  • A quick look around Brian Allardyce's 1982 430R Husqvarna twinshock dirt bike. Brian built this machine using parts from two old donor bikes that he had lying around in his workshop.

Love those old Husqvarnas! They have a special place in my heart as I was just a young man when I rode my first one. Thanks for bringing me back to my younger years.

Good morning Chris ,evening your way . Yes this upstate NY USA is a huge fan of classic dirt bikes. I have told several of my old friends about your reviews of bikes of our age . European models and manufacturers that we don’t have here, never seen here . That bike looks great, after a lot of reconditioning. Cases can be hard to get in great shape. I spent so much money getting me RM 370 Welded up. Vibration can be a killer on them . Over and over. Mine was raced pro for one year prior to me getting it. He beat on it as much as I did. Your Chanel brings back great memories. Glad I had a big paper route ,126 customers . From 14-18 made good money for a kid. That paid for my toys . Mom and dad’s insurance, for my broken bones,a lot of them. Don’t miss them broken bones . I was asked this morning,my birthday what I would do with two wishes, one to see my parents again and go riding with my best friend Tom. There are gone but the best memories. Thanks again for the upload.

Hi Joe Nice to hear from you again and it continually amazes me how far reaching my channel is and the many countries that appear to enjoy my content with of course yourself included. But it’s great to hear my subscribers stories of back in the day when they used to take to the track and it’s great that you can relive those days through my video’s I must say it’s hard work and many hours and sometimes days spent at the computer but always worth it when you get positive feedback from my subscribers, stay safe and well my friend and all the best to everybody stateside.

Actually owned a CR 430 for a few years. Had a fairly controllable engine for its day, even though down on power to all the other 465s and 500s then starting to be common. I could probably ride this Husky faster as a result. The very solid frame and geometry made this a safe bike to ride on the edge, with no hidden surprises. Also quite light for an open class MX bike. Certainly pulled me out of many situations when I got in over my depth. Problems with the low pipe at the front needing frequent repairs, the ignition coils that just died with no warning, and if I recall, a couple of broken transmission parts, all easily fixed via an excellent local importer. Gotta admit that I really liked this bike. Wish I still had it. The CR 500 that superseded it lost a couple of gears but gained a massive lump of power, and was a real handful as a result, similar to most of those early 500s.

@@monticlassictv Absolutely. Used to play around a little on a 250 Husky and 250 Maico back in Denmark about 50 years ago. My son has just started racing on a 125 KTM down here.
