As for people saying "it just has random riffs all over the place" so what? They fit together perfectly, whats so wrong with adding some awesome riffs? To me it shows they got bored and wanted to get crazy so they basically released their full selves on this album.

I think the problem with Sabaton is that their songs are tied to certain historical events and people, and entire group is swedish. Kinda hard to write something unique in english language with that (and that's why their "Carolus Rex" in swedish is better than english version 100 times, not only in sound but lyrics too).

There's also the way they write their songs. They have said before that they make the music first and then write the lyrics. Apparently, they even have a list of unused songs waiting for a topic and lyrics. However, for the Swedish Carolus Rex album they wrote everything from scratch, that's another reason why is one of the best.

My take on the megadeth one: I feel like that the vocals are weird, yes, but they fit the songs extremely well with the tone Dave provides. Like in Symphony of Destruction, it sounded sinister and imo it improved the quality of the song. Plus even tho his vocals are a bit wacky, it can make for some incredibly funny "misheard lyrics" moments like in Symphony where you can almost hear "you try to take his bAaAlLs" rather than pulse is incredibly funny.
Also... Dave is kind of a meme figure for me, so it makes it even better. The video where he couldn't figure out how to stop the recording and the other one where he says "you do pull ups by holding unto *b a l l s* ?" kind of made me appreciate him a lot more in his songs/personality.
Anyways, I like your videos and personality. I hope you're having a good day. :).

all of deaths phases were amazing, except spiritual healing. Also Opeth did kinda drop songwriting quality after watershed but they made killer records since such as sorceress, plus Mikael doesn’t not wanna make those records anymore, he just doesn’t feel much writing inspiration from the death metal vocals which I can respect because they made some crazy amazing and complicated but beautiful riffs over the span of 20 years

I think the thing that absolutely baffles me with Ghost is how they changed their sound and I felt like the only person who stopped being a fan after that. Everything up to Meliora is amazing and sure it's all very catchy. But everything after that, I find it unbearable... it's like all the metal elements were gone and it was very poppy. Don't think I'll ever be able to get into new Ghost, but at least I have 3 great albums to enjoy.

I love dream theater and I really do like Mike Mangini. He is an amazing drummer. It's not the drumming talent they took a hit on it's the artistic vision. (Imo) Portnoy is a huge cinephile and I think that it really shows in the stuff he was involved in. The writing just wasn't the same after. Still like the new stuff though and I'm seeing JP in a few weeks
