Omg the low income schools are the worse I’m glad that those days over. A lot of times teachers only teach in those area to get their loans forgiven but then after that they all run. 🏃 and I don’t blame them. Teaching in the urban core still gives me nightmares the behaviors the disrespect the fighting. I’m so glad that I will never see those horrible days again thank god.❤

I watch your videos bc I want to be able to sympathize with my friends and to understand what they go through, no matter the profession. I really enjoy listening to your stories bc you’re genuine and authentic
Praying for our children . Schools are such an unsafe environment lately. It’s also so hard to figure out what to do with life , you gotta test the waters
Exactly true!!! You DO NOT know UNLESS you are a teacher....not a teacher aide, not a custodian, but a teacher then u know what it is all about....horrible....horrible stressful and exhausting job everr
I'm from the suburbs north of Chicago. Acquainted with many teachere here, and they all "strategized" to avoid teaching in the low-income areas. The SALARY is lower!! And the expectations for teachers are unfairly high. The teachers in Chicago are getting shafted. More importantly, the students are getting their futures squandered by HORRIBLE administrative/school board decisions. Gang affiliation is high and has been high for a long time. Now there is a surge in online gambling. The school admin just bends over for parents who don't know anything about anything.... Just my 2 cents... the entire education system needs to be power washed from top to bottom. Parents need to get put in their place. Teachers need to be paid a wage that reflects their importance! Great videos by the way :)
For the folks asking you about why you taught at underprivileged schools, I want them to know that I've only taught at private schools, and it's still awful. At most private schools, teachers deal with spoiled, entitled kids and parents. You did the right thing by getting out❤.
@@kayjay3948 Everyone keeps telling me to try private school. I said no thanks! I want to try something other than education. I still want to work with children though.

Hi Kesia!! I’m a high school senior in Austin TX (although I lived in SoCal for most of my life). Your videos are wonderful and moving. Thanks for your hard work. I’m especially interested in your journey because I’m going to college next year for Psychology in hopes of becoming a therapist myself! I wonder if you would consider giving some insight on what the field is like and perhaps why you prefer that path over teaching - you seem very passionate about your new work and it’s a joy to listen to. I’m so curious to hear your thoughts. Regardless, much love and good luck xo
@@wildgeeses Hey there! How wonderful! Yes, I will definitely make a video about that. I’m so glad that you have something you are looking forward to after high school. Good for you. I will keep you posted.
My CT (cooperating teacher) and his colleagues kept telling me during student teaching that it's not worth it and it keeps getting worse. The teachers dealt with all the abuse, work, complaints for students and parents and administrators getting their school to "look good" while students fail to have any consequences for their actions & they didn't have a due date for their assignments, kept having excuses while teachers have gradebook deadlines. I want to move forward with a private sector career outside of teaching. Thank you for sharing your journey! You'll be an excellent therapist!
Hi Kesia, I teach and live in London UK...it's very challenging and demanding on my physical and mental health and I will soon have to make hard choices regarding early retirement. I love the kids but there are aspects of the job i hate.
