I know for a fact that 90% of the Hellraiser films would have ended if the average person got it. They'd try to solve it and fail and then just put it on one of those Rubix Cube stands

Saw 5 minutes of this at 11 yrs old "accidentally". Traumatized by the flesh for 20 years. This review is a safe and charismatic way to watch the whole movie.
I watched Hellraiser: Bloodline when I was 11. Rented it from my local library; they apparently gave zero cares about a child renting an R-Rated movie. XD It messed me up so bad when I first saw it... I swore Pinhead and the Cenobites were hiding out under my bed for like a year after seeing the movie. XD
¿and what about burnedhead,,hockeyhead,,palehead,,,?the lead-cenobite in this movie is not any horror idol and like the other cenobites are secondary characters the bady and the monster is frank cotton,,horror idol its about all the bastard secuels that i ignore....
The HillBilly Barker actually never even liked the name Pinhead, the makeup crew came up with it and it was never in the original script. Barker thought it was an “unsuitable” name for the character. He’s officially simply named “lead Cenobite” or “Priest”
Oh new bee you’re so gosh darn funny. You make me laugh non stop during these vids. I’m so happy I found your channel. I’ve had hours of entertainment because of you man. Thank you for putting in so much work just to make us laugh. Much appreciated
My favorite movie and my favorite movie reviewer all in one! I have the lament configuration tattooed (poorly) on my hand. I chose it as at one point in my life, I could identify so strongly with that blurred line between pleasure and pain that dwells at the door of torment and relief. Beyond the horror the driving forces of excess, addiction and love makes hellhound heart one of my absolute favorite books of all time. Also, Frank Cotton pre- Hooks can definitely get it. 🥰
I must have been a teenager when I first saw this and I'm in my mid 40s now and still get an icky feeling when I'm reminded of it! Very effective horror
"Kick it into a sewer." You sure about that NewBee? I remember this Papier-mâché boat went down into a sewer and a clown decided it was time to wake up and terrorize a town. I can't imagine what a clown would do with a puzzle box that contains eternal carnal pleasure.
So I'm rewatching this and I just now figured out something. I think the guy at the end buying the box is Dr. Lionel Ritchie! Now it could be that they couldn't find another actor for the last shot, but I think to think it's the psych ward doctor.
It's interesting seeing the differences between the book and the movie, some of which seem kinda arbitrary. "Larry" was originally "Rory", a stolid dependable sort and perfectly nice, but Julia had decided he was boring. Kirsty was originally a work friend of Rory's who was hopelessly in love with him but too timid to do anything about it. And Pinhead was... well, see for yourself: "Do you understand?" the figure beside the first speaker demanded. Its voice, unlike that of its companion, was light and breathy-the voice of an excited girl. Every inch of its head had been tattooed with an intricate grid, and at every intersection of horizontal and vertical axes a jeweled pin driven through to the bone. Its tongue was similarly decorated.
I never watched this as I thought it would be too icky , scarey for me . Your take on things made me giggle and realize that I really didn't miss much ... Your humor is STELLAR !
Until this video came out followed by the Dead By Daylight Hellraiser dlc, I spend my childhood into my mid-twenties with only the knowledge of there being a “nail-faced dude.” I had no idea about any of the plot. I thought “spike-head” was the only main villain, occasionally raising hell, and I never would’ve guessed that puzzle boxes, body snatching, and carnal pleasure would be a part of it
Demons to some Angels to others . That line describes the cenobites perfectly . Do they torture people yes do they enjoy their jobs . Yes but what's wrong with enjoying your work. You forget to mention that they have rules . Like they can only take people with unclean or tainted souls . But they can't harm or take innocent or pure souls . So they basically serve a purpose . They remove an tutor bad peaple only. Clive Barker's Boom comic series goes into this more . Along with the other Hellraiser comics . Case in point in one comic a child solved the puzzle box . The Hell Priest an his cenobites come he told them . Something like even if I wanted to take you I can't . Because you are pure an there are rules but then her abusive uncle . Heard her so he started to come . She bagged The Hell Priest to help her an not to let her uncle. Hit her again then The Hell Priest says something like . So you want he to stop your torture interesting. Then the uncle comes in sees the cenobites an . Says who are you the girl goes they are my Angels. Then her uncle never hit her again . End of story so they don't just take every one . There has to be some darkness in their soul . Or they are off limits to the cenobites .
Hellraiser officially turns 35! Still one of my favorite horror movies by Clive Barker, his directorial debut No idea it was based on a novella An eerie memorable score by Christopher Young, Doug Bradley does wonders playing the villainous Pinhead, and I love Ashley Laurence as Kirsty Expert makeup and gore effects too along the lines of David Cronenberg Explores the horrific boundaries between pleasure and pain Clumsily plotting aside it plays almost like a fever dream thanks to the editing It's also analyzes our collective fascination with and need for the pleasure of sex being tethered to either harrowing pain or new bodily discoveries one would think up while on an acid trip The film still has divided critics over time but it's the only good installment next to Hellraiser II All the other sequels have failed to match it I'm so glad I discovered the movie thanks to that Boogeyman compilation VHS Thankful another film is on its way to Hulu, I'm hoping it's good especially since Pinhead will be female this time
Fun fact: Some of the actors, including Frank Cotton's actor had their lines redubbed because they had strong English accents. That's why some of their lip syncing looks really off. Also the Engineer at the end of the movie was put together after a drunken weekend because Barker had run out of money for the movie.
I love your videos! I rarely catch the deeper meaning behind a movie, but your commentary shows me another layer of the movies and makes me appreciate them even more. How it is you don't have at least a million subscribers already?! Keep up the great work.
Okay, am I the only one who thinks the name Clive Barker is GREAT for TV and film? Just something about it. Reminds me of a comic book character or something. I can't help but say it in a dramatic voice
I only open the puzzle boxes in Dead by Daylight. It can stop the hooks, but it takes some time and QTEs AND CALLS PINHEAD TO YOU. The Cenobite player can choose to stay where they’re at, but they can just hop to you!

I finally read the book "the hell bound heart". Well I mean I listened to it on audible. Lol and I have to say. The book is just so much better. I really loved the visuals Clive Barker was able to illustrate with his words. I never knew the lead cenobite was originally female. This was definitely a difficult thing to put to film.

So I saw this movie for the first time at 41. I totally get how ground breaking it was at the time, for sure. But the thing that so stood out to me, now in 2020, was how VAGUE it is! The whole "other dimension" and "pleasure" and "pain" but none of the is specified. And maybe they needed to keep it general for ratings purposes, but for me, it really decreased much of the terror. Pah, quitters..
You can get Rubik's Cubes that are modeled after the Lament Configuration.
Honey, get the glue! I've solved it. And maybe a little glue for me too.
Please explain. I have only watched the first hellraiser movie and I would like to understand it more .

An eerie memorable score by Christopher Young, Doug Bradley does wonders playing the villainous Pinhead, and I love Ashley Laurence as Kirsty
Expert makeup and gore effects too along the lines of David Cronenberg
Explores the horrific boundaries between pleasure and pain
Clumsily plotting aside it plays almost like a fever dream thanks to the editing
It's also analyzes our collective fascination with and need for the pleasure of sex being tethered to either harrowing pain or new bodily discoveries one would think up while on an acid trip
The film still has divided critics over time but it's the only good installment next to Hellraiser II
