DC Icons is my favorite line of figures based on this comics property. The scale and sculpt are what made it so difficult for me to accept McFarlane's DC Multverse.
Great love letter to this line. Kept up with this line. Still have them in my display over DC collectibles (which was a great line too). The head joint should have been better but the accessories were awesome. Plus having an accessory pack was very cool as well. Great video.
They were the best discontinued line OF ALL TIME I still have some and have boughten some that Flash is still my favorite of all time it beats any McFarlane for me they had so much potential you could tell they cared for every release.
Great video. I think one of the reasons this line didn’t stick, is because of the scale. If they had been the same scale as ML or DCUC they could have pull those fans into it. I still have a few in my collection like Grail, Harley, Batgirl, Static.
From these figures I got Green Lantern. Sadly the transparent plastic made it so the connecting piece would break. And I'm will get at some point Firestorm. I love the characters and I think that modern version (out with the puffy sleeves) is incredible.
One thing about this line that they absolutely nailed was the name of it. I adore the fact that they named this line "DC Icons". Whoever gets the license from McFarlane, that name needs to be used again. I'm looking to get that Harley Quinn myself. That figure is gorgeous.
*I still have some dc icons, collectibles, & essentials brand new still in box! unopened from mostly superman & Wonder Woman action figures because those 2 were my fav.! 😭😭🙌 especially as a couple! new 52 period was just glorious tbh! and their figures were something else too!*
"It's a Swamp Thing, baby! You wouldn't understand." This looked like a neat little line. The fact that 6 inch figures aren't actually six inches blows my mind 😂. A great fun fact.
Thank you for making this video. I been wanting to collect these figures but it might be late for me. There a little too much for me although I’m an opener. Thank you again. God Bless.
Another thing, I wouldn´t give too much tought of the character selection and the reasoning for them. Check out the first Waves when Mattel had the line. Red Tornado, Metamorpho and Etrigan were chosen then.
Scale was purely the reason why I didn’t buy a single one of these. If they had the scale match up with the ML and DCUC I would have bought them all up
Dc icons were so dynamic, most sculpts were different. Each figure were highly detailed, great sculpt and had good paint. They had high articulation but most not functional. Still great line that died out super fast.
Bobby Vala was the guy who implemented icons articulation scheme to add it to the marvel legends line. 10 years later they finally started using that articulation for their 6in figs, and possibly 20 more years later they might still be using that same outdated articulation.
dc icons was supposed to be Marvel legends (toybiz/ hasbro) main competition. DC Universe Classics was seen as inferior to marvel legends (Hasbro). dc icons could have been great if it had more time to expand its line up.
Really nice video! I truly think this line died due to scaling. It was way too small and the articulation isn’t very good. Plus paint was kinda bad. Sculpt was the best, though. Now that reminds me of McFarlane. 🤔
All i have to say is if you got the supersons two pack at retail or a decent price, congratulations. Lol. I liked the DC Icons line for what it was. But i couldn't help but wonder if it was between the 6 inch to 7 inch scale (based on who the character was) that they would have been THE figures at that time. They were soooooo close. I still love the Greg Capullo Batman figures because of that reason. and the DC supervillains/ Crime Syndicate figures were was the direction o wish the went in. In some many ways we were so close.
Of course essentials did die off along with DC Direct for “UH hm” obvious reasons. However DC Direct did came back under the mcfarlane sub line tbh I kinda like dc essentials and it’s a shame it didn’t continue
Clearly I am alone in this but I love how the females scale compared to the generally accepted size standard of Marvel legends.. Women are generally shorter than most men so when I look at Marvel legends women being the same height it annoys me to the point I have modified some to try to get them in scale out of desperation... .. But icon women (excluding wonder woman) are flawless in their scale.. That Catwoman would have been the best ever. . That Harley is the best in 1:12 scale hands down. And her zize/ scale is the key to that..
Miss this line. Feels like they got canceled before they could reach their peak 😢
Agree, also love your content bro.
Spider criminal we need a Mcfarlane roasting video again 😂 that video had me dying.

