I had the 83 Husqvarna CR 500 and I was untouchable. I geared it down and road it through the Maine woods at incredible speeds. I have a lot of mistakes that I've made in my life, but selling that bike was up there.
This bike you have is incredible!
    Love it!

Great bike. Looks more like an 82 X C. They give away for me is the silver motor. 81 they have the black cylinders. The WR also had the lighting coils which the XCsdid not have. I had an 81, 82, and 83 XC 250s. The 82 was actually the best. In 84 was when they started making big changes. Went to a plastic tank and completely different layout, halfway through the year went to a single shock that never got worked out until about 86. Dude you’re making me drool. Boy the memories. Thanks for keeping history alive for a lot of us.

I'm cornfused since I had several big bore Huskies ('79 thru '87). WR's had headlights/taillights and had the dark navy blue gas tanks 81/82. The XC's had no lights and had the black gas tanks. Absolutely loved the my '84 WR500 had. I rode enduro's and my pit crew (wife) knew nothing about motorcycles. There was one thing she picked up on really quick and knew when I was coming through a section. The awesome bark that bad boy had! Such a great bike and great times.

I remember seeing these bikes brand new in the showroom at Gladwin Cycle Sales 1/4 mile down the road from my house. I rode a 360 cr that was nice, but later I got a Penton 250 hare scrambler and that was the best dirt bike I ever owned.

I had raced rode Swede Husqvarna 1976-82. MX and Enduro excellent bikes.
Husq-Varna means " house by river" in Swede. One of the oldest gun and bike mfg in world.
The symbol is a gun site.
They Won a lot of off road international championships over the years.
Kinda went down hill after 1983 .
Slow heavy water cooled versions .
When I was 16 I bought a 360 CR Hello Mikola replica and rebuild engine . Had fox shocks .
Spent every penny for new crank and piston boring etc.
    Fast 6 speed light like a 250.
    My favorite was a WR250 1982.
Won two hare scramble s in B class in NYS.
With a flat front tire... 😂
Today they make junky lawn mower s.

I find the jump in dirtbike technology mid 80s so fascinating. To me it's the rift between modern MX bikes and the old field tracker/ scrambling bikes of the 50ties. Especially if you look at worksbikes. The HRC bikes of 85 already have very similar geometry to modern MX bikes, almost flat seats and the main differences that are there, are due to the fact that tracks were still natural.

