- The TI-84 Plus CE is a good calculator, but there are a few features that it's missing. Thankfully, it's quite easy to fix that. In this video, I'll show you how to enable dark mode and play games on your TI-84 Plus CE Calculator, and much more!
If your TI-84 Plus CE is running OS 5.5 or later, you MUST install a jailbreak for your calculator called arTIfiCE, or most things in this video will not work for you. More info on arTIfiCE can be found here: yvantt.github.io/arTIfiCE/

Mine just came in the mail and I am freaking out in joy (sophomore in high school) it feels like I’m getting a new phone (for other people my age) just wanting to spend so much time on it and learning about it.

2:55 "dark mode" is just inverting screen colors, but most of the interface is white so it ends up as black and vice-versa when it's on so it's called dark mode
Indeed. The way that "Dark mode" is enabled is by sending a command the LCD controller to invert the display, which is also why the hex code is so short.
Love the video. Just got a calculator of my own. Is it completely safe to mod the calculator or can it be bricked?

Whats wrong with Vyision (shell) though. When I open it, it just sits there and says the files are in place or something? It dosen't work please help.
I'm pretty sure that was one of the known bugs in a previous release. You could try to pick up a beta build on the thread on cemetech.net.
I have been recently watching videos on this calculator like yours on how to play Pokemon and I really want it but it is so damn expensive. I wish it was cheaper
It really is a shame that the calculator is that expensive. You could look into buying one from ebay which might cost less.

@@arslanshakil1115 Good question! If you buy one from ebay it is more likely it would be an older model, so it wouldn't require a jail break. I would personally recommend finding one in your price range, and then asking me or the people on cemetech.net (A large calculator community) about whether or not it would require jail breaking.

hey, at 0:14 when you show ur calc screen. am wondering how do i make mine to give me the answer without the line between equations. every time i enter an equation it will give an answer and a line after. can you tell me how do i remove that line? and also mine take like a bit of second to give an answer is it possible to make faster, cuz my older calc was faster? thanks
The reason the line between equations was gone was because I made a program that just displayed those equations, so it could give the error on something that should've worked. Sadly, there isn't a way to take the line away. What was your older calculator?
@@TInyHackerCalcs now is 84 c silver edit, it was 82 stats. maybe am not use to my new one yet but i really feel my older one takes numbers faster and gave the answer also faster

@@M1AR The TI-84 Plus CSE is notoriously a very slow calculator. It was very underpowered, and sadly there's not much you can do about that. The 82 Stats probably was a bit faster, just not in color.
@@M1AR There isn't really anyway to do this, since the RAM and Archive are different. However, if you want to move things to RAM so that you can run or edit them, you can use a shell like Doors CSE 8 (ceme.tech/DL960) which makes so you can run archived programs and looks really nice too.

Why should I not update tp 5.6?
5.6 removed support for programs written in assembly language. A lot of popular calculator programs are assembly or C programs, meaning you'd need to use a jailbreak to run them on 5.6.

for lowercase, change the language of the calculator to non-english, go to the catalog, press enter and turn your TI-84 Plus CE off.

Is it normal for me to only be able to fit 6-8 games on my calculator, or am I doing something wrong?
It depends on the size of the games and what other stuff you have on your calculator. If need more storage you can try deleting some OS apps you don't use, as those take a lot of space. Also make sure your programs are stored in the Archive, not the RAM, as there's a lot more Archive space on the calculator.
Ok @@TInyHackerCalcs thank you will keep in mind. I also have 1 more question and that is: One of my other calcs also a ti84plus-ce seems to randomly delete the games on it. I am not sure if this is something I am doing wrong but this has happened multiple times.
@@vsipen If your games are stored in the RAM, they're lost in the event that the calculator is reset or crashes. That's my best explanation for why you're sometimes losing them. Programs in the Archive don't get lost when the calculator crashes, which is another bonus (besides also having more space). If your programs are stored in the RAM, you can try moving them to the archive and see if that fixes it.

@@syedmuhammadmehdi7137 No, that's not really how batteries work. While running the program it might drain slightly faster but the program simply existing on the calculator and not currently being used will not affect it.
@@TInyHackerCalcs ah thank you I knew Abt computers and how the program running affect the speed but I don't really know anything Abt a calculators programs I didn't know wether it had all the programs always running or not

Yeah lol, they've really got a pretty good hold on the US market. It's too bad, since competition brings a need to innovate and improve products, but they can just get away with selling old hardware for like $100.

The TI-84 series is so weak that even my Galaxy Watch4 has more RAM than total storage than the calculators.
BTW, don't do this if you are using it on a test!
