack Bomb went off in 1985. So many of our contemporaries/relatives/friends are dead or still in jail. We remember seeing Bimmy rock his Fedora and his C Class Mercedes and watching Deb rule parks off the Van Wyck. 50 Cent (Boo Boo as we knew him in the 'hood) Mom Sabrina used to catch the Q60 on Sutphin Blvd with us. My brother and I often ask ourselves why we survived when so many did not. We believe the armor of God protected us as we stayed true to our Christian faith and we had so many others praying for us. During that time, Black Muslims kept telling us that Christianity was the "White man's" religion but if you study Christian history, you will find that the oldest Christian churches were in Ethiopia and that there were Black Popes. Even the Patron Saint of Christianity in Europe was an Black Ethiopian named Maurice. My brother and I went to a Holiness church in Rosedale on Sunday and came out on Wednesday. We hated it at the time but we now realize how blessed we were to be covered by the grace of God.
Damn I remember those days I lived off Sutphin Blvd on 148 Street last time I was home I was on Q60 headed to Bronx to do some Graphic Design work for a client I remember Deb's Boys caught with my Boys Older Brother and began beating his ass in the driveway of my Grandparents house I remember coming home and mother telling me how she stopped the beat down My young ass flipping out tell my mom she should not have got involved because she was straight laced had no idea that those were wolves
That is a pretty wild story I enjoyed it I'm sure you and your brother have many that I would love to hear I know there was a lot of negativity but I love that that error my generation was right after that in the 90s but I felt like I knew it a little bit as well and definitely knew it from the bigger Hustlers above us I'm not trying to disrespect religion my family is very delicious as well but it is been hard for me because it's never really felt it in my heart since I can remember but I definitely agree with religion giving people something to live for and to live by as far as morals and principle Live Life by I agree with it as far for everybody that it has helped and continue to help stay straight and has the moral but I have always felt that I could live righteous and respectful of others just by living off of the Golden Rule and by knowing right from wrong even though I have not always done right I guess none of us are perfect I appreciate your words and your story have a good night
It’s crazy when I hear these stories because. I grew up on 120th Guy R Brew in between Baisley and Rochdale. It’s almost a surreal feeling that stories and people from our hood are internationally known. It’s like damn, I remember when this shit was going on and personally knew a lot of them involved.
It is a white mans religion. Modern Christianity derives from Catholicism. Martin Luther and followers broke away from the church and created the Protestant movement. Frumentious brought the ideology of Christianity to Ethiopia which in turn the King made that the religion of the land to avoid any conflict from European invasion. Many countries surrounding Ethiopia were battling Europeans and Ethiopia decided to not engage.
Ancient Kemet is the blueprint for all religion known today. The ancient Kemetyu, Nubians, Sumerians, Phoenicians, etc. were NOT Christian. “Christ” is not an afrikan word.
There’s also over 2000 Christ like savior stories that pre date any Christian relic or artifact. I’d suggest you pick up a history book and study.
@@jaylenhall7318 You should read “The Great Controversy” it is a complete history book of the world and religion from the beginning of the world.
He narrates a story so well from 40 years ago, I can barely remember what happened last week😫
Bimmy is smart. He controlled the interview and the entire time, telling stories and evading certain questions.
Vlad never asked or said some outta pocket shit that needed to be controlled this is just two dudes having a conversation
@@mopar_keysyes he did, he asked him about the tear drops on his face. Vlad knows exactly what they represent
This interview is one of Vlads best. This dude is classic.
I see this statement in every one of Vlad's video 😃😃😃😃😃

