There lots of fun to work on and a good foundation to build a great motorhome. How in-depth are you guys going to get with your RV for you have to work on the engine and mechanical as well as interior? I had to do it all
@@MsSteelydan oh it's a gut job I mean we paid 1800 for it so I'm thinking another 15k in maintenance to get it gtg, we are flushing the gas tank right now, next power steering needs to be flushed and replaced. Then suspension airbags and shocks the bags are pricey so we need to look around, suggestions?
@@MsSteelydan we have some video that we have recorded but the video has to be edited, we have 2 young ones so everything is extra pain in the butt to do.
Dan - I forgot..the airbags replaced with quad bags; added dual fans in the cockpit; the brakes, engine and generator where all serviced. This month I will be replacing the 2 fans in near the rear dinette and the cockpit with max fans. A few weeks ago, i removed the fan in the wet bath and replaced it with a max fan. Replacing the bath fan also adds a bit of outside light in the bath and exhausts any moisture quickly. I should also mention, I have to replace most if not all of my flooring. It is rotted from the cockpit to the rear of the coach. There may be one piece that I don’t need to replace but if I am doing 4 boards...why not 5?
Do not fall in love with old plumbing or electrical!!! You've got that thing open, now's the time to upgrade this vehicle to 2020. Please keep the video's coming.
The electrical wiring was good and sound however I am going to replace the buzz box and update fuses. And I am also going to replace the black tank . Thanks for watching my videos, I will post a new video soon on the updated progress I have made and my plans on what's in store.
A new product called CAN DO... Pour it on everything... Watch it work... while you have fun... Works on engine..trans...walls .. floor...bath...tires... CAN DO.....!!!
I know i am not a mechanic like you but, i was thinking that you might have gone on the internet to look up the blueprints for this GMC model. It would give you the exact specifications for you to use to replace everything you need. I should know, ...because i downloaded a blueprint manual that had the specific measurements for this particular model. Just for shits and giggles. But i know that you will do so in the for see-able future. But thanks for showing us what you have accomplished. This is indeed a great undertaking that you have decided to do!! No Lie!! Keep up the good work.
ermill39 thanks for the advice. I have an old manual that came with the rv, I've read it cover to cover twice. I'm about to start on the interior walls of the coach. I'm going to use aluminum, I want it to look like an airstream on the inside. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Thank you for your response. I am sorry if i was obtuse. I meant no offense and am now realizing that the GMC rv's DOES come with instruction manuals. Again, I apologize. Please, ...do keep up the good work. Believe it or not, i am hoping to see the final project. Good Luck and Thanks for the videos.
I wish I had been there to tell you to put galvanised tin down under the coated foam panels when you had all that area open.. especially to reflect the heat from the mufflers.. But hindsight is 20/20.. You da Man... though for tackling all that, most would give up.. I am following along as I would like to buy one one day and the more I know.....
Doug LaVerdiere I would have used the next size larger screw. And I did not show it on the video but I had to cut about 3/4 to 1" off the long side it was just a little off. While your floor is off check out your mufflers it would be easier to get to them with the floor off. If you need to know the type of glue I used just let me know and I will let you know what it is. Good luck on your floor.
Doug LaVerdiere check out my other videos you may like the one I did with the ceiling tongue and groove wood it look good. The old ceilings are that cheap cardboard. I am going to be posting a video on how I wired and installed my viair 444c air pump that replaces the old one. I hope you like the videos. Thanks for watching.

Also you should caulk the seams if you have not already. Also the seals on the windows leak I will make a video on how to repair them soon. Thanks for watching.
Mat Helm there is glue that was there from the factory, you don't want it to vibrate while you are driving down the road. Also changing the floor is not something your going to have to do again, the original floor lasted 30 years or so. If you have an concern about it rotting you can always us marine grade plywood, but I would glue it down. You don't want to risk the chance of it vibrating while driving. Let me know what you think.
We just got a 77 Eleganza II, so excited to start working on it!

@@stephaniecarman4615 well I am looking forward to seeing your video. What is your video on?
What I would have done: Install foam panels. Lay down a good solid poly-plastic tarp or rubber roofing product. Then lay the plywood on top of that.

Doug LaVerdiere man it sounds like you've put some money in your rv. How did you get it from California? And what transmission did you get?

I just bought a Eleganza II a month ago. I too have some floors that need to be replaced. Is there anything you would have done differently?

Retro Restore Camping- Thanks. I am over here in West MI...maybe I will see you sometime

I drove on I80 for 4 days to Grand Rapids

One big GMC mess!!! Why!?
I like the history of the Gmc Motorhome and how well they were made. I have not posted a video in a while but mine is close to being completed.
I got Manny’s transmission with a 3.7 final drive
How do you like the transmission?
Also you should caulk the seams if you have not already. Also the seals on the windows leak I will make a video on how to repair them soon. Thanks for watching.
Liquid Nails means the next guy to have to do that job will probably end up having to rip out the aluminum with it.