This was great! Miss that line and just wish the changes implemented towards the end had gone through sooner
Thank you! I should have touched on that increased size more in the video but like you say it was a bit too little too late anyways.

That Darkseid is outstanding
Wow. Please do more of this. Thank you so much.
Great documentary! DC Icons was the best!
I love these type of comprehensive videos. Keep it up! Are you going to do the transition From DC Sirect to DC Collectibles?
Not sure when but I plan on covering all DC lines at some point. Thanks for watching!
Anthony is apparently expanding his brand from customs to reviews
I’m taking over the name “Anthony” once and for all.
That's still my favorite Harley quinn figure, she's perfect
I hate that they killed off this line before it really started to flourish. Their Catwoman and Deadshot looked so promising 😔
Ya really wanted the whole wave they showed

I'm looking to get that Harley Quinn myself. That figure is gorgeous.
Icons is still my favorite DC toyline, nothing short of the Mafex imports have topped it in my eyes
First mattel multiverse, then batman legacy now this!!! Are you gonna do mattel dc comics unlimited and essentials next?
Those are definitely on the list to do at some point
*I still have some dc icons, collectibles, & essentials brand new still in box! unopened from mostly superman & Wonder Woman action figures because those 2 were my fav.! 😭😭🙌 especially as a couple! new 52 period was just glorious tbh! and their figures were something else too!*
This was a fantastic line. I have most of the figures. It’s a shame that they didn’t release the Demon , Sinestro and so on. Great video
"It's a Swamp Thing, baby! You wouldn't understand."
This looked like a neat little line. The fact that 6 inch figures aren't actually six inches blows my mind 😂. A great fun fact.
Excellent job ❤😂
Excellent video!
Great video! Really good job, man! You got a new subscriber!
I really regret missing out on this line. I really liked the scale despite them being smaller than Marvel Legends.
Great video !!!!
Entrigan looked amazing! Sad they never released... Shazam looked nice also.
Thank you for making this video. I been wanting to collect these figures but it might be late for me. There a little too much for me although I’m an opener. Thank you again. God Bless.

Universe classics will always be my favorite but the icons were great
That black Adam's sculpt, detail, paint was just chef's 😘👌
8:25 unless you’re an import “6”inch type of guy
Great Video

💜 what a great G R E A T video !!!!!💜
Cool overview - will you be doing a video based on DC Essentials as well?
9:15 Thank you so much for the Barry Allen love a bunch of weirdos want to pretend that he wasn’t the first guy to popularize wearing that suit
Ngl- the solid white backgrounds hurt my eyes so much 😭 (my work area is very dimly lit)
I wish the booster and Ted 2pk was released :(
The line had so much potential.
Deadman looks scary af
That’s why they call him Deadman
The music at the beginning giving me damn flashbacks 😳
dc icons was supposed to be Marvel legends (toybiz/ hasbro) main competition. DC Universe Classics was seen as inferior to marvel legends (Hasbro). dc icons could have been great if it had more time to expand its line up.
7:48 I think dc icons scale just fine with star wars black series. They were both true 1/12th scale (or smaller)

are Anthony's customs second channel?
Totally unrelated

Look better than most mcfarlane dc multiverse figures
R.I.P DC Icons
🫶
Really wish that etrigan released hopefully mcfarlane releases it
PLS Todd, please re-release the DC Icons figures and the canceled DC Icons! Us DC fans WANT 1/12 scale figures 😭😭😭
this line had great potential it just needed better plastic and thigh cuts.
31:30 I want this Super Son two pack so bad. 34:41 pronounced Gadoh

McFarlane would’ve had like 5 different Batman’s and maybe we would’ve got green lantern
I didn’t collect this line cause of the scale. I also find many of the head sculpts to be terrible
I miss supersons so much. before jon got ruined
Dc icons was so much better than McFarlane and I love McFarlane
