Dead Inside is not for the faint of heart, and although we speak about the events in this book fairly delicately, your mental health is important to us. I finished this book in one long sitting that ended at 5AM this morning.
I LOVED IT. Everything y'all said on this podcast: I agree. I saw it as a...very demented rom-com from the early 2010s/mid 00s, but with some depth to it. Yes, obviously the book doesn't take itself seriously and pokes a ton of fun at the whole scene, you gotta be blind to think the main character is NOT satire, come on.
Also, I loved the "CONSIDER THIS A TRIGGER WARNING" callout before the very first necrophilia scene...it had me in stitches because it was so painfully clear to me from that moment what Morrison was trying to do. I was cackling like a witch.

The main character reminded me of a Brazilian book called Good Morning, Verônica (written by Raphael Montes and Ilana Casoy). Unfortunately I don't think there is an English edition yet, and the series on Netflix removed the whole part about... the guy with a ~disturbingly unique taste in women~

"Can you imagine if in fantasy..." sadly it's just a truth of the way some people will defend works they love, I have definitely seen that sort of rhetoric aimed at people who criticize a magic system. Also a common response when someone criticizes inconsistent characterization in ANY genre, "humans ARE inconsistent it was totally on purpose!"
I certainly agree that that doesn't exempt any genre from criticism, I just think they all have a seat at the "victims of this particular flavor of irrational defense" support group.

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Is it wrong that I didn’t find it as bad or hard to read as I expected 😂 not sure what that says about me

I can't tell if I'm nauseous because I'm nauseous or if I'm nauseous from listening to ya'll talk about this book 🤢😭
I've only read one horror book let alone anything in extreme horror and... I've never understood how books could be scary but now I understand it's not about being scared, it's about being horrified.
Anyways. Excuse me while I go put on the fluffiest, most comforting anime I can find.

Hi, congratulations for your reviews. I have always followed your advice. I was really struck by the beauty of "Motion Detection", a thriller book that I found by chance on Amz while looking for a new book. The cover intrigued me, it's an unusual book with a spectacular ending, I highly recommend it!
