  • @TheRealHoltzy
    @TheRealHoltzy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    The most tragic part of his passing is not seeing how much the world loved HIS Joker. It was worth it mate, you set a new benchmark for that character and finally gave the character a level of depth that always eluded it. I'm not saying that the other Jokers were necessarily 'bad' portrayals, but you put a whole new level within it that has caused other actors since to fall flat. Phoenix did a great job of portraying another version of Joker that stood up by itself, however, I think it will be a LONG time before we see a more Chaotic-bad version again

    The lip smacking mimics a condition called tardive dyskinesia which is a common side effect of long term use of anti-psychotics, like the Joke may have been subjected to at Arkham and something Ledger could have used as a clever, modern take on the Joker. In reality, if I recall correctly, he said the lip makeup irritated him and led to the behavior. It's crazy how some things just fall into place by total chance.

    I gotta admit I was one of the doubters. I vividly remember saying something along the lines of “How in the hell is a pretty boy like Heath going to play Joker?” I glad he proved me & everyone else that doubted him wrong….because DAMN he was great. Hell he was brilliant!
    I knew as soon as he won that Academy Award that people would say it was because of his passing. I’m sorry, but he definitely deserved the award. He’s still one of my favorite villains from a movie. Not just comics, but villains as a whole. Like Jack’s Joker, Wesley Snipes Neno Brown in New Jack City, & Alan Rickman’s Hans Gruber of Die Hard just to name a few of my favorites.
    I find it hard at times deciding who is my favorite Joker between Heath & Jack. Both portrayed it brilliant in their own rights. Jack played the crazy & intense character with a lot of goofy fun. Dark fun…but with fun nonetheless. At times that’s why I still ever so slightly by the slimmest of margins says Jack is my favorite. But then I watch Heath’s version and go right back saying he’s my favorite.
    Rest In Peace Heath.

      Well when you think of the amount of research that he did for the character, and the type of preparation he did for this character, it's not real a big jump. He spent days and weeks isolated from human contact in a hotel room to create the joker. The type of physical and psychological strain in doing this is far more detrimental than most people may think.

    Divorce then self deprivation and drug use combined with super low levels of physical health (diet and sleep) can take someone to a super low place 😔 This was such an incredible and historical performance it’s a huge shame he missed it. It may have been accidental after all, but it truly shows how fragile human life can actually be and even those at the perceived top of the world are not invincible. We must take good care of ourselves, and in return we can take good care of others 🥰

      @@cantinadudes You should totally go and watch it. Method acting at it's finest is what I'd say! I think Joaquin Phoenix and Ledger are on the same plane in respect of their portrayals of the Joker. I'll tell you why. The new Joker movie is a psychological-thriller movie whereas Dark Knight was an action-thriller. Both genres require different approaches to the portrayal of the same character. In their respective genres, both actors have done an amazing job! A parallel comparison between the two don't seem like a logical thing to do.

    I've always had the theory that the Joker was a former CIA agent who's mental state broke while being tortured. That would explain there being no trace of him in any database, the various techniques he knew, and his scars.
    That would then bring up the question - How scary is the person that "made" The Joker?

      I have a similar theory, about heath ledger’s joker.
      He was a soldier in Afghanistan, who got injured by some explosion which also killed his friends. He was left with facial scars (he’s smile) and went crazy because no one cared that he was left a freak and that he’s friends were killed.
      Remember when he talked about how no one would panic if a truck full of soldiers “blew up”
      And he know how to do the Three-volley salute (gun salute at the parade scene). I mean how would a crazy person know how to do that correctly.

    Heath Ledger was THE all time best joker I’ve ever seen. Not only that, but he was one of the most brilliant actors on the planet. I truly cried when I heard he had passed away. So very young, brilliant and a young dad. I miss his presence on the planet still. So many movies of his I loved. But more than that a heart full of love, wonder and humility. I have watched Joaquin Phoenix playing in the last joker and I loved his take on the roll. He brought something new to the table for the character. It’s more that he was misunderstood and quirky, but I did enjoy his brilliantly acted version, but for me Heath’s version was the most incredible joker. There will never be another Heath. I wish his sweet daughter got to know her amazing dad. May he Rest In Peace. Miss you Heath, from one Australian to another. I’m proud that he was Australian and I’m damn proud of him. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