Very first thing i noticed on the you tube cover scene for this video is the font style of that number one on the side number plate . And being an attention to detail all my life on motorcycles... as im surfing you tube videos i flashed on this one while i was looking for others so i went back to this video as that style of the number one caught my eye ..then i see its another kaplan dirt bike show and sure enough the bike has a Steiner "1" moto graphics font on the side number plate . im sure she is well aware that she doing this font as her signature of her graphics style she uses in her one off collections of graphics to cover the whole bike....and another interest visual about the style of the actual stripping details of the art works flow into the particular shaping of the body work for each different make and model ..and can be heavily covered on some of the extreme builds her graphics will be more conservative on convention production makes and models not to over do that would distract from its major features or overemphasizing the features common on all models ..but then you come rolling out works of art like this unobtaium rare vintage piece that screams husqvarna of our dream machines and would be a total sin to find one sticker on it from any graphics kit .but not christy's font style number one..
,And this particular design bike as they generally built has no areas large enough to support large graphics kits and why there were no sticker kits produced when this bike was new ..and not much choice back then for number plate styles for the actual stick on numbers only in black or white .and on bikes as this one isnt if too nice to ride but absolutely way too nice to ride or even fire off the Steiger "1" Graphics looks factory o.e.m. and looks great on all bikes ..and for the first time im seeing her font style for the number one that remains unchanged that really doesnt follow the themes of her body works one off custom graphics for each make and model ..so its obvious by using the unchanged number font in evey application of her custom graphics is the Steiger "1" thats common has to her trade mark copy right like the dozens of trade mark graphic of "no fear". ,"Factory Effects",and "Decal works" thet you end up throwing about half away ...then there are other brands that specialize in only the numbers of their own fonts just for your number plate ..but christy's graphics cover all the bases with one package deal or just go with her font numbers that says its a Steiger custom that you need on bikes like this husky "naked bike" dirt bike that if you applied modern graphics would kill the aesthetics that screams husqvarna special to these huskies design but not christy's font of the number one that presently no other moto graphics designers are doing ,.and with a complete graphics kit with the number font being towards a block letter style with the graphics flowing like they do that's not the same as the number font style says hi im christy and the art work are my graphics style ..so as i have no idea were you guys are going with her art for personalizing your bike to the aesthetics of factory works bikes ..i was wonder what the fonts would be looking like with christy's number style in "0" through "9" to apply to number plates of your assigned AMA race number they give to all first time novice racers ..for the past 10 years i have been customizing harleys into Dyna Dirt Glides with vintage mini motocross rectangular aluminum numberplates with a raised stamped border and then applying Dupli-Color adhesive clear primer and then Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Coating that has no paint pigments but comes in various transparent colors allows for the finish of the material you are painting to shine through the transparent colors of your choice ..and the spray cans do not claim to be a curtain color but only close to the color of the plastic cap ,,so three coats of the orange cap spray can turn the vintage numberplate into a nice gold anodized aluminum number plated with no sandpaper scratches showing but with the clear adhesive primer with three coats of color and bake it on like a powered coat for an hour at about 150*F to 200*F you can blast your illegitimate gold anodized plates at the car wash and the paint will not blow off ...and by drilling four hole in the left and right side covers in areas that dont come in contact with the battery or the computer with numbers already in place on your numberplates use the motorcycle pre drilled side covers for a template to locate the mounting holes for the number plates the wont short out the battery or kill the ECU and use custom fasteners like 5 or 6 mm tapered stainless steel flat head socket head drive screws with tapered anodized finish washers and i guaranty your dyna dirt bike will turn heads at your local bike show ..and picking a number i use the last two digits of the year the bike was made ..and back 10 years ago there were no dyna dirt bikes and as i entered my dyna dirt in a bike show at our local harley shop and crowd gathered around my dyna dirt entry and begin pointing out all the other mods i do to give it the look of a real dirt bike and all of a sudden a dude dressed in an expensive business suit and tie cufflinks and shiny shoes has four or five professional photography cameras all strapped around his neck takes them off and sets them in a neat little pile away from my bike ..with each camera this dude started snapping dozens of shots like hes building a blue print , he even was down on his knees and finally on his belly and on his back taking shots from the ground up ..and as he came same as he left without a word to no one ...so after i though about it ive been surfing google images under dyna dirt bikes and not hardly anything at first and after a year later to now WOW omfg there are 1000$ of dyna dirt bikes on google images ..there is a dude in england later who markets a custom dyna adventure bike dubbed "the Frasier" the builders last name who also looks a lot like Kelsey Grammer imagine that ..i have a 1000 other ideas and facts i would like to share with you and the boy ..that too long to list in these comments ..but i have your son's email as this is a heads up of a huge collection still under construction of an email of information that if you guys get any helpful ideas from is worth my time dirt bikes street bikes and harleys of tricks and experiences ...but here this year with learning more you are. Very quickly becoming a very hard extreme act to follow up with anything i know in of that you aint already been their and done thet ...this week has been the first week you could step outside and not become soaking with sweat . That for me is getting close for a major road trip with weather cool enough for a full set of leathers , gauntlet gloves boots and a genuine Bandit fullface helmet that is my answer for ridding naked bikes at plus interstate speeds all day day after day VS traveling on a king of the baggers couch arm rest full fairing windshield rattle sags curb feelers white wall tires rubber cushion floor boards back up lights mico wave oven refrigerator 7.1 surround sound and a color TV. ..ridden 100s of goldwings for 100s of miles and not for me .,.one day we had your unusual obnoxious goldwing owner you dont dare mention anything about motorcycles to him as he will begin explaining to you in great detail why you are wrong and know nothing at all about goldwings after he just traded a brand new road king loaded for his now new broken honda with an intermittent failing cruse control told to us that it might not show up for hours only to fail the next minute ..the boss turns to me in a stern voice to impress this irate angry bird wingding and says to me " i want you on this bike first thing tomorrow morning and i dont care if you have to ride all day , dont come back until you find the problem ..and it was all i could do to keep a straight face without yell out whoopy a free paid one day vacation on a new loaded wingding with all travel expenses on the house ...so all night im thinking which way do i go and back , lake michigan , lookout mountain in the smokies , Mississippi river boat gambling ..i had never ridden a goldwing more than 10-15 miles on test rides ...and after about 150 miles out i turned around and headed back to the shop in pain and agony ..with not more that 350 miles total that wingding beat me up worse than a bad day in rain mud blood and warm beer at the motocross track.....my fingers were numb but toughing anything felt like a low voltage electrical shock same ass my ass and backs of my legs with a sore chest from the buffeting wind from the windshield as i hit I-70 west for St Louis setting the cruse on 80 thinking this is going to be a breeze WRONG ..as all jap bike owners will brag how smooth and vibration free vs a Milwaukee ...the higher rpm of japans four cylinders puts out a resonate frequency in the upper ranges similar of a micro wave oven that take advantages of MHz and GHz radio frequency that cooks your food from the inside out as i was well done when i got back to the shop

I had the 81 CR 430 and I loved it until my brother-in-law got a 490 Maico. The Maico kicked my but everywhere so I sent my Head, Cylinder, Piston, Crankshaft down to Pro Circuit in CA and had them stroke my it into I think it was a 488 cc when finished. Then it was look out 490 Maico. I loved that bike until 84 then it was the new KTM with the upsidedown forks, single shock rear first production bike for a Titanium rear axile and that bike rocked my world and everybody else that got on it.

As you can see at 10:38 this bike has got the normal writing: SWEDEN (as it should be). Anyone else out there on the planet that also has got their rear brake/hub wrong?? Welcome to nerd-life deluxe! Faster than that unless it's geared down. Top speed on my wr400xc is a bit over a hundred. That's one of the top ten fastest production bikes ever made bc of the WR transmission

In 85' my buddy got a new 400xc and i got the cr250 husky , we had so much fun riding and racing those bikes , my 250 would fly but couldn't touch the 400