He’s “classic” 🤨
REALEST INTERVIEW EVER..PEACE TO BIMMY..FOR SURVIVING AND CHANGING HIS LIFE..
This comment!
This was an excellent interview, Bimmy is a natural story teller that captivates the audience. You could feel him when he was talking about food, the juices and the chicken patties; it made me think of Ghost Face Killa's "All that I got is you". I grew up in the ghettos of Staten Island and back in the 70's and 80's free lunch was popping hard in the summer. When Reagan came to office alot of the programs that served the city youth were eradicated. This interview brought back childhood memories of growing up in NYC.
He still told preme prince troy.......
Bimmy conveys his life in such a way that it is entertaining yet there are real lessons to take from it!! He's brilliant, real and inspirational!! I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation.
Bimmy Gangster your first Def Jam is a Busta rhymes and T.i
Bimmy gon mess it up for preme to flip his case 😂
"Lessons?" Like don't sell drugs? Don't hang out with king pins? Don't go to prison? You should've known those "lessons" at 7 yrs old. Nothing brilliant about that.
I fell asleep watching this interview. And woke up to finish it. Bimmy, you are a gem. God bless you.
Same lol
Yuup lol
Same here
He's such a likable dude... great interview.
I could listen to stories from Bimmy all day. He just got that personality that's interesting. Plus he seems like a stand up guy.
🔥🔥🔥 All facts str8 @classicpak 🏄♂️
Me too frfr💯💯💯💯
What’s so cool about a criminal telling how he took part in the destruction of his community with drugs. Y’all (BLM) should be protesting for his arrest and prosecution same way we like to protest against police all the time.

Bimmy a solid dude. Really enjoy all his interviews.. one story that stuck out how 3 lives were lost over $1000. (2 dead 1 in prison for life) the ego truly is the enemy of man..

Love hearing the OG's build. Being a BK dude I only knew about Supreme, Fat Cat, Pappy Mason. I'm just now getting up on the other dudes that was part of that world. Salute Queens niggas and I'm Glad u made it out Bimmy. Stay blessed.
Good story. The only part I was looking sideways at was when he said he called his Grandma on his father's side up and asked her to put the house up for collateral. A lot of times in the hood the house is the only major asset people own. I probably would've thought the same way as Bimmy when I was younger but now that I'm older I understand the grandmother's perspective.
Yeah that's how I felt also he can't still be mad at grandma he should be able to understand now he's a grown man
Very intelligent analogy 👌
Finally dropping this interview fully can't wait to hear it
The fact that Whitney and Bobby bailed him out is legend
I said the same shit while at work..
Bra his whole life is he went from preme team to anr of Sony on tour with run DMC what didn't this dude do
“I wonder did he really exist” that hits deep for a lot of young kids growing up…
Great interview Vlad. These are the kind of interviews that can teach and inspire those young people out there actin a fool to do right. 😊 Thanks keep it up.
It’s glad not vlad 😂
i was waiting for this one i purposely didnt watch none of the million uploads before the full interview lol
I love the stories about Queens and it's OG's. There's always one in the crew that gets spared to tell the story being free while the others are dead or doing years in the hundreds. I like that he realizes his mistakes and wants to give back to the communities. 👍 Great interview! Props to Vlad!!
The griot
I’m from Queens but grew up on the north side but I seen how crazy it was whenever I went to Jamaica to go sneaker shopping. After seeing this interview and how he talks about Supreme there really is something about how dudes from Queens moved and had a certain mentality back in the day. You don’t know unless you from NYC and came up during those times.
The story about their dad’s death is horrible. I’ve watched many interviews between Bimmy and Deb. I cannot recall hearing that story. 💔 God bless all widows and orphans. Big hugs and love to all in Jesus name. Thanks for sharing your story, Bimmy.
Vlad doesn't interview he tells the story of people's lives and the interviewee just fills in.
He does his research
Vlad kill me with them long pauses 😂 “…..ok” 😂
Shitt scary..
Might be a delay on his mic the feds gotta catch every word 😂
Bimmy reminds me of 50cent. Cuts straight to the bone with his answers. Leaves you no avenue to get lost or wonder which way to go. Great interviewee

Big ups to “The Legendary” Bimmy. Thx for sharing your journey and giving us a better snapshot of Queens in that fly era. Legendary
This interview proves that it’s who you know not what you know more than anything.
